I am coming out of the closet.....

Recommended Posts

I bought Orange http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/1209.gif

After a week of staring at the pictures and drooling on the computer thinking I was going to miss out on such an opportunity, my wife turned to me and said "would you stop staring at that picture and just buy the thing already!" http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/1074.gif

Somehow I think I may have made a deal with the devil on that one, it's already started with the back massages :skep:

After a week of talking on the phone with Al, I feel that not only have I gained a beautiful car, I have made a new friend and I look forward to him getting back into the Seven saddle.

Sadly for Orange's East Coast friends the car will be moving to the West Coast, but if it makes you feel any better, I am a New Yorker/Bostonian (only lived here in CA for 3 years). ;)

The SoCal Seveners have been fantastic in helping me make my decision, they gave me advice and even let me drive their cars.

Thanks to Tony V and Boxologist for their general advice about sevens as well

Thanks again to Al for everything

Look forward to becoming a part of the community and going on plenty of blats!

Morgan

Woohoo MoPho :D

Congrats on the purchase.

Make sure you introduce Orange to some track times.

You're flying to NY and driving it, right? It'd be a nice initiation.

Actually guys, I think Orange's goodbye party is the Carlisle meet...mebbe we should all sign the inside of the bonnet?!?

FYI...I called of Broadway Blat on May 10th...need to get Orange home in one piece! See some of you on the 17th. And please don't tease or cajole Morgan about/into auto-xing as much as you have me!

---

Not entirely joking, this could be a nice tradition at meets.

Hey, at least my speedo/odo works! (I'm looking at you, SnakeBit.) :jester:

As for mods, besides getting some 13 x8" wheels and slicks...I've already told Morgan that he should find about $2K for the Ford Racing head, porting and polishing, and some even hotter cams.

I know a few people who would be interested in the existing head, so he can sell it to offset the new new head.

LOL, it took me two days to convince WM that I wasn't lying about it!

My sense of adventure says to drive it across, but in reality I would rather put the miles on the car driving twisty mountain rds (wouldn't have the time to do a cross country trip on the fun roads) and it actually would be about the same money to ship it

I have to sell my Elan before I can do any modding. I am sure the car will be more than enough for a while

Hey, at least my speedo/odo works!

Phew, I knew I forgot to ask you something :D

Actually, that is good to know because I would like to some of the road/navigation rallies out here

If you do decide to drive across, you have a place to stay near Denver and I can show you roads across the Rockies that will really put that new car to its intended purpose.

The invite to stopover here is open to anyone on this forum who happens to be driving across the country.

As Skip says you can also stop over here in KC at my place if you want. Now all you all you have to do is find some one in UTAH and you got it made, Russ

Morgan, you've purchased an excellent 7, but you may need to do several autoxs to retrain it. It seems that in its only autox outing, it refused to follow the course for its original owner.

Best of luck with it. Tom

Congrats MoPho,

If you ever feel like getting out of the LA mountains and the coast (can't imagine why anyone would) we have some great roads in the foothills of Bakersfield (believe it or not). Not a lot of CHP etc either.

Of course, don't bother in the summer months unless your awefully early in the morning:)

I had that problem too, but of course my first one was in the snow :p

Would love to!

I've been up there, know Caliente- Bodfish rd and Brekenridge rds, and around lake isabella, shoot magazine stuff up there every now and then.

Fabulous rds!!

Morgan: Great to see you coming out with an understanding wife!! Sounds as though you are on the verge of the dreaded upgradeitis, a financially debilitating malady. Before you undertake ANY mods be sure that you have spoken with those of us that have followed that path to ruin. The collected mistakes/wisdom will be beneficial.

You have corralled one of the better 7s that I have seen offered for sale. Am excited to see it. Please bring it to SD for an autoX or two. You will learn some about the handling/performance of your 7. Our next track day @ the Streets of Willow will give you a chance to meet a bunch of the lunatic fringe of sportscar ownership (7 owners). The last weekend of sept with the LA Shelby Club is the plan.

For the past month or so I figured that you were a gang member with a name like MoPho. Turns out that you are even more of a menace to society, a 7 owner........

Welcome aboard!!!

MONDO: I spent last friday towing my 7 two hundred fifty five miles from my San Diego home to Buttonwillow Raceway in order to meet 4 other 7s for a weekend at the track. Mapquest tells me that Buttonwillow is 28 miles northwest of Bakersfield. Next time please join the lads for some fun which could range from driving to barbeque and some lieing over a few cervezas. ALL 7 types and enthusiasts are always welcome!!!!! Also, please join us @ the Streets of Willow in Sept. This is within about an hour of Bakersfield (215 miles from SD). Brad

Thanks Roll,

My plan for this car was to be able to drive to Buttonwillow and Willowsprings for a day of hot laps (don't know how realistic this is).

Bakersfield is pretty much in the middle, a little over an hour to WS & less to BW:thumbs: Have done a couple of track days on my sportbike at Willow Spring's big track.

I'd love to meet you guys and get some tips on driving these things. Keep me posted

PS - If you spend a few days up here I can show you the roads that MoPho is talking about (spent the last 5 years doing them on a sportbike:eek:

Hello Morgan,

Boy keeping my mouth shut for the past couple of days about your aquision of Al's car was tough. I am glad that you and Al were able to come to an agreement and that someone with the passion you have for cars is the new owner.

Al so you know when you read this post Orange will be in good hands and well taken care of.

When you head up to Mondo's realm you need to stop in Ventura and I will also get my car out and we can make a day of it also or you can just giv me a shout and we can explore the roads between Ventura and LA along the coast. It was neat to read Al's urgency to get orange out of the store display in NY knowing that you were going to be the next owner. Can only imagine how anxious you must now be until you have Orange in your garage.
