  1. Hi Mazda, Looks good but I though you live in the USA and not were they drive on the wrong side of the road (England, Japan, New Zealand, etc.)....snicker.....chuckle.....snicker.....from that video you posted......or is it just that you are trying to confuse us all or maybe you should drive Franklin 7 backwards to show us what your neighbor hood really looks like. I see your city put speed bumps in on most of those streets.....is that due to you practicing for NASCAR......turn left, accelerate, turn left, accelerate, turn left and then the Police car waiting at the end of your drive just down the street from your house..... The mount works well I think....what dose it look like when someone pulls up behind you at an intersection.
  2. Hi Jim, Never really check time just know that it seems that when ever I am out in my car just running around on the back roads it is usually 50 to sixty miles between stops unless something of interest strikes my curiosity or the group that I run with stops of some reason. I think the longest distance I have gone in one drive is 250 miles one way but again we stopped for fuel (food and beverages) and some folks did top up the fuel in their cars like me (4.5 gal. into a 6 gal. fuel tank--my average fuel mileage is only about 28 miles to a gallon) and also checked their cars for things coming loose as most of them are considered weekend toys or collector cars. On average I would have to say about an hour maybe a little more before for me besides I am not in a big hurry to get anywhere when I am driving my 7 as it is for fun and relaxation more than anything else. Shortest ride recently for me was 49.231 seconds over a 3/4's mile auto-x course with 22 corners (local Porsche Club). I had the forth fastest time of the day and most likely my best run ever in my 7 as I dropped almost a full second from my best time prior to that run. The FTD was 48.794 seconds by a Mazda Speed Miata, Second fastest time was by a Porsche GT3 who was having a hard time keeping all the power to the surface of the course with a 48.994 second run and the third fastest time was a Boxter S with a 49.154 second run. Out of 84 cars that participated the average best time overall was 54.541 seconds with the slowest time being 72.734 seconds.
  3. When I registered my 7 in Oregon (McMinville DMV) they said that I had to register it as a REPLICA or a RE-CONSTRUCTED vehicle. I chose Replica and said that it was a replica of a 1963 Lotus 7 and that is what the title said (1963 Lotus 7 Replica) when I recived it from the DMV. It also did not have any restrictions on when or were I could drive my car. It was even easier when I transferred the title and registration to California as the DMV here (Ventura CA.) said that they do not have a replica title so they made the title say 1963 Lotus 7 even though I kept telling them that it is a replica of that cars year. Sure made it nice as I do not have to wory about smoging or anything like that and my insurance company agreed that it has a declared value and because it is titled as a 1963 Lotus 7 by the state of California their are no restrictions on use or millage. Go talk to your DMV office and ask them for direction and they will usually help you or point you to the person that knows or is a gear head within the office and get you straight.
  4. Maybe just one more reason that we should cut all ties to countries like that even if they have oil or maybe they will render all of those pigs to make fuel from the lard.....I do not think so.....
  5. Hats great.....We should issue more of those as far as am concerned.....
  6. The photo posted is not correct in any way just to let you know. I know that it was not meant to be taken seriously but their are a lot of people that do not know that A/N1H1 (Swine Flue) is only transmitted via human to human and is a respiratory influenza. The below quote is from the CDC and World Health Organization. "The H1N1 virus -generated by a mutation of a virus common to birds (SARS), humans and pigs, is transmitted from human to human only -and through the respiratory system-. N1H1 remains a A type influenza. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) last report, the N1H1 virus is the combination between 1 human influenza virus strain, 1 bird flu strain and 2 different virus strains from pigs. Viruses mutate and combine inside a human host, that operates as a "lab flask". Infection is only possible from human to human through respiratory ways." Please be aware that good hygiene practices such as washing one hands and covering one mouth when sneezing or coughing and then washing ones hands is the best way to prevent most illness and the spread of those illnesses. It has been suggested that if you are sick, then take actions to not spread the germs such as staying home and not infecting others and practice good hygiene to help control the spread of the germs you may or may not have. Notice and Disclaimer: I am not a Doctor or anything associated with the health industry but I am informed and what I have stated in this post is not to be taken as a put down but to inform people who might not know.
  7. Yes that is acceleration but it had better as the base price of that car is some where north of $250,000.00 US dollars.... http://www.inventory.gpimports.com/detail-2008-lamborghini-gallardo-superleggera-2845730.html They still have a couple for sale if you have the spare change...(:>)
  8. So true so true but you forgot that one must work for happiness and only then can one really enjoy it. Glad to know that there are some like THINKERS still out there.
  9. Keep up the good work John...wish it was not 3000 miles one way to attend....sounds like you will have a good time and still keep cost in check.

  11. Just a thought but did this not happen to the Roman Empire (over extended, lavish lifestyles) and in more modern times the British Empire...just a though...will the United States ever be the same again at this rate of problems with the economy...I sure do not know and am not smart enough to even try to figure it out but I am worried and being very cautious with my financial transactions more than ever and hope everyone on this forum is doing the same.
  12. Wouldn't that be nice if it were an option for all of us. Now where is that fountain of YOUTH.....oh yea it's my 7.....

  14. The Solstice is a Saturn that is rebadged for Pontiac so it will still be around and Buick has very high sales in China which Pontiac dose not is one reason that I know of. As for the Hummer I would agree that it should be cut from their lineup as the H1 was never meant to be sold to the public and is not any more to my limited knowledge and the H2 is the same chassis as a Tahoe and 1/3 more expensive and besides we really do not need more SUV's on the road that never get used off road or for what they were designed for it the first place but they seem to be the two name brands that have a market that seem to be saleable and not effect Chevrolet in the long run. Just my belief and observations that all.
  15. Well today was a very nice day in Southern California, temp at 6am was a chilly 47 degrees with light fog in Ventura, CA. as I left the house to go to Super Car Sunday. The drive was very uneventful down the 101 towards LA except for the swarm of bugs that I drove through just south of Camarillo, CA., should have taken a photo of the smashed bug mess I had to clean off along side the freeway before proceeding to Super Car Sunday. I arrived at the parking lot were Super Car Sunday takes place at about 7am and found a nice spot on the outside edge of the parking lot which was starting to fill up very fast with all sorts of autos from a Morris Minor 1100 to Jay Leno's very sharp and immaculate Duisenberg to my 7. I started to walk around and look at the different cars and to see if their were any other 7 in the lot when I happened to come across Al's old flame and Morgan's new car. Have to say Morgan is keeping it looking very nice for having put over 6000 miles on it since he received it and he has legal license plates on it now from California. Sorry for the quality of the photos but I am not a photographer by any means and have a simple point and click camera. Well back to the rest of the morning at Super Car Sunday. While walking around after talking to Morgan I noticed that another 7 was parked next to mine and for the life of me I can not remember the owners name but know he's from Newbery Park and have meet him in the past at some other events I have attended. It is funny that we all have different cars and taste but we all seem to have or know each other due to cars and our adictiction to them even when we do not get to see many cars like our 7's. Anyway we all decided to go for a nice ride up Mulholland Drive (temp was now close to 80 degrees and clear blue skis) to the lookout and see what was happening up their and to watch the show that is their almost every weekend. For all of you Mulholland Drive climbs from the valley floor maybe 150ft above sea level to over 3000 ft then back down to the ocean in the distance of say five miles in a straight line but the road Mulholland Drive is close to 25 miles of two lane road that is smooth and full of 120 degree turns. Yes it is patrolled very heavily by the State Police and the Sheriff's department both by car, motorcycle and by Police helicopter / Lifeflight due to the number of crazies on motorcycles that think they are supper road racers but even so it is a fun and enjoyable drive in a 7 or any sports car. We did see one motorcycle rider being taken away by life flight and the wrecker loading the remains of the cycle. The rider did not look that bad as we passed the accident as he was being assisted by the state trooper but five minutes later while at the lookout we saw the lifeflight helo departing from the area of the crash. Oh well that is the way Molholand Drive is when you get crazy with any vehicle. This is were we all departed for different locations and I headed down the west side of Mulholland Drive to get on PCH 1 (Pacific Coast Highway 1) to head back to my home in Ventura, CA. which is about 50 miles of some of the nicest scenic coast highway in Southern California and a nice way to end a great drive for the day. Here is a link to some of the photos I took today if you want to see. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/SuperCarSunday#

Hi Mazda, First I have to say the model you posted is very good, is it a 3D model like SolidWorks. Second I can give you dim on the jag rear end as I have one in the shop to an XKE that is being restored at the moment. Here is a photo I just happened to take this morning for some unknown reason at the time but is now clear to me.
  17. Agreed....just swap the two lap belts on the drives side.
  18. Having lived in Newberg Or. for 15yrs I know that section of highway 18 just west of McMinville Or. and it is the only section of the highway that is four lanes wide on that highway and is know as a speed trap so I do not feel bad and they most likely blew thorugh Dayton Or. and did not even realize it........
  19. I see what you are saying but I also can see that everything on the left side is somewhat distorted most likely due to the camera lense. Look at the grill...on the right the retangles are smaller than the ones on the left also the bench on the left looks larger.
  20. That is just FLYING WAY TO CLOSE TO EARTH at those speeds for me with out wings. I wounder if they have an ejection seat built into it.
  21. Mazda you should have chirped the tires as you pulled out.....good COP and most likely a gear head.

The live axle in my car with drum brakes installed weighs 178lbs. I found that a good set of shocks with bounce and rebound adjustments are worth their price (one of the most expensive parts on my car). It took me a number of drives down the same bumpy section of road to get them dialed in so the ride was not a back and kidney killer but with the twist of a knob and a couple of clicks of the adjusters the car can become as stiff as a board if wanted or just the opposite. It is very evident when any of the adjusters have been moved and can be quite interesting when you do not know that someone has messed with them so I have mine marked so that I can check them especially after the car has sat somewhere where people are looking at it and being curious and I am not around. As a side note do to the lightness of our cars wheel balance is critical so you might want to have that checked also.
  23. That is good news Hank. What will you be doing.
  24. Big Smile.....
  25. Translation maybe.........The porn star is a guy....LOL.....just kidding but you never know about these Hollywood types and it’s all about money especially in today’s market.
