Lotus Owners Gathering - LOG 39

I’ve spent the last 2+ years restoring a 1972 Lotus Europa which I planned on taking to LOG39. A number of PALS members and I had planned a “road trip” to and from LOG with all of us traveling together. We were leaving on Thursday morning from my house in Princeton. I finished my restoration on Wednesday night......

My entire restoration is well documented on the Europa.org web site, but for the sake of just giving you the LOG39 part of my “blog” start at this point to read all about the adventures of going to LOG39.

Hey Glen (aka: Certified Lotus Nut:)): I enjoyed every sentence of your write up and every photo! I hated to see it end. They say adventure begins when plans fall apart(I think that's an old Lotus adage), so you started off with great adventure. Major props for sticking it out and returning to the road in your Europa.

Even your Europa looks big next to the Elan photos. The V8 Europa sort of defies belief (Go Buick, er,... Rover)! The Camaro at Lime Rock looks like a school bus next to the Lilliputian Loti scattered around the parking lot.

Great to see so many lotus faithful keeping the dream alive. And how about the person who brought their car from Hawaii, yow!

Glen, really great write up that captures the spirit and fun of doing a group tour. The only downside to reading it is that I'm now compelled to read the fist 70 pages of your thread. I guess I know how I'm spending the weekend...

Next year LOG is in Salt lake City and will have a large West coast attendance. Hopefully we can get a bunch of sevens there as well.

KitKat and JohnCh, thanks for your complements and I’m glad you enjoyed my “story”. The Europa TC is my fourth classic Lotus restoration in five years and it’s been quite the journey.

My wife and I are relocating (retirement) and I have two Lotus Elan’s and this Europa for sale. Just in case any Seven Owners want to add another Lotus to their collection.......

Geez Glen, I would not have picked you as ready for that. Don't tempt me with an Elan. Love those things.

It’s been a long term plan Mike. Downsizing and traveling a lot more. Will no longer have a full shop to work on cars (my choice). I’ve got lots of hobbies so no issue for me. You should really look at my S1 Elan. It’s built as a GTS Elan and is a rare car being an original Borne Body serial number (only 400 were made).

Hi Mike, I saw Glen’s car down at Croc’s garage at NJMP this spring for a Lotus gathering. It’s really nice and reliable. About as new as your going to get.Glen has the skills, knowledge and money to do a resto correctly. You know you really need this now that you retired... I didn’t drive it because Croc was kind enough to let me loose in his Ferrari.. Have a great weekend..

Thanks for the photos Bob, and thanks for your write-up Glen.

I saw a video recently of a Lotus IX body being rebuilt at Wray Schelin's shop, here:

I wonder if that's the same one that was at LOG? With the number of Lotus IX's in the US I'm thinking it could be.
