Wrapping a Seven instead of painting it?... any thoughts?

I have started thinking of how I want my finished Birkin to look.... and was wondering if it is worth wrapping it instead of painting it... on the assumption that it will be cheaper.... and the aluminum would still be there in case I want that back at some

stage?.....

has anybody done this with a Seven?..... would it stand up to the heat around the Collector pipes exiting the

engine compartment?

any thoughts welcome:)

It’s been done. Steve (forum name: Merlin) did it on his fairly new XS Birkin. It was a silver Martini livery. I would send a PM and see if you can get his input.

If I see him tomorrow (he’s a neighbor) then I will ask him to check in.

Yes it has been done.

I've done a few wrap jobs but never a seven yet. Overall seven will be pretty easy with exception of hood (slats are killer) and nose cone.

Professionals are able to do nose cone in one piece. I don't think I'd be able to do it like that.

Not a wrap but I had my Caterham completely covered with clear bra. 11 years on the road and 28k miles and no sign of melting, not even around the hole where the 3" very hot down pipe from the turbo exited the body.

Hi Clark - I talked with Steve yesterday and saw his Birkin. No issues with the wrap near the exhaust. As exhaust passes through body from engine bay to outside, no issues. There is a strip of edging trim around the metal edges which protects things too. He said the wrap was done by Tom Carlin of Birkin America. So your friendly Birkin dealer has all the information you need.

Saw this on instagram

That is impressive. I'm helping my son wrap his project car and know enough now to know it isn't easy... kind of nightmarish dealing with big pieces and complex curves. No idea how they got that nose cone in one piece.

Very impressive to have it done in once piece.

I've had vinyl experience and I have no idea how they manage to pull that off. Takes a real honed skill
