I would have to disagree with the rally master due to the LeMans rules of 1970. Donald Healey was told a new car / chassis had to be used in 1970 as they had raced the first SR at LeMans in 1968 and the in 1969 and the rules state that the same car / chassis cannot be used three years in a row so Donald Healy sold the SR that they were to run as a factory car to an individual who then change the motor (original motor use by Healey was owned by Coventry and was returned to them when Donald Healey sold the SR) and the tail section of the car for better aero and then attempted to competed in the 1970 LeMans race but not as a factory backed car to my limited knowledge....well what I have read about the car built by Healey for LeMans. As of 2008 the surviving car was in Australia I do believe. Edited by MHKflyer52 09/22/09 @ 1525hrs Calif. time Here is a link that even talks about the car and who has owned it. I got to woundering were it was after posting and did a search to fine that it is for sale now. http://www.classiccarsglobal.com/ad.asp?ad=001371#mainContent

Kevin is a smart man........

The engine in that aircraft (U2T) has a very efficient compressor section that lets it keep running at those altitudes. The engine is about half of the length of the fuselage and the rest is fuel and electronics.

Good one.....some of the smartest people I know are like that....always aware of what is going on and how it will effect them and others.

You can always just remove the heater and connect the hoses to each other so circulation continues as if through the heater box as it wasstill in place. Just a thought and a simple solution that would let you reinstall the heater box fairly easy with out a lot of fuss.

When Cost Is No Object - The Ultimate Cobra (Billet Ali Chassis and more)
MHKflyer52 replied to scannon's topic in Off Topic
I am at work but will post some photos this evening of one of these Cobra's that I took photos of this weekend at the auto-x that I ran in. They realy are a work of art. Here are some photos of the one at the auto-x this past weekend, he had to run in the same class I did but was slower. This car has been on the cover of one of the auto mags but I do not remember which one. It has a Roush 588R Engine and he had a heck of a time keeping the power to the ground. The finish on this car is just amazing to say the least....Photos of me are from the reflection that this car has. -
Just amasing that we have had that ability since what 1957 or their abouts.

Do you have a big red start button :)
MHKflyer52 replied to KiwiBirkin's topic in General Sevens Discussion
The start button in my car is CHROME and small not red. I also have a Master Electrical Kill Switch and a switch for Ignition. No key to speak of like the kind on a key-ring. -
All right Kevin way to go but you do know they do know who you are as you are world famous when it comes to speed in a 7 even if it is not a Caterham......:driving:...have fun.

newbie 7 fan - advice on purchasing
MHKflyer52 replied to leon68g1's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I am surprised also as I lived in Kedena Town in the Nakagami District for a couple of years (83-84) and at NAF Atsugi actually Yamato City for a year (85) in the Kanagana Prefecture and I do not recall ever seeing a Lotus 7 while I was there or traveling in the country. I did how ever know of a couple Europe’s and Esprits S1/S2’s in Yamato City and I am aware that there were a couple of 7’s imported into Japan but I did not think there were a lot of 7’s in Japan due to the tariffs and taxes that are imposed by the government on vehicles from outside Japan and a kit car is even harder to get registered in Japan than any other place I know of to the best of my knowledge but maybe things have changed a lot since I lived there back then. Thinking about it any car coming out of Japan that is not an off the shelf Japanese make would most likely be a good sound car as their inspection process is very tough and through to the point that it cost more to have an old car that a new car because of the inspections that must be complied with and anyone with the capital to maintain a specialty car such as a 7 most likely would care about the car and be a collector or very avid auto nut like most of us. -

Well I think I am going to sell my 7 Replica
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in Cars For Sale
Southwind25, Thanks for the kind words as for comparing it to child birth I have no IDEA about that as it was just plain fun to build and very educational for me and I hope for some others that watched it come to life. I really do not expect my 7 to sell very quickly so I should be around even after it dose sell and will be a so called lurker / participant as I have made a number of friends on this forum and I do have a special place in my head for any 7 type auto. -
Sounds like a nice 7 and seems to be a fair price for all that it has.
-
Skip, Put a 5 or 6HP Honda mower engine in it and I bet you would scare your self silly with it. Don't thick I would drive it on a street....would be different.

Now that is funny......I know I am not very PC.....thats just funny.....

newbie 7 fan - advice on purchasing
MHKflyer52 replied to leon68g1's topic in General Sevens Discussion
leom68g1, Why buy a 7 from Japan and not one that is already here in the USA if you’re in the USA. Their are a number of good 7's that are RHD that you could most likely go and inspect for yourself and not have to worry weather the dealer is just selling you a bill of goods or a car that might be questionable. Do you pan on racing this vehicle or driving it on the street as a car imported from Japan might have some issues with being able to register it here in the USA. Some states here in the USA are very hard to get a 7 registered in to start with so why compound the issues you are looking at. -
BANG!!!!!! and then the Attorney.

Well I think I am going to sell my 7 Replica
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in Cars For Sale
Well I still and have always enjoyed driving my 7 and even Auto-X it this weekend with the local Porsche Club and had a great time with it. Had a lot of folks looking at it and asking questions like “Why are you selling your car?” and asking me if I was nuts or what. My answer to that was and is "Yes I am Nuts to a certain point and the fact is that my wife said that if I want a Cayman something has to go and I am not getting rid of my 1970 914-6 that I have owned since new so the 7 is for sale." I did fairly well at the Auto-X for just going out to have fun, no sticky race tires, no hitting the rev limiter, just having fun. My fastest time on the course was 62.437 seconds (clean) with a track that averaged of 69.7 seconds (72 participant cars) FTD was 59.384 seconds (not me) and my slowest time was 79.734 seconds (lots of cones [5 from a spin]). The group that set the course figured that the fastest time would maybe be 55 to 56 seconds which no one achieved so it was a lot of fun. The corner workers did get a good work out as cones were going everywhere for a lot of the participants as they were for me. I feel I was very lucky on getting a clean run that one time...:driving:...:seeya:
