The American Job - A Sevens Adventure

Recommended Posts

A video from the US East Coast group of Seven enthusiasts track weekend on June 22/23 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Lightning Circuit.

It is based on The Italian Job - the original Michael Caine one (the best one IMHO). All the voiceovers and music comes from there. You will see the blasted Miata (Mafia?) makes an appearance all too much as his driving was so bad, creating interesting moments trying to get around him as he refused to give a point by.

It is in 720HD good enough for larger viewing window it you select from the cogged wheel in the bottom left of the YT screen.

There material to the end of the song despite where the credit page comes up.

If any of those joined in the fun that day want to buy a set of track photos from the weekends I can send you a set by flash drive or upload through Dropbox. Price is $50 which is 50% off the price charged by the photographer as we negotiated bulk deal. Includes all cars not just yours.

Thanks to everyone for making such a fun annual event - bring on 2014!

Brilliant!

I need to get that little horn I kept hearing:)!

I started to cringe everytime I saw my car (now what have I done?:)).

Excellent mix of sights and sounds.

I dont want to think of how much boring tape you watched but I don't think you missed a single one of my misadventures.

Where did you get the out of car video of us on track?

I will send my $50 for the photo CD.

Can't wait for 2014.

I did leave out 2 clips of you getting the left front into the dirt at turn 1. I also left out the clips of you in your underwear trying to fathom how a GoPro works at home before the event  - that will teach me to copy everyones GoPro memory cards without checking recorded date. Thanks for the tour of your basement and garage too!

There was 125GB of video to review. :ack: I also left out 1 off moment on for MichaelD and myself each.

That little mini horn is from the movie and I only used it on your car twice in one clip when the Miata was being an obstruction (again) and I thought you were justified in using it. MichaelD was always using his horn.

The trackside video was beautifully done by Gus (I put him in the credits), who was with Stewart. Very steady hands and a great camera - should have taken note of what model it was as the images are excellent.

Croc:

All future memory cards will be well cleansed before each track day (that could have been a lot more embarrassing:))!

I tried to do the ''trail-braking" technique our classroom instructor suggested (tho he didnt call it that) and, as a consequence, I was carring lots more speed into turn one and running off.

It was a great way to practice the habit of trying not to jerk the car back on the track as soon as the wheels go off. I consider that lesson # 1 in the pantheon of important track-driving lessons. So many drivers' instinct is to yank the car back on track, the drivers' front wheel then catchs the edge of the track and around they go-sometimes right into the trafffic behind them(:.

Watched it last night, and appreciate that you were able to incorporate a portion of the 5 total laps I ran over the weekend. Not an easy task. :)

Great stuff, already looking forward to 2014! If the NJ F1 race happens (I know, I'm not holding my breath either), would be great to combine the two. F1 Sunday, trackday Monday/Tuesday - or something like that.

Mike,

Thank you for a very well done clip. What a great way to bring back the memories. I can't imagine where you get talent and the time. The music and the little chats and oh yes that Beep Beep :-) were a classic touch.

Steve, how is your engine?

I am just well endowed :D

Seriously, I enjoy the mental challenge of something like this. It takes away from the stresses of work and forces me to relax by doing something completely different. I also have a lot of downtime spending 120,000 miles on aircraft each year and the associated airports wasting time.

Al you are just a a naughty little crumpet - you only watched 5 seconds. If you were patient like me and stopped surfing the Victoria Secret website site for long enough  (that size is too large - she is far more petite than that and anything but fuchsia in color!)....anyway....you would have noticed that at the end they feature all the lovely cars and their studly drivers . I would like to have a studly driver...hint hint! :cooldude: Can we go and watch next year? Please, please pretty please!!!!!

Al, you still didn't answer her question. You'd think that as the President of this site you'd be more than eager to join the party and meet up with a bunch of 7 enthusiasts almost in your own backyard. What gives? Are you going to bring her around for us to see?

Bess is in NJ, but in the shop right now getting some minor things sorted. I hope to have her out and about by Sept. Depending on my family schedule, may bring her up to LRP for vintage weekend (as spectator).
