I think NJMP is 2x what the Palm Beach club costs. There is a little racecourse 3 hours from me called Putnam Park racetrack. Membership is a mere $7.5K plus $5K a year for a minimum of 3 years. It's in rural Indiana among the farms. Every year they do a fundraiser for the local FFA. Shane knows what that is:). Different vibe than Europe, south FL, or NJMP.

Its different. The upfront cost is $16-17k these days - may even be more as I have not checked it in a while. But the trick is to buy in at year end when they have specials to boost members - you can get 40%+ off then if you time it right. Annual dues are $2600. But then members pay $195 per day to access the track via the assigned dates - about 47 days a year. I dont think you pay per day at Palm Beach.

Arguably NJMP is better too - two full sized separate tracks, go kart facility, pool, clubhouse/bar/restaurant, more facilities, etc.

Same limitation on guests exists at NJMP too.

I wonder if Croc already has his flights booked for the event?

Not this one. I will be heading to Spa-Francorchamps on March 23/24 with my Caterham. I prefer Spa over Nurburgring (the Ring) - I am done driving Nurburgring unless it is a dedicated track day with limited numbers - its too risky otherwise. Would happily go back to Nurburg GP circuit - I like that one.

I have rented through RSR Nurburg before for Nurburgring. Great outfit. A few friends, including Rahul on this forum, rented through RSR Spa for the two Spa-Francorchamps days last year. Their track days are very high end. Expensive machinery. Very good driving standard. Not very crowded. Full hospitality.

Croc, you forgot the AX throwing venue. We definitely have to add that to our activities this year. :lurk:

NY Times has an article today on this very subject. Lots of expensive track clubs around. What about joining the Thermal Club you se7ers in Calif: 4 tracks, 2 restaurants, initiation fee is $85K (cheap) monthly dues are $1.2K and members are obligated to buy a lot and build a house there within 5 years (lots go for a very reasonable $750K and finished homes going for $3M, again, totally affordable:)). And more of these are opening up in mostly high income areas around the country including The Concours Club in Miami (a 6 figure initiation fee, etc).

The happy members all seem to say the same thing: they just don't get the same adrenaline rush from golf that they get on the track. Tell me about it.

Ever been to Thermal? Aside from the facility, it's similar to the surface of the moon only considerably hotter. No trouble getting the tires up to temperature. The bigger challenge is staying hydrated.

I suspect that I could figure out a way to stay hydrated in my 8-15 thousand square foot "villa" overlooking my exotic cars and the race track. Only problem I can foresee is that it is more likely that I would find myself on the surface of the moon than being able to afford a "villa" at the Thermal Club. The fellow who owns the dealership I bought my Vette from drives a beautiful McLaren 720s and is a very nice man. Maybe he could afford the freight and let me play with my Corvette I bought from his dealership on his track? I wouldn't be so bold as to invite myself as an overnight villa guest.

Not only are se7ens addictive but some of the accompanying lifestyle scenarios could certainly become addictive if someone would just gift me a few million bucks. Broken down old psychologists just can't handle the freight I am afraid:drool:

Its not even a great track to drive. It was solely designed to maximize real estate frontage on the race track for visual appeal. Pity they ignored driver enjoyment.

Oh no, you don't need 8-15000 sqft villa. I make do with 1500 sqft on my ground floor level and one night we managed to squeeze in 12 sevens and a 1965 Mustang. :troll:

And with my fridge capacity upstairs and downstairs for beer, wine, mixers for spirits, coca cola, more beer, sprite, cherry coke, orange tangerine coke, cream soda, more wine, bitter lemon, mountain dew, and some unhealthly ladies drink called water, neither myself or any of my guests ever lack hydration.

I have always been amazed how psychologists can solve everyone else's problems but not their own... :seeya:
