  1. 7evin, Why not make a removable grill section that is shaped to help airflow and to reduce air entering the engine compartment but can be removed for more air flow say when in transit or just out for the fun of it. It could be part of your front wing that you have run in the past and could make your car even more aero than it is. Also look at what Porsche did to the 914-6 and the later 914's to help with underbody air flow and engine cooling. They placed two little stiff rubber flaps on the bottom of the floor pan to create a slight turbulence that did two things one it helped to get the low pressure under the car to pull more air down from the engine access on top and to help plant the rear on the ground due to the low pressure area it cause at speed which also helps in the down force on the rear of the car. Just a thought you also might want to dimple the leading edges of the car like a golf ball as that has been proven to help let the car or object push through the air even easier. I think they actually outlawed it in Formula 1 due to that reason.
  2. Strange but also cool...I can see some different applications that could be used for.
  3. That was fast Oyagi. So what is in store for a replacement now that you are sevenless.
  4. Here is one link. http://www.spax.co.uk/ Hope this helps. Post some photos of your dads build when you can. :auto:
  5. That is a good one "LIGHTW8" with all the carbon fiber what is the weight of your 7.
  6. Just amazing. Stay safe and be vigilant as to what is happening around you and your neighbors homes. I can and do understand what it is like as I was in Camp John Hay Baguio Philippines when they had their big quake, not a lot of fun and not a lot of restful sleep.
  7. Now that is very COOL and I do agree a very important film now as a lot of people do not realize what those soldiers and sailors did for this country. Thanks for posting that.
  8. Yep the BMW leathers while hot dogging a Vespa......looks like the driver was not sure and was thinking of balling off.....
  9. Just a suggestion but if you can try sitting in a Birklin without the standard seat installed (on the floor pan) you might find that you can figure if the Tillet seat will fit for you if no one has the info you need. Another way to figure it out would be to measure the difference in thickness of the seats and that should tell you how much further back you would be sitting. You also have to remember that the sitting position in a 7 is different than most cars to start with as you tend to sit more upright than reclined. Hope this helps.
  10. Not today, but yesterday as I finially installed the skid pan on my 7 so I do not take out another oil pan like I did last Labor Day on the blat that one of the groups that I belong to do every year. Here are a couple of photos taken while up on the lift at my friends place.
  11. Hi Twobone, What make shocks and springs do you have on the front of your car? If they are Spax adjustable spring and shocks then all you will need to do is release the spring tension with a special wrench that fits the spring adjuster ring with the car lifted so the front suspension is in the air (unloads the spring and shock). You should then be able to remove the attaching bolts and nuts and remove the entire spring and shock form the front suspension to replace the bushings in the shocks if they are bad. You will also need a press to push out the old bushings and press in the new ones but this can be accomplished with a large clamp and some sockets if you do not have a press to use. If you are going to just put harder bushings in the shock ends you will find that their will not be a big difference in your ride. Replacing all of the suspension bushings with harder bushings will make your ride a lot rougher as more of the imperfections in the road surface will be transmitted to the frame and eventually to you. If your going to replace bushings you should also do the bushings in the upper and lower a-arms at the same time and the rear suspension bushings to make the ride uniform and not put undue stresses on other components. Hope this helps and this is just my belief and as we know everyone has different beliefs on what to do and when.
  12. Good reason and an honest one. You should not have a hard time selling it as it looks good. By the Lotus as it is a far better car than the Atom and a lot safer all around but that is just my belief.
  13. Dogs are thinking were did my ride go. I know it is here somewhere because my human mom is sitting in the seat and the wheels are still here but were am I to sit..... Wife has that 7 smile already......wait till she drives it for real......you might not get to drive it very much from the look of that smile.
  14. Kind of neat. Has the look of an Atom and the price and has a definite look that would be a WTF is that by most car nuts. I like the way they accomplished their windshield wipers....manual....close to the same setup I have for my 7.
  15. Oyagi, Why are you selling your 7. Did you not find it fun on your trackday or was it not fast enough?
  16. First I would like to say I feel for you and your 7 and that you are very lucky their was not more damage. Maybe you should contact Caterham USA and see if they can provide a new cowl and hood for you. You could then have the local auto body shop repaint them to match your car with paint supplied to you by Caterham USA. The person that backed into you insurance should cover the cost I would suspect.
  17. Ruadhd2, This is what I have in my 7 and it works very well and they are very loud. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/universal-air-horn-hella-toyota-honda-nissan-ford-85105-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35a8410d9dQQitemZ230456102301QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  18. Hi Andrew, Here is a link to the radiator that I have in my car now. Larger than the stock Civic radiator plus it came with the fan unit. The stock Civic radiator would also let the temp creap up when auto-xing or if the outside temp was above 90deg's. This radiator has a thicker core and has solved the creaping temp problem that I had had in the past. Hope this helps. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CXRacing-Radiator-CIVIC-DEL-SOL-B18-3-Row-Shroud-Fan-/190425521936?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c563edf10
  19. Jon, Hope you can fix it with out a lot of trouble.
  20. Good read looking forward to seeing photos. May I suggest that you install an airhorn in place of the regular horn, it is what I have done with my 7 and it has saved me more than once with people that just are not looking for a small vehicle or are as my wife says "brain-dead" but still moving.
  21. Jon, Have you figured out what is wrong with your 7?
  22. Hi Gert, On my car I have two support brackets on the exhaust. One in front of the muffler and one after the muffler. Both are one inch by eight inch flat bar welded to the muffler and they go under the car to the frame and I then have a quarter inch diameter bolt that goes through the floor pan to hold the brackets to the car. I cut a chunk of rubber from an old car tire tread to sandwich between the floor and the bracket to reduce vibration and to give the exhaust a little movement to reduce the stress that no movement would create. So far in five years of driving my car I have only had to replace / repair the exhaust manifold and pipe twice and one time was due to me grinding the exhaust tip into the ground while auto-x's because of the way I had the tip angled and way to close to the ground and the amount of lean that I had in the setup. Made a neat spray of sparks when turning hard right and caused a crack in the header. Hope this helps. :auto::driving:
  23. From the video it sounded like you where going up a steep grade and had to stay in fourth gear to keep from lugging the engine down. What was the altitude that you were driving at? The smile at the very end says it all when driving a 7.
  24. Great photos and the trailer looks to be taller than the Stalker so people seeing it from behind must wonder what is pulling it down the road. I bet the truckers are getting a kick out of seeing you on the highway. You should put a sign on the trailer that says "Hot Shot Service by a 7" as that would make the truckers laugh and smile. :driving::auto:
