How often should you change the air in tires?

Actually saw this in another forum and made me laugh.... thought it would make a good topic for April Fools Day but couldn't wait.

 

Have you heard anything similar?

Actually I think your supposed to rotate the air. It's a bit more expensive but worth it in the long run!:banghead:

It's better to alternate between air and nitrogen. Change monthly.

I used to work with a guy that thought the same thing. He felt the air got stale and ruined the rubber we just shake our heads in wonder.

I worked with a guy who changed all the light bulbs and fuses in his Toyota pickup every year. It wouldn't surprise me if he changed the air in his tires as well.

It may sound like overkill, but I’ve been using 100% organic air from the Sahara desert for the last couple of years. Not only is it much drier than the air here in the PNW but it has natural damping qualities that enable the tires to run at lower pressure. It's a little pricey due to the shipping charges, but the handling improvement is noticeable. My tires are also lasting longer, so I'm saving some money there.

 

I’m happy to contact the importer and arrange a group buy if there is sufficient interest.

Sounds like a real plan! I'd like to investigate the possibility of an air tank exchange program similar to propane tank exchanges currently available at supermarkets, and a mobile air exchange service....we come to you at your convenience. Maybe we could start a franchise business. Look at all the tires out there that have never had their air replaced....way overdue for this type of service! Advice, suggestions, inputs? We should jump all over this before before someone else snags the concept and locks up the patents!!!!!!!!

Ha... We used to send the student employees to the far end of the shop to ask the techs for a "Large Can of A-I-R". and when I worked in resturants, the new guy would spent hours looking for the "bacon stretcher"...

I find hydrogen works really well. The reduced unsprung weight shaves at least a second off my quarter mile times.

Dealers already ask if you have "winter air" or "summer air" in your tires.

 

This is stealership speak for adding a few pounds of air to the tires in the winter to account for the colder temps.

I have solved this problem by filling my tires with water. Once I finally get rolling its pretty smooth.

And can you imagine the tidal effects that could have on your suspension components!?! It could wear out the suspension without ever driving the car!! :rofl:
