Kitcat
Out of idle curiosity Croc, what essential Caterham spares did you buy? We all have had the experience of them being out of what we need, ditto Redline parts, which seems to have more Cat stuff than Caterham. As to your other car projects, I dont suppose the local NAPA will have those items, right:)? You are a brave man.
Croc
Mike - Doing this from memory: - complete spare sets of cooling hoses - fuel rubber hosing plus the raw metal tube that is used to run brakes and fuel through the center tunnel - brake discs and pads - front and rear hubs - clutch assembly (on back order) - brake circuit assembly - new radiator - a bunch of O rings and gaskets that are on 2-5 year replacement cycles - I think I got a steering rack assembly (I got a few sitting on the work bench so it gets confusing) - drive shafts - safety belts - replacing this year anyway. - fuel pump - a couple of gearbox things that tend to break - that little plastic whatsit that stops the gear level from going all floppy. - wheel studs and nuts - starter - alternator - battery master switch (these little devils have a tendency to fail when least wanted). - engine and gearbox mounts - radiator and exhaust bobbins - The CSR diff mount pieces that I use to stop it pretzeling itself with the torque Still working on the dry sump as it looks like the scavenge pump has a 5 yr refresh cycle for tear down and servicing and there are lots of bits inside there to replace. So I might just buy a whole new unit to swap in and then rebuild the old one at leisure. Either way that is the weak link on the engine internals. BruceBe
Larger Caterham client projects this winter, in random order: Racelogic Video VBOX in three vehicles (we're a dealer) R400 Engine upgrade (Roller-barrels; injectors; etc) Engine refresh on a 2.5L, 300HP engine package we provide Engine refresh on a 2.3L CSR260 Complete prep/re-commision of the first CSR brought to the USA (Press car) 6-speed gearbox re-build CSR rear brake upgrade (AP calipers; new uprights; etc) Roll cage install (Superlight) on a CSR CF Aero screen install Flat-shift upgrade to Sadev-equipped CSR Crash repair on an SP/300.R Tillet FIA race-seat install Additionally, we're doing post-season maintenance/prep on a few race and street vehicles. On the R&D side, our custom track wheel product will be expanding into non-CSR fitments (S3 and SV chassis - 15x6.5F and 15x9R, and no fender/body mods req'd). Also, we're toying with the idea of swinging for the fences on a maximum-effort, naturally-aspirated Duratec 2.3/2.5L race engine. Target output will be ~380HP - lots of compression, RPM and race-fuel. Incidentally, we have much of Croc's list on the shelf, for those needing parts on this side of the Atlantic. wemtd
For the Birkin side of things radiators were a hang up two years ago but i think BirkinDirect USA have or are working on a fix. Croc from the sound of things you just need another Seven in case something breaks. I'm told they need company?
Croc
Croc from the sound of things you just need another Seven in case something breaks. I'm told they need company? Stop it Paul! I have been having naughty thoughts like that and I am trying to stop myself. Cold spoons are not working. Visions of 380hp naturally aspirated Duratec is doing a number on me. My upgrade budget needs to really be aimed at my other cars and they absorb substantial cash. The Marlboro car you saw at NJMP last July will be a mid 2017-2019 restoration/recommissioning and thats following the expensive CSL restoration (2015-2017) that I am only half way through (although it has now made it on track for the first time...). At least I have finished the garage upgrades! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/NJMP%20garage/EC82403D-307F-4FF2-BC5F-AB8A20D5AE65_zpsub4gddo6.jpg

John B
After hole-ing two pistons at NJMP last summer at a member day before the 7's event. I sent my 2.3L SBD Duratech to Hasselgren Engineering in Berkely, CA, They do our Formula Atlantic engines. Paul does a lot of 2.3 Duratecs for Swift 016's. I told him I want a kick ass engine that runs on 93 octane, and "By the way, it doesn't have to remain a 2.3 liter" His eyes widened and a big smile emerged. He's boring it to 2.5L and using the 2.5L head with larger valves and it will run the Cosworth barrel throttles. It was 235 hp from SBD, Hasselgren thinks 285-
yellowss7
Welcome to the big boy club. :smilielol5: Hopefully you and your son will make it out a few times to shake it down before the July 7s gathering. We will be looking out for you. Tom

In our case, it was 299HP/239TQ on a very stingy Superflow engine dyno. You'll need a different flywheel/PP/clutch assembly - we've developed one specifically for the CSR, but the standard CSR clutch package is identical to that of the R500, which uses a standard dry bell-housing. Our flywheel/clutch package is rated at 300 ft-lbs - the stock (uprated) clutch spun on the chassis dyno. Cheers, -Bruce
