  1. Bourbon and se7ens anyone:)?
  2. I have no idea, but I can't wait though to hear the answer from other more knowledgeable folks. The Caterham is an automotive treasure but is so unrealistically priced compared to other cars that it has an unsustainable business model. IF I were going to spend $100K for a new high end Cat, I might just get a Lotus Evora 400S. Or a new 'vette-and a Prius for the wife:), etc.
  3. Or right after he passes us!!! With the aero and down force he might just go flat out though the bowl!
  4. Mite still be available from Ford Performance parts. I googled it and it lists there for $840. No idea if that is an out-of-date site, part, price, etc.
  5. The 'Vette engined Iso Grifo even looks like a '63 'Vette from the side. Who copied who:)? BTW Bob, does anyone have a better attendance record at these events than you???? As I have mentioned before, I look forward to your weekly photo spread.
  6. Lap times? I almost went to that event Steve, I would have had I known you'd be there! So how does it compare to the Caterham? More areo of course. I would hit 105-108 mph on Putnam's straight in my mighty X-flow. Add 10 mph, at least, in Zetec SVT powered Cat, what is your top speed there?
  7. I believe that it is impossible to take a bad picture with a se7en in the middle of it. Your pix, and your Cat, are exceptional, thx for posting.
  8. I bought my stock Birkin in VA where it was titled and licensed. So they aren't ultra-picky.
  9. Thx for info Bruce, I didn't know that.
  10. I am pretty sure that's from one of my several slides off one of Thunderbolt's turns. I also broke a wheel in the process (If not obvious, oilteq purchased my former Birkin and has brought it back to life).
  11. I may have mentioned this before but a few years back I was vacationing in a remote town in Sicily and walked by a race prep shop and took a look in and saw a Lotus 23 in pieces. I spoke no Italian and the mechanic spoke no English, except when I said "Lotus 23B", he repeated it, and we both laughed. Short but memorable conversation:).
  12. I think I paid $700 for a replacement windshield for my Caterham(:.
  13. When I bought my tragically flawed, but pristine, Birkin in '12 or so, I had much of it covered professionally. I think it cost $1.2K? I did the nose cone, the sides about 10" up (due to my somewhat notorious tendency to slide off racetracks sideways at speed) and maybe the cycle fenders in front and definitely the rear fenders. The paint takes a beating, especially if you track your car (or if you follow Wemtd around for very long:)).
  14. What a beaut! The sharp looking CF fenders have a tendancy to blanch whitish over time/sun/elements. Maybe someone here has a solution for that? Good luck w/registration.
  15. For a photo comparison of the various 7 iterations look in the for-sale section on this forum. Virtually everything has come up for sale at some point.
  16. Ditto. Under $19K for such a pretty car seems like a deal. Zetec power too. Maybe the hoodscoop was meant to help cool the engine? Otherwise, it's pretty pointless.
  17. Looking god Croc! And what a track! Maybe the widest, smoothest pavement I have seen. And big-time facility as well. Like Jim, I am hoping to add LOG 37 to my itinerary next year and get on the Barber track.
  18. Ditto, even with my size 8 &1/2 shoes.
  19. Word of caution tho, once inverted and wedged in upside down like that it is very hard to extract yourself. So, whatever you do, do not then set off the in-car fire extinguisher in the foot well, located maybe 6" from your nose and mouth. A tip if this happens, close your eyes and try not to breath. You will find the adrenaline surge will be sufficient to eject you out of your predicament. Sure wish I had a video of this (Not that it ever happened to me...).
  20. Pre-lit Westfields were basically Caterham clones (I mean that in a good way). Caterham took offense and sued, and Westfield changed the design considerably to differentiate their product (again in a good way, just a different way).
  21. Westfield sells a se7en kit that can accept a S2000 engine. Forum member Davemk1 has a lovely example. So it might work with the Honda engine you have?
  22. Craig's chassis has to go approx 2,300 miles, 1-way tho.
  23. The stock Caterham OP gauge will only tell you that you have oil pressure, not how much. It is mostly decorative, so I did what MichaelD suggested and purchased an aftermarket mechanical gauge that fit. The peace of mind in knowing what the oil pressure actually is has been great. Also the occasional low pressure on turns has told me my oil level was low, so I was able to add oil and avoid catastrophe. Chasing the sporadic no-start issue was my first great Caterham challenge, 10 years ago. Do what Skip suggests. The problem is, since it is intermittent, you can't reliably chase it down because it fixes itself while you are at it. After replacing my battery, starter, belts, solenoid, fuses, relays you name it, it turned out my problem was a loose ground wire. Since my Cat engine was pre-immobilizers, I was at least able to elimninate it from the cast of suspects.
  24. Seb: you can also take tire temps by heading to a deserted lot and doing donuts and then checking with a pyrometer. Bruce's concern is that after the straight stretch and maybe the cool down lap and tippy-toeing into the paddock and parking the temps will even out and won't tell you much
  25. Short term pedal solution: add a pillow to your seatback-it will shove you forward (Great looking car, BTW!). As Skip said, slowly filling the tank is the solution. And only put nozzle in part way (1-2"?). And you have to watch it as it will then spill out since you can't put the nozzle in far enough to trigger the automatic cut off. All the while you are fielding questions from the small crowd at the gas station gathered around your car. Only a flying saucer would generate more questions:).
