  1. Sesame Street actually has a Donald character: Donald Grump (really). He is an "apprentice" to Oscar the Grouch. He plays in the trash and makes fun of the poor. And he has rather startling orange hair. All in a parody from 10 years ago or so, but suddenly relevant again.
  2. Great story and great results! Those rear half-shafts are hen's teeth. When my RH shaft failed I ended up thinkng I'd need to buy another Caterham, just to get that part. After 6 months I finally found a replacement. And I eventually found all the needed parts to repair the one that failed, so I have the repaired one as a spare (just sayin).
  3. I think the most impressive stat in your entire post is that your wife pushed you a 1/4 mile in your car:). The other quarter mile speed of 134 mph isnt bad tho!

    Eddie Hill

"Hey, anyone seen Eddie, he was right next to me a second ago....:)".
  5. I think I read that the supercharger location blocks the steering column move to LHD, so the re-enginering effort to convert from RHD would be faily substantial.
  6. I will take the silver MGA:).
  7. So many threads:). Hey Gone Coastal, since we are in the wrong thread anyhow, good job on your epic trip home in your new Cat CSR 260. Most guys ship their purchases home but you went for it. And took your son, who will either never get in it again, or is already planning his own purchase:).
  8. Craig: Sign me up for the 4 Panasport wheeles/Kuhmo tires. Let me know how you want payment. No shipping needed, I will pick up at your place next month. Mike
  9. Wow, the Lotus Elven is stunning. Makes me want to rob a bank.... I'd buy the green Birkin in Maine, if I were in the market for a se7en.

    Folis Jones

As I have said elswhere, Folis was a great ambassador for se7ens in general, and Zetec powered Birkins in particular.
  11. I would advise first timers to not try to do 105 mph around the "bowl". Watch Croc's speed in the video of him in his maroon Cat: 70-85 mph is more like it. I think that's about the best I manage, tho with no speedo in my car, not really sure. Croc really has it figured out but it will take newbies a while to get to his comfort level on that turn. So, maybe 105mph on exit/approach to straight is realistic for average cars/drivers? In slow, out fast is the standard refrain. I have followed plenty of "trains" thru that corner with the guy up front maybe hitting 55 mph. I suspect 60 mph for first timers and then add speed as you go thru in later laps?. I am typically flat out a ways before the apex and all the way to thru to turn one. My goal this year is to start a bit slower so as to go flat out for a bit longer. Croc-thots?

Makes me look forward to my 70th, later this year. I will be semi-retired then, which I define as having more time to do track days:). Thanks for reminding us all that age is truly just a number.
  13. Lots of 200K mile Miatas out there. Of all the things that might break on this Westfield, I suspect the engine will be the last thing to go.
  14. Nice. Can't tell abt yours, but my cover has a strap midway that fastens and tightens underneath and holds the cover in place.
  15. I think one of the car magazines tested it and some other 7's back in '07 or '08 and prounced this one just right-great combo of handling and power. If more power is needed, ask Flyin Miata. They have lots of turbo-charge options for Miata engines. They even turbo-charged their own identical Miata powered Westfield, as I recall. Probably lots of info on their website. They mite have a supercharger that would be easier to fit as well...???
  16. I remember drooling over this car at the 7/7/7 event . It looks as good in person as it does in the above photos.
  17. Cassandra, let us know your location and maybe someone here will be nearby and able to inspect/drive the car and offer an opinion on its value? Many of us have long-suffering wives who have put up with our car crazyness. Therefore many of us would be happy to help another owner's spouse.
  18. I used Toyo Ri's 205/50-15's all around. Not sure if they were optimal.
  19. In my driveway in Ohio. It is a KY car and KY doesn't mandate a front plate. So you can put anything you want up front-or nothing.
  20. Strongly suggest that any potential buyer of the afore-mentioned, caged Birkin, built by Texas Motor Works, do a search on this forum for "Issues with Texas" before plunking down any hard earned cash....
  21. Why not bring them all and we'll let the se7ns group there vote:)? I'd hate to have my impeccable driving reputation sullied by a lack of matching wheels!
  22. I think Burton Power in UK stocks that part. Worth looking into anyhow, assuming you strike out elsewhere.
  23. Michael:You would think with 4 complete sets of Caterham, wheels, I could manage to field 4 that matched! But for complex reasons having to do with $, for the time being I am using my mismatched 15" on the back and 13" on the front. Every year I say I will spend the $ to get the tires that work on my 3 sets of 13", or buy 2 15" wheels that match the front, and every year I have catastrophic mechanical issues that use up all my $$$ (this last 6 months costs included an engine rebuild and new fueling system). So, maybe next year??? In the meantime, here is my car sporting fancy wheels, that were kindly lent to me at NJMP by Karl. Maybe I can persuade Tom (Yellow SS), who now owns Karl's car, to take pity on me and at least loan me his extra wheels for pixtures at NJMP this year:)!
  24. My Caterham met one of its cousins yesterday. I had a chance to drive it briefly. The RHD was irrelevant. The car is so narrow that it just wasn't a problem. I also started to get the hang of shifting with my left hand. Since I am left handed maybe it was a bit easier? But, I'd need a bunch of more miles before I was "programed" to shift without thinking. I loved the SV size. And the graphics show much better in person than in the photos. Every Caterham is the start of an informal parade (or a circus) and this one is really an attention getter: so many smiles, everywhere. It drove nicely, and was well preserved, really a gem (IMHO).
  25. Well wishes to Stuart, Colleen and your wonderful children. As I am sure you know, this thread could be a lot worse. Hopefully after he reboots, life will return to semi-normal. I am sure that having him home will be a hugely positive move, for everyone. Keep the news coming. Mike M.
