slngsht
At least not the Caterham that I have, since it's also a single seater. http://locostusa.com/forums/download/file.php?id=36484 I got a SMOKING deal on this - impossible to ignore. And the build is really good. I do have to finish the rear drive, plumbing, etc..., but relatively minor work.
scannon
Looks like a good excuse to me. What is it?
Croc
OMG!!! :ack: you're a hairdresser that drives a Miata! :puke: oh....was I supposed to look at the tubular thingy next to it? .... Ok....I have to ask. What is it? Tell us the gory details.
slngsht
It's a custom built exo trike one of the guys over at locostusa.com almost finished but abandoned for other projects.

coffee break
Long ago and not very far away I was working on a trike. Gave it up a lot earlier than that, but I still have the bike I was going to use. A Suzuki GT 750 triple AKA Water Buffalo.
yellowss7
Neat, but most tracks and autox events frown on 3 wheeled vehicle. A bike engine Caterham is much more practical. :jester: Tom
xcarguy
OMG!!! :ack: you're a hairdresser that drives a Miata! :puke: Dang, slngsht, a trike-driving administrator . . . and I never knew about the Miata-hairdresser thing! :jester: Judging from the the build thread, no corners cut on that one.

Croc
That is a very interesting build thread that just occupied a chunk of my time. :bigear: So is it currently road registered? Will I get to see you in it in July if you head north now that you actually have wheels that operate?
slngsht
LOL, they don't operate. Main thing is the rear axle / chain drive. Starting work on that. After that, it's just a matter of plumbing and wiring.
S1Steve
Mazda, I really don't care how many wheels it has, as long as you let me take it for a ride. Good luck with getting it up and running as it looks like alot of fun....

I never thought I'd see the words 'Caterham' and 'more practical' in the same sentence. :jester:
NVP66S
. . . and I never knew about the Miata-hairdresser thing! :jester: Here's the official answer to that frequent question/statement in the FAQs at Miata.net: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=357614 Full disclosure: I bought a drivable Miata as my donor car. During the 3 days I drove it, I really came to like it. So I rationalized away buying a second one as a design template that I could follow when I had build questions. (yeah, right) Except the donor is a '97 and my daily driver is a '99 and there are many, many differences. I was driving an SLK Kompressor and traded that for the '99 Miata. I felt like I needed to take care of the Benz but I enjoy thrashing the Mazda. Now of course the question is whether I will sell the Miata when the Westie gets legal?:willy_nilly:

Croc
Should we have a "Let's Help Slngsht Build His Cars" Day? I for one am like Steve, I have never driven a 3 wheel "thing" before. I have a strong suspicion that it would be a hoot. Will there be any registration problems in Virginia (or are you in Mary Land?) or does it come under motorbikes and slide past all the problems? slngsht
I've never driven one either. not sure it'll be fast, but it'll be fun to sort out. Not sure what I'll run into for registration yet. I know there IS a process for home constructed vehicles, and I know 3 wheelers are classified as motorcycles. or does it come under motorbikes and slide past all the problems? I see what you did there!
