So winter is arriving - what are your planned winter upgrades for your Se7en?

My plan for winter is to build a new Se7en so I have no upgrades as such.

However, I would like to shamelessly steal ideas from others here as I ponder the very long option list and try to work out what I want.... . On second thoughts why don't I just tick everything on the option list :D

Clearly no Californian or Florida resident needs to chime in here - they have no winter that the rest of us have to deal with! I am just a jealous north easter... :p

no plans here... add some rivets to the side panels - I had not riveted them in completely - just in case, and it's time to do that.

What I really need to do is design and build hood/windshield/dash area, but don't even feel like starting that project.

IF I can find the time, I plan to replace the windscreens with the Poycarbonate with the scratch resistant finish.

Right now the Ultralite is just sitting in the garage with a battery tender on it. The battery will likely be replaced in the spring, it was getting weak. I have a very small battery from a Ski Doo, and it has been reliable until last week.

I'll be doing one at a time so that if there is a day i can sneak out for a quick blat my little car wont be laying in pieces. Not to much chance of that this week, yesterday was minus 35C. Still trying to decide whether to go TPS or MAP on the Mega Jolt??

Skid Plate for engine area you'll never regret it if you have one.

Tom will the new rollbar mean that you have to re-do your enclosed trailer or will you just let the air out of the tires to get it inside of the trailer.

After ten years of doing basically nothing to the car, (I ordered it with everything I wanted) at LOG 30 I picked up a Tall rollbar and a set of Brookland screens from Bart Lami, and I bought a third brake light to mount on the rollbar. I'm just about to place an order with Caterham for a bunch of service items, like oil filters and a new brake light switch, etc.

So with Al Gores prediction of Global Warming I may be able to do some work in the garage. Otherwise it will be a springtime job. That being said, said, it was actually snowing here this morning. Well, Flurrying heavily, no accumulation.

It will start as a CSR Superlight. Given the shocking weather in NYC today (sleet) and drinking the better part of a bottle of red wine I seem to have accidentally on purpose ticked every possible option box on top of that as I work to get a final parts/goodies list together for final factory order on Monday. It will even have self-cancelling indicators! So it will probably end up as a CSR Superfat.

Mike,

That is known as an "Executive Superlight" -- or so Nathan Down dubbed my S3, after finally putting everything in and on it that I wanted.

I got my "upgrade-itis" done before, and not after.

Which motor/trans option did you tick on that list?

I settled on the Duratec Cosworth 260 with the Caterham 6 speed box. However I have the Cosworth Duratec catalog of goodies that you can buy to take that further:

and so I am still dreaming as to what else I could do....

My common sense and budget have disappeared so I am easily swayed by wicked suggestions for upgrades.

Sensible decision to do upgrade-itis first - that is my plan too - stops any further temptation and may actually be cheaper in the long run (so I falsely tell myself). As your car is an S3 chassis it is more worthy of being called an Executive Superlight.

A CSR is an SV sumo chassis so I settled on Superfat to distinguish it from your lithe and svelte creation.

I need to rebuild the Zetec and reconfigure the crankcase vent to accommodate a BMW M3 separator.

A new crank position sensor and a cam position sensor.

Some new full tread Rcomps NT01s or RA1s.

Won't begin until spring though.

I see mention of 300hp in the catalog. Since common sense and budget are no longer considerations, I say go for the most hp you can get. How many times are you going to be able to build one of these? Do it!

The correct moniker for the SV is "Fat Bastard". A name bestowed by the person who was responsible for making the S3 into the SV, Nathan Down. I prefer to think of SV standing for Super Veloce a name brazenly stolen by the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. :D
