Alfonse Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 It is something like a home remodel, in that I kept finding little things to "fix." I thought I would be done by now, but it is getting close. When I purchased it in late March, it was pretty tired cosmetically in the interior. The outside was pretty chipped up, and for the parts that were metal I quickly found out I'm not fond of polishing aluminum. It started like this: And today it looks like this: It should be on the road in the next week or so.....
Dan3030 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Wow, looking sharp. Is that a small sailboat I see in the background as well?
Kitcat Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Very nice! I assume you had it professionally painted? I spoke w/someone recently whose se7en cost $7.5K to prep and paint! Yours looks very sharp in the photo.
Davemk1 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 That looks great! Did you, or will you, install a clear bar material on the sides? dave

Yours looks very sharp in the photo. I had it painted. I took it apart for them and am reassembling it. Since I redid some of the interior, I had it apart anyway.

Alfonse Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 Much as I like yellow that is a great improvement. Thanks.
Automoda Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Wow! Wonderful work. I really like the paint scheme. So nice to see a car restored like that (I've done a few myself). I have a 2003 Birkin too. Its in great shape but yeah, over time the pitting gets to the paint and polish and I think in a couple years it'll be time to do what you've done and do a restoration. I just don't like the thought of taking the car apart in the warm weather while I could be driving!
Alfonse Posted June 1, 2016 Author Posted June 1, 2016 The weather was still pretty chilly when I took it apart, thinking I would be doing less than I did. I should have it back on the road today though. I did leave some projects for the next winter...
Croc Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Its amazing how a paint job can really update a car and make it look it more modern. :iagree:
Alfonse Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 Really pretty much done now. A taller roll bar is still coming, and I will install my 3rd brake light and probably make a bimini top. That's it for this summer, cuz driving now...
