JohnCh
Well, I won`t be the next owner of that Orange SR27. Dino and Paul canceled the sale at the last minutes. They are keeping the car it seams. Based on your earlier post, it sounded like you had already come to agreement on terms of the sale. Was that just anticipation on your end, or did they change their mind after the fact? shiva
Based on your earlier post, it sounded like you had already come to agreement on terms of the sale. Was that just anticipation on your end, or did they change their mind after the fact? We had a meeting and time, money was even transfered and my truck was rented. Only thing left was picking it up. bummer indeed, but being them I would have kept it too!

Avery Waterman
So, Dino and Paul, why no deal but silence? Just testing and not selling?

shiva
Ended up getting "most" of my money, now I just need to figure out what to do from here. Should I build my own SR27 or go with something else. But damn the SR20DET engine is a sweet one.

athens7
As important as word of mouth is to any business, but especially small, specialist companies like the ones that serve our hobby, some type of response to/clarification of this transaction would seem to be a necessity. shiva
don't want to go further... Still have to talk to paul to come to a deal. But let's just say that converting currency twice on that kind of amount ain't cheap change... I really don't want to bad mouth Deman on all of this... I want to give them a chance to make this right. As stated, small company like this with the small market share seven have.. wouldn't be good. gjslutz
"If" the deal is as stated, shiva has more self control than I ever had. And then most of the money was returned? In all of my dealing I never had anything close to this.
yellowss7
:toetap: :bs:  :cuss: :banghead: :boxing: Does that sum it up? I had a really bad experience with a Caterham Dealer when I ordered my Kit. Some of these guys are just..... :_deadhorse: Never mind :leaving: Tom
supersportsp
Well, I have to agree with gjslutz, shiva is demonstrating a great deal of self control. I imagine this is extra difficult because of the international nature of the transaction. I would be looking to be made more than whole in this situation. You had a contract, money was transfered and you even rented a truck to go pick it up etc. I would think all of your money back, transaction costs covered and a big discount on a new SR27. WestTexasS2K
Im stumped, not good for future buyers. Backing out on deal and leaving the buyer holding a bag that is lighter than the bag they gave you. Since a good chunk of US 7 owners and future owners browse this site it would seem prudent to answer a few questions. Just my 2. Hope the Deman boys will chime in here. Kitcat
There may be more, or less, to this than we think. Hard to tell when you only hear one side. I don't think Shiva is saying they kept his money. Rather that he lost money due to exchange rates and cost of converting curency (Euros are more expensive to buy than you get when you sell them, for example). I had rented a van and trailer and had money set aside and a date to pick up a Seven before I got the one I have. I had airplane ticket. But.... We didn't have a final deal, just a 99% final one and the last 1% was its undoing.
Dave Mooney
One point to stress, this is Deman USA not Deman Motorsports in Ontario Canada. I have dealt with Dan directly and everything was smooth sailing. I hope that Paul and Dino will speak up, but let's not besmirch Deman Motorsports et al. Just my 2cents (or wad of benjamins, thats how I prefer to do business), Dave

Deman USA
We did not keep the money, Shiva will get back the dollar amount that was lost in the conversion. We did send extra to cover the truck rental, the reason for stopping the deal was that looking at all the paper work that we were putting together for Shiva to have, we came across every receipt that we have on the SR27. I agree that we should of came accross this sooner but we did not. After realizing that at 30K Shiva was buying this car at a 58% discount, we stoped to think that this is to big of a hit to take. We appoloize for what we put Shiva through, but i would like to clear up that we do not take peoples money.
