toedrag Posted May 29, 2014 Share Posted May 29, 2014 Flyin Miata has two LS3 oil pans made by Moroso (aluminum and steel) for their V8 conversions. They have sumps with trap doors to prevent oil starvation and are a little shallower than the stock ones to give a little more ground clearance. I suspect they would work well on the Stalker V8s without the cost of dry sumping the system as well as save some space. However, the Lightning course runs CW and only has two left-handers, but we'll see. I went back and reviewed my other videos from the March 22 event at MSR Cresson (1.7ccw course). It's worth mentioning that on one of the videos, the low oil pressure light illuminated briefly in a 'left-hand' turn. :ack: That was a first. I've seen those shots before, but I didn't realize it was this car. That's good news if the Mineharts found a way to put the shifter in the proper place when using T-56 Magnum. There is a very thin silicon lubricated Teflon washer between the moving joint at the shifter stub. I still had to cut the dash and tilt the bottom bit out slightly to clear the shifter stub. I couldn't come up with the $48k or so to have him build it (or the $48k or so to buy all the parts and tools to build it myself.) I'm stuck with my $20k used Mustang. Still fun sounding (and not bad skidpad at .9) but nowhere in the ballpark for experience. Congratulations. I will share that I did not come even close to fitting in this car. I'd have to add two inches of height on that roofline (or more if I'm thinking about a helmet) and I suspect that would totally change the appearance for the worse.
