Oyagi
It seems that although Caterham and other makers have taken over and far exceeded Lotus in production numbers people still like to refer to their cars as a "lotus" when talking to others. Am I right in that? I find myself more and more just calling it a Lotus after I've let people know I just bought a new toy to save on the hassle of explaining what it is. The reaction when I show them pics on my iPhone has been priceless. My wife calls it a "motorcycle car", my co-worker called it a "dune buggy" and "one of those antqiue cars you drive on a rail at the amusement park", while my 9 yr son called it Jar Jar Binks http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4044/4185624357_bd4d4c94c9.jpg http://thehomestarmy.com/s9y/uploads/Curtis/Jar-Jar-Binks.jpeg

MHKflyer52
The actual name / make on the data plate mounted to the firewall on my car reads: "ALDO TS1 LOTUS SUPER 7" MFG: RELLEK POWER MASTER NEWBERG OR. My wife actually came up with the name when I was building the car. Her explanation to the ALDO TS1 was this "Aldo a reference to my Italian heritage and the TS1 she said stands for Testosterone Special One". I laughed when she told me that that I immediately figured that when I did title the car the data plate would have to have that on it so here is a photo of the data plate. scannon
When people ask what it is I tell them "Caterham 7". For the few who have heard of Caterham that is sufficient but when I see the look of non-comprehension or hear "huh" I tell them that it is a Lotus 7 and that when Lotus stopped making them Caterham bought the rights and continued on. Most of them have heard of Lotus and some of those even know what a Lotus 7 is. For short, I call her the Cat, which is what ended up on the title. According to Colorado law it should have been titled as Kit but I'm happy with having Cat on there.

Mondo
I explain it's a loose replica of a 60's Lotus 7. After that, I call it Lotus because if I say "the 7" or something similar they don't remember the 7 part of my explanation, just the Lotus part. Hank
When the middle aged black man at the Wendy's drive-thru asked if the Megabusa was a PT Cruiser I told him no, it is a 2011 Mazda Miata R. And for the record it's difficult to drive a Seven 10 miles to the hangout spot with a large sweet tea and no cupholders.
MightyMike
My 10-year old daughter calls my car Cheryl. I introduce my car as a Birkin S3, but end up restating that it is a Lotus 7 replica.

SkinnyG
It's named The Lethal Locost. I refer to it at home as the Lotus "I'm going to take the Lotus to work." I tell people it's a Lotus Seven replica. I describe it as "Looks like a coffin with fenders, and about as safe."
pi7ot
I call it the 7, or I did until last spring. The last time I drove it, It bogged, popped, skipped and hopped. It would not accept throttle. I yelled "you Piece of Crap!" and the car took the throttle I had and zinged the engine. A few seconds later whisps of smoke were curling thru the passenger side footwell. I parked it, and covered it up. haven't seen it since. Rebuild this winter, I guess. m
solder_guy
It's the Rotus with family. With others I call it the "Lotus Rotus" .. that is good enough for most car people. Some will say, "yeah I knew that was a Lotus." One guy told my nephew, "I knew that was an original Lotus, because I've seen these cars and I know the difference!" He just grinned! Croc
I have not really named my current car other than call it "Seven." However, my first Seven (1965 Series 2) was called "Elvis" by my father, because it had so many hits on the racetrack from my driving.
lancylad
Super 7 when asked, Linda (my Wife) has named the car( Her Madge ) as in Royalty. So now I take "Madge" for a run.
readysetgo
I originally didn't want a car with a Lotus emblem on the nose, because I was just waiting for so ass to try to call me out, that it not a really lotus... I'm alway suprised by the amount for people that yell "nice seven" at me, didn't think that many had any idea what it was. I figure I can call it a Lotus Super Seven, because most people with a cobra replica, would just call it a Shelby Cobra.
