It was a Ford Mustang. Crude but . . . maybe with a better car.

Would the Holman Moody have fit the bill?

90db limit on Tuesday. My 65 Holman Moody Mustang has been tested at 115db at full stretch down a straight. Could you imagine the look on the noise tester's face?

"PS where is Panamericano who was trolling me on this topic earlier?"

Lurking. Someone once said, "If you don't have anything to say, keep your mouth shut."

Oh no Mark - you started this so you are in. If I go to CA to do tracks in my seven then you are joining me with your Birkin (I think I remembered right?). With your mischievous humor you will fit in just perfect! :seeya:

Great sound suppression kit. For autocross, I carry a holey tin can, steel wool and safety wire. I have not had to use it, but did loan to a Ariel driver and it worked. I was at 102, but they didn't come talk to me. (Bad breath?)

A bunch of us (San Diego Lotus Club) are doing a Star Car event at Chuckwalla over the weekend of 28 December. Come on out. My '62 should be all broken in by then. I just fitted the lap belts and bled the brakes tonight.

My old seven was clocked at 107db on a 92 db day which led to a lot of waving and signs to stop from the corner workers as soon as I passed the sound station. I knew it wouldn't pass sound and was only there for a sound check but 107 was quite a bit higher than what I was expecting to get :)

Have they imposed a db limit at Chuckwalla? I ran a test day there in a vintage FV when it first opened. Great "7" course as I recall. It can get quite windy out there. Remember, the nearest hotel is 50 miles away back in Thermal! You need to bring everything with you. it's remote. They do, however, have a short (3500" or so, uncontrolled) runway adjacent to the track. According to the fellow who was running it, the site was chosen due to it's central location between Los Angeles, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Just looked it up. I doubt there is any noise restrictions given the only neighbors are Chuckwallas (cute little fellas!). Long way from anywhere - 3.5 hours drive from LA/LV/Phoenix.

I imagine it gets hot in summer? Just waiting to be told it is a "dry heat" so dont worry...

Apparently, the US Army trained all of the tank drivers out there during WWII before the North Africa operations. You're right though, it's definitely a dry heat.

Either you meant to type 3500', or that is one seriously short runway! Reminds me of the stonehenge in the movie "This is Spinal Tap".
