Good bit of work if you want to treat it like a normal car (traffic and highway cruise). I'd paint the steel floor drop, remove the oil cooler and switch back to standard drive pulleys, then upgrade the fan if needed, probably a more conservative, leaner tune with smaller chokes or revised pedal ratio, swap for longer, softer springs, and fit a standard screen/wipers/bikini top over a traditional roll bar.  None of the removed parts are available except the rearview mirror. Due to the racing gear set installed in the T9, if the final drive is 4.11:1 (doesn't say but best case for the gear set) then highway cruise is 62 mph at 3k, with city crawl at 12.24 mph at 2k.

That is the T9 v6 gearset but with a 2.83 first to replace a v6 3.36. In comparing to a standard, 4 cyl T9 gearset with a hypothetical 3.55 axle, 2k is a more traffic/clutch friendly 11 mph vs 12.24mph, with 3k cruise at 73 mph vs 62 mph. That sounds like a decent combo for my driving. A truck trans would be even better cruise when geared for the same 11 mph but of course, a slightly wider spread but I think it would pull it considering power-to-weight.

Looked like a great buy to me, any decent Seven under 20 grand is a no brainer. Issues were mentioned previously, new Sevens have issues. That’s all part of the joys of owning one.. That’s what I was told 20 years ago when I bought mine brand new..🤪

Did not see anyone link this yet.  Saw it in person today.  Ten years old and only 2,800 miles. You can tell it was well cared for and loved.  Last owner only raced it, so never registered in Arizona, only titled.  Trailered it everywhere.  Titled as a 2014 Caterham.  I think for me in Arizona (its in Arizona) that makes it a bit more difficult to own.  Would have to get regular emissions testing it and regular insurance (not historic).  Doable, just more pain.

In az if you get specialty car (limited use) insurance you can get it emissions exempt.  When I bought my 2014 Stalker I had to first do that to transfer the title into state then with the stalker paperwork could get it retitled as a 1962.  I don't know if caterham provides any paperwork stating it is a replica of a 1960s car but the first part should still hold true to avoid emissions

I assume that applies to Maricopa County.  I vagely remember that specialty car / limitied use.  Will have to look into it some more, thank you

This was in Pima county, I would hope both are similar, but hope is not the best strategy.

You may not have the car but you will always have those exceptional 911r photos of it.  Truly art. All of their listing pics are so distinctively theirs.  You should ask for high res versions of a couple of your favorites!

The Roadsport listed on BAT by 911R is mine.

it is a SV with 175 hp.  I registered it in Maricopa County and it passed smog at State station.   It was a bucket list car for me and it has been a ton of fun.

Went down to see it.  Can tell you really took great care of it.  Interesting that you never registered the car, only titled.  I was wondering how easy it would be to get it registered under the specialty registration since it is titled a 2014.  Watching it to see if it falls in my range/budget.

No sale on cars and bids 7

Carsandbids is 1 for 3 so far for Caterham sales. Not a good look in that regard.

Was thinking of bidding on it, but could tell it was not going to reach reserve.  I came upon it just this morning, was late to the dance.  There were to many questions for me without answers like what is under the wrap (was assumung the worse, full repaint and some panel replacement, never saw a photo of the windshield, where specifically the "corrosion" was.  I looked at it as a a driver until next summer (being in Arizona) and then full re-build down to the frame over the summer.  Might reach out to the owner.......

Newb question.   People groaned over something on the cars and bids car over the pic oof the steering wheel and dash.  I just don't know what's wrong in that pic!  😑.  Educate the poor unknowing soul I am.

I think the issue was the three screws mounting the steering wheel to the quick disconnect should be two across at the top and one below, basically one screw near each spoke of the wheel.  In this case it seems the screw for example at the bottom is at the 7 o'clock position when it should be at 6.  All that of course when the front wheels are pointing straight and the steering wheel is also level.  Basically, now if you were going to fix that, the steering wheel is useless unless you covered up the three incorrect holes somehow.  It shows a lack of attention to details......

It is registered, street legal

and the smog test is shown in the picture gallery.  I am an instructor with PCA and got the personalized plate HPDE.

Wondering what type of smog test did they do at test facility in Phoenix?  Just the old fashioned "sniffer" on the exhast pipe?  It looks like it has a catalytic converter, correct?  Thanks
