Found the problem on the Caterham website

Apparently the replacements belts I got are not FIA rated.

Lovely oversight on my part

I have the 2 point addition and the arm restraints but now I officially don't have in spec belts

Edit x2: I'm going to call the track in the morning and see if they sell belts and/or going to stop by this place on the way https://www.stableenergies.com/Harnesses/products/584/ and see if they have anything

Edit x3: looks like I'm stopping by Stable energies on the way down to buy a belt on the way down. Called them and they said they should have something for me.

Time out. The Caterham belts do have an expiry date. They don’t need FIA accrediting to be acceptable.

Do you have the 5 or 6 pt Caterham belts? If so what expiry do they have on them?

NJMP wants belts that are in date. So do yours have a date specified?

Stable energies is good. I buy stuff there. But I am not convinced you need to buy more belts yet.

I use the Caterham belts and have no issues. But my belts are in date. So hopefully the new ones you bought are or your old belts are. Look for the white label.

Ok now I understand what you have done. There are two types of Caterham belts on the website. There is the FIA spec (which I have) and the regular road type (which is what I think you bought).

So it probably has no expiry date and is not acceptable as you surmised.

Say hello to the folks at Stable Energies for me since they are your best choice for acceptable belts. Try to get here ASAP and we can get TJ or someone to get your drivers side changed over on Friday.

I don't think I have a choice at this point, too much money committed with no exit strategy. Emailed Chris at Redline about the miscommunication to see if there is any resolve that can come out with belts that I won't have any use for and a new belts from Stable Energies will cost me ~$400+ for driver alone.

Alas everything is packed and it is what it is.

I shouldn't have a problem swapping the belts myself in the parking lot of the hotel if everything goes right. Might have to research location for 2pt extra attachments but I'm sure there tech questions will be easily referenced with that many people down there.

You need a second person to install rapidly. Seat has to come out. Best get here to TJs garage near NJMP and we try to help you

If it’s any consolation your post just surfaced another two people who made the same error. So your public service announcement was helpful to wake people up on the problem.

You can come straight to my garage at the track and we do it inside in air conditioned comfort - Tom C, Steve and by then Tom G will be here to assist you knock it out quickly. Doing it outside in the blazing sun by yourself is not going to be any fun.

Yellowss7 made the same goof on the banana car so he will be wearing the same expression of frustration as you!

The instructions did have contact numbers once you reach the track but if you lost them, just come to the gate and ask for the "Exotic Car Garages" then look for the last building (4th in line).

For those who have not yet hit the road - Don’t Forget your pre-inspection form. Sitting here with my coffee I just remembered mine!

I printed the form by printing Crocs pictures of it.

Were we supposed to get an email or something with the actual form attached?

Did you ever give me your email?

TJ and Ian will be teaching at my garage this afternoon. They have spares.

I'm about an hour away right now from the hotel caught in the rain. Not sure if I'll be able to make it down to the track or the garages and the schedule in that regard. Will likely try to swap the belts in the parking lot unless the people who know better give me a green light to go elsewhere after the hotel

Saturday schedule is:

7.15-30 breakfast at the clubhouse.

7.30 tech opens

8.30 drivers meeting

10.15 first session for sevens (third session of the day)

I suggest you get here and we persuade TJ and Ian to fixing your belts (they are modest in their fee) and then they tech your car. Should be able to make a 10.15 session.
