  1. Past hour
  2. Excellent. I assume the wheels have steel inserts with conical seats. Much-better design than original Brand Lotus wheels.
  3. Today
  4. No, they are JBW wheels and balance was easy for the tire shop.
  5. I think I recently referred to this as a "stub axle" because I just could not remember the word "spindle". Thanks for reminding me.
  6. Brand Lotus wheels? Folks often have balance issues with these wheels. I have found it is often a problem with the lug nuts. The outside diameter of the nut is often not concentric with the internal thread.
  7. Did you start at the back? Any of his luck rub off?
  8. new car and running in the fancy circles. @Croc you’re setting pretty high expectations for Oct in njmp.
  9. Zandvoort today. Using the same garage as Kimi Antonelli - Mercedes - from the recent Dutch F1 Grand Prix.
  10. I grabbed one of these, it's good with my "signature" seats from 2021 (I assume pretty standard leather seat). I'm going to remove the straps, they're not needed. It just fits between the two side bolsters, and just resting against the seat is placed correctly. Not too fat either and has some compression. Hoping to get a few hours on it soon.
  11. First time that my wife has been in the Seven this year- driving around try to find someplace open on Labor Day to get lunch. I just pulled out onto US-202 and the gas pedal dropped to the floor and engine dropped to idle. Throttle cable snapped off at the set screw where attaches to the pedal. Luckily, I keep a decent tool kit in the car and was able to get us back on the road in about 10-15 minutes. Wife was a good sport about it... and I was glad it didn't break when I was racing the rain home yesterday!
  12. I wasn’t brave enough to do a rebuild myself. And also didn’t want to have the car off the road while I sent the diff out. So I went the pricier route and just had another diff sent to Tracsport and he installed the lsd. You could just order the lsd and have it shipped to you. And either swap it yourself or find a trans shop do the work. in theory I can just swap mine out. We will see how that goes.
  13. Yesterday
  14. @CBuff, I wish I had planned ahead as you did. If I tear into it now, I'll miss the best driving of the year. I am going to monitor things, and if it doesn't get any worse, it will be my winter project. I was thinking about going to 3.64 gears as well. Planning on doing the rebuild myself, but we'll see. Time is hard to come by these days. Good news is I just picked up a Quaife ATB diff from @Scott_. Excited to turn this project into an upgrade. Wish my wife felt the same way
  15. I was weary of my diff. It started making some new noises and I was dreading the ultimate rebuild. Pro-actively I had Steve Perks order me a new diff from caterham and he dropped in a Tracsport LSD. I also specced a 3.64 vs the original 3.91. I spend most of my time cruising so the drop in revs should work. But time will tell. Hopefully swapping out the diffs over the winter. https://www.tracsport.com/lsds Email: tracsport@hotmail.co.uk
  16. All British show in Kansas City yesterday from the right Russ's brit built locost my Westfield 7 a real S2 "America" locost project w/Miata donor locost w/ GM v6
  17. New in box and now surplus to my needs. I paid 523UK plus shipping and tariffs bring it to right at $925US. Offering it at $800 shipped in the US. Thanks for looking, Scott
  18. I dug in a bit deeper this morning. Again, the U-joints look OK, and I’m not seeing any play in them. As I rock the driveshaft back and forth, I’m getting some backlash in the differential pinion gear, which sounds similar to what I’m hearing while driving. It also looks like the pinion shaft may be rocking side to side, but it’s hard to tell in such cramped quarters. Long story short, it’s looking like the differential is the problem. What’s the best source for a Ford Sierra 3.92:1 differential here in the U.S.? Would I be better off having mine rebuilt? I’ve also been reading about the Quaife ATB internals. Is that upgrade worth it?
  19. Aiming for "leaves" but I know it's hard to predict. I know it can be hard to navigate family stuff, that's what kept me home last year :/ Last time I mapped it out I was thinking to stay around Blowing Rock on day 1, but I think a lot of the BRP might still be closed between there and Asheville? I'm definitely game to run up the coast and catch you on the way.
  20. When are you thinking, mid-to-late October? I'd love to, though there are some family health issues that will keep me a maybe regardless of how clear my calendar may be right now.
  21. I have to admit, I get some sort of masochistic enjoyment out of chasing down these sorts of things. It very well could be the diff. The best I can tell, the noise is coming from the back of the tunnel, where it intersects the rear bulkhead.
  22. This is a frustrating thing to chase down - can take a while. Do you think it could be the diff? You don't say where it directionally is coming to you from.
  23. Sorry to have missed you. I did get to meet several other Seven owners over the course of the weekend, including USA7s member Geoff "cobra8214" earlier today.
  24. Last week
