On the road at last

I see that I joined in 2007 and have two posts! I guess I was a little intimidated by all the "real" sevens and clones on here. But I can see that every one seems to be welcome so after getting on the road this fall I thought I would show off my pride and joy. Scratch built except for the fiberglass it is powered by a slightly modified Toyota 4AGE running Weber carbs. I think it probably puts out about 160 to 170HP and weighs 1275lbs. with half a tank of gas. Anyway here it is..................

Congratulations!!!! And welcome to the club! I admire anyone who can 'scratch build' a seven. Great looking ride. Please forgive the color of the text (or just enjoy the humor), but you did say all the JD jokes had been used up. :D

p.s. curious about those wheels????

A scratch build always deserves big thunbs up for effort, skill, and a job well done! :cooldude:

Interesting choice of engine - dont see many Toyota powered sevens running around. I never really understood why - light, powerful, good power, high revs - are parts a problem?

To answer xcarguy, those wheels look suspiciously like Toyota Celica wheels from the early to mid 1980s?

Well, I'm waiting for someone like you who also has pride & joy and a bit intimidated to show off their clone. My hat to those who started it from scratch.

Most seven here are beautiful & clean.

I'm getting bolder now since you posted yours.....maybe I need to show mine.

Have to go along with everyone else with the respect.... Heck, my skill level barely allows me to be able to replace parts (righty tighty-lefty loosy), would never consider "making" something.

From one scratch builder to another that is very nice. :cooldude:

I like your dash layout, much more though out than the way I did mine.

Post sme more photos when you have the time.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Stock Toyota, just painted. the drifter types call them "pizza cutters"

Very nice. I admit I'd be a bit nervous driving without a roll bar, though.

Old school or as David Hobbs would say I have large attachments:D

1hckb2, I'm in Kamloops and we've met. I'm Crystal's cousin.

The mirrors do work but the side one was added in a hurry for the inspector, it was a universal mount from a motorcycle shop.

I'll post some more pics and video in the spring..............

I'd always thought that Toyota engines were among the most common and best choices for 7s. It certainly seems to be the way a lot of 7s were put together in Canada (particularly BC), perhaps because of Fejer and another cottage industry builder on Vancouver Island in the 80s.

Nice job on the build, btw. Have fun with it.
