Microcar Extravaganza

Toyotus 7

Recommended Posts

A couple of folks on here were interested in seeing some photos of the microcars at the meet a couple of weeks ago in Tacoma. Lots of very interesting cars and interesting owners! The first little red thing with the targa style top is a Toyota 800 Sports - very cool. The others include the other photos include a couple of Berkeleys (which I love), a pair of messerschmidts (sp?), a Hienkel and an old Mazda. I have many more photos of stuff like Subarus, a Goggomobile, a NSU/Fiat, Isettas, a King Midget, and the list goes on and on….

I was lucky enough to visit here

http://www.microcarmuseum.com/

before the auction. Try the Virtual Tour.

Microcars were good for the time frame they existed in. Now days, macroamericans have no chance fitting in microcars. Besides, who wants to be mashed into a grill of a Escalade?

Thanks for posting the photos. I can't believe I live near Seattle and have never heard of this event until your earlier post. It's now on my calendar for next summer.

Thanks,

John

Well, John, it is a somewhat 'small' event. :jester:

I guess that would be me, as I am driving my WF as a commuter car. My rationalization? Hey, it replaces the motorcycle I used to drive.

I don't often visit this site anymore, but the timing is good for this one. On Wednesday of next week, August 13, will be the 5th annual The Little Car Show in Pacific Grove, CA (kind of a suburb of Monterey). This is one of the more low-key events in the area during "Car Week", and I thoroughly enjoyed it the two times I have previously attended.

I'm not sure that scenario is possible. As you can see in this photo of my car in front of a full size pickup, very little of it reaches as high as the grill :jester:

Sean, I attended that show in Pacific Grove 2 years ago. Had a great time and strongly recommend it to anyone attending Monterey car week.

Yeap, you're safe, right up till it morphs into the Westfield-eating-SUV-from-hell?

I need a higher res version of that photo for my garage wall :)

John,

Wish I could, but with my limited photo shopping skills (using a very archaic Paint program), this is the best it would do.

Two of my cars... I can mash myself... (no shot of the Fiat next to the Escalade, it wet itself when I was staging the shot)

The wee tiny Berkeley, with it's 4 foot, 2 inch width and 5 foot 10 inch wheelbase, makes a seven look positively behemoth.

I had a 59 Berkeley. I hade top bows for it, as they were missing when I got it, and bought a top and side curtains from Warshawsky.

It was small, I drove it into the corner of my 1 car garage, got out, lifted the rear end over to the wall, then drove in my 60 Corvair coupe. I also had my motorcycle and my lawnmower in that garage.

Great fun car, 3 cyl 500 cc 2 cycle Excelsior motorcycle engine, I ran Castrol so it smalled like a racer, Start engine in reverse to back up

Yes, it make my seven look huge....... I wish I still had it.

Anyone remember the Berzerkeley, Grassroots Motorsports' project Berkeley powered by a 140hp GSX-R engine?
