Al, I do have an update on LOG 28 that I would like to add. The flyer was originally posted under National events, however, we have added directions from downtown Indy plus advising that you can have your Autocross and Track day Tech inspection done while enjoying the cookout. Mark will have a few race cars in the shop for your view pleasure plus a number of visitors from the racing community to visit with while enjoying the food and shop tour. Thanks, Jack http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1042268442_LOGcookoutp1.JPGhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/781447125_logCookoutFlyer _5backpage.JPG Hope everyone can make it to LOG 28...Se7ens replicas are welcome. Pre-registration ends today, 6/27/08

Mazda, Sorry, I did not see your post until today...workin' my butt off on LOG 28!!! I think the length of the auger is about 18". It is the same one that Speedway Motors has and was referenced in the previous post. It is fairly straight through with hardly any pressure drop. I would call the sound "raw". My guess is that when you are really pushing the loud button it will exceed 100db. Here is a copy of the test that John Meyers conducted at our Ambush in Helen, GA the week following 7-7-7. Hush power was rated pretty high. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1536901198_Mufflertest.jpg The test vehicles were all Stalkers with some being Supercharged 3800 and some 3.4 NA. I don't think you notice any power drop with the Auger style. Jack

Hey Robert, You got one heck of a deal..!!! Don't fret over it. I purchased a spare 3.4L motor 2 years ago and it is still sitting in the corner of my garage. It was also on Ebay and I got a terrific deal, so I bought it. Picked it up in Cincinnati, Ohio and managed to be able to visit some old friends in the process. One of these days I will be jumping for joy that I have it when it comes time to replace my 2.8L whether I break it or just want more HP. Can't have too many spare parts. Jack

Mazda, A lot of the Superstalker guys are using these. Still pretty loud in my opinion. We did DB test at the Stalker Ambush post 7-7-7. Several of us running glass packs were at a lower DB by several points than those running the Auger style silencer. Jack

Hey Paul, It looks great!!! Everyone wants to see more photos. Paul is my neighbor and he did an excellent job in building this car. A real head turner for sure!!!! Jack

Indy Region SCCA generally has a good Se7ens turn out for auto-x as well. This was the first points event of the 2008 season with two DM cars and three EM cars all regular Indy region participants. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/620079959_7sat16th.JPG

Avery, Congratulations!!! You can't go wrong with a Caterham! I know Steve is going to miss it...But, he will end up with another great ride soon. Jack

Dave, I remember the deer encounter. For some reason I thought you lived in Michigan or northern Ohio at the time. At any rate, it was pretty scary when I got the call from Phil W. (red Caterham) and said that you hit the deer. Phil has since sold the Caterham to Walt H. who lives in the Carolinas. I am not sure Rich and Lisa had theirs up and running in 2005. I think it was '06. You would remember it ....all black and very nice.
-
Dave, Thanks for your response, I was hoping you would. I could not remember for sure where you lived. I know you drove in and arrived after dark. The couple standing between your car and Cherik's (Rich and Lisa) live in Indy. Rich built a stunning black Caterham a couple of years after this gathering. The all Se7ens Gathering continued for two more years at Brett's place and continued to bring in more and more Se7ens. Brett still has the Eleven and will be showing it at LOG 28 here in Indy in August. He purchased the Eleven while he was still in high school. He purchased the red Caterham brand new when he was 25 back in the early 80's. In 2006 the Se7ens group joined in with the all Lotus group gathering hosted by Young K. with the same night before F1 format. The Club House for Indianapolis Lotus Lovers (CHILL) sprung from that of which I am a charter member. Hopefully we can meet again soon...Maybe even at LOG 28 here in Indy!!! Jack

In May of 2003 I was driving my pickup on a 4 lane street and met a Birken in the opposite lane. It was the first Se7en that I had seen in the Indianapolis area in nearly 15 years. I was about 5 miles from my house. Two months later John Viviani posted a message on the Stalker forum that there was going to be a Gathering of the Sevens on Saturday prior to the running of the 2003 USGP in Indy. I sent an email to the local contact for the event and it turned out to be the same Birken owner, Tony M., who lived about 2 miles from me. I had not seen his car again nor had he seen mine. After sending the email with my physical location in the Indy area, we got together a few days later. I had Dennis Brunton and Justin Sims come to Indy for the Gathering and a day at the track for the F1 Event. In the photo below is my Stalker before it was painted yellow, Dennis and Justin's red Stalker, an early Caterham owned by the host of the Gathering, Bret J., Tony M's Birken, Steve B's Locost, Cherik's Caterham and a car from Michigan (I think). The couple standing in the lower left hand corner of the photo is none other than our John and Erin Viviani. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1408209413_SevenSevens.jpg

Next option is to install a battery disconnect and forget it...That's what I did four years ago and it solved the problem. Jack

That is Justin in the very first Stalker Dennis ever built. It started out with a 2.8L S10 motor, then converted to a 3.4L Camero motor and now has a 3.8L normally aspirated Pontiac. That car has earned FTDs with every engine combination that Dennis and Justin have thrown at it. We call it the "Mule". Justin decided to bring it to Carlisle at the last minute because a potential customer wanted to see one in person. I think it is the first time Justin had ever run that course. Jack

Avery, PM me at jbanker@indy.rr.com I am aware of a Se7en that just came up for sale by word of mouth within the last few days. It has not been advertised and it might be what you are looking for. Jack

Kevin, Michelle and Loren; Congrats on a job well done!! I certainly remember Kevin and Michelle from the 7-7-7 event and have met and known Loren from R N G at Gateway. Kevin and Loren, your attention to detail in the construction of Mojito and past experience with One Lap has paid off in spades. Your efforts can not go un-noticed!!. Kevin and Michelle, your attention to mind, body and spirit proves that if we take care of what the Creator has given us you can endure. We all have thresholds of tolerable physical and mental abuse but you guys made it look easy and I know it was not. Heck, I would have been toast after the first day!! Again, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on a job well done. Hope to meet you guys in person sometime in the near future and Loren I am sure I will see you at R N G again this year. There is an article in the May 2008 issue of KIT CAR MAGAZINE regarding Morris Clements very nice and very fast Kirkham 427 Cobra. Here is the link to the article. I have had the opportunity to meet Morris and see his car run at the last three Run N Gun Events at Gateway Intl Speedway. No question it is awesome fast and loud. Don't get me wrong here...I love Cobras and if I had all the money in the world, I would probably own one. However, I would like to share an observation. On the Road Course Dennis Brunton in his SuperStalker was a tad over 1 second faster than this very Kirkham in the article driven by Morris at the 2007 R N G event. I believe Dennis' average speed in the Stalker was 87 MPH, or 127 ft/second. This means that Dennis pulled 127 feet or 10 car lengths EVERY LAP!!! After 3 laps we are looking at something like the length of a football field. I think in racing it is not necessarily who has the top speed is automatically the winner but who gets to the finish line first when you put it all together. SE7ENS RULE...!!!!! Jack

The mirrors are fitted with Multivex lenses. The stalks are furnished from Pegasus. I had the extended pedistals machined from aluminum. Previously I had motorcycle mirrors that were great looking but useless. When I ordered the side mirror stalks, I also order a center convex mirror from Pegasus. I modified the stalk height to fit under a standard wind screen. This is the best set up I have ever had and the rear vision is now panoramic. Jack

Hey Bob, Here is how one of our Stalker owners is doing it. He did not like towing through the north Georgia mountains...but it worked. Jack

I am 98% sure Bill purchase a used Stalker on the Friday before he listed his very nice Birkin on Ebay. The guy that sold the Stalker indicated that Bill also had a very nice Birkin and lived fairly close by Oakland, CA. The Birkin sellers name was Bill, had a nice yellow Birkin and lived in CA within close driving distance to Oakland. Too many coincidences. He had been looking at Stalkers for a long time. I do not think he was on this list but had talked to a lot of Stalker owners.

Mike, Southern Indiana from the Brookville Lake area down to Madison, IN is not bad either. Having lived in Cincinnati over 20 years ago and making runs out to Athens to see my son at OU, I know the areas you are taking about in southern Ohio. Jack
-
I may run out there, However, did not sign up for the event. If the weather is decent, I will drive the Stalker out to observe. I have several friends that are doing the event including a new SuperStalker owner from Indy. I don't think we met at 7-7-7 but looking forward to meeting you Monday. Jack
-
Hey Mike, Are you coming to Putnam Park on the 21st? Jack
-
Hey Bruce, Very nice Birkin. Glad you got it going after all you have been through. We are just now getting into the good driving season. Get out and enjoy!!! Jack

Simply shocking questions.. (Birkin owners especially)

Robert, Are your lower 'A' arms parallel with the ground or do they angle up to the pick up points on your frame? Jack -
Dan, Here are the Panasports on the car I mentioned earlier. Jack
