  1. Just saw this, wow, such bad news! When people admit to being in "a lot of pain", it is never good. And like everyone, I am sure Shane had tons of other uses for the days now being spent laid up, processing all that happened and the current implications as well as potential future implications. Nonetheless, the glass still looks pretty close to full, given how much worse it might have been. Hang in their Shane, cut yourself some slack, and focus on getting better, we are all rooting for you! Mike Mooney
  2. Pretty cool! I am amazed it all fit so well. Hopefully he will post some photos of his build.
  3. Croc: You are clearly a victim of guilt by association:).
  4. Michael: Who is the mfg of those tires?
  5. Thx Bruce, I will add 3 lbs to the remaining unused Goodyears:).
  6. Steve: I have to second Croc here. Putting aside that its simply the wrong season for Cancun, she will (incorrectly) feel old because she is turning 40. But bring her to NJMP and, after a glimpse of all us, she will feel young again:)! She will be positively youthful in comparison. Much better to gauge herself against our slumping, tired, gray, old bodies than be comparing herself to 20 year old hotties on the beaches of Cancun. AND when she sees how much fun we are still having, it will also give her hope for the future!!! So, to be honest, I think you owe it to her to bring her to our event....
  7. Love the color, plz post photos of this beautiful se7en when the build is complete (The workshop isn't bad either!).
  8. Come to the NJMP se7ens gathering in early July to see a nice collection of se7en variants.
  9. I will add the Erector set, Lionel trains (I still have the engine I got for X-mas in 1949), Daisy Queen BB gun, Schwinn bike, Flexible Flyer sled, Monopoly and "chemistry sets".
  10. I definitely prefer the look of the clams, having owned se7ens with both set ups. Like Tom, the dreaded front end lift never materialized. Perhaps because the Kent engine had trouble powering it much over 100mph?
  11. OF: I'd sit in one first. It is amazing how the car specs tell just 1/2 the story. My Caterhams are virtual twins of my Birkin, yet the leg room, arm room, visibility of the gauges, proximity of the gear shift lever, height of the windshield, placement of the mirrors, usability of the seat belts, comfort of the seats, seat back angle, etc., etc., was all different. As I recall the Ultralite places gauges in the center, and mounts the steering wheel low. Or maybe it just depends on the builder. My only point is to try it on for size first, rather than buying via internet. Definitely worth the price of an airplane ticket, IMHO. All that said, this one looks pretty wonderful and at a very reasonable price.
  12. Love it!!!!!
  13. Somehow ended up at work 2 hours early, and this was a great way to start the day:). Sure would love to have seen those beads!
  14. Same problem here when I went from the Sierra 5sp (in which 5th is overdrive), to the 6 sp Caterham, in which 6th is 1:1, like 4th on the Sierra's transmission. Lottsa "whoops" out there on the track.
  15. I received an e-mail notice around 9:00 pm yesterday, containing an interesting post on this thread by Sabbott abt building an original Lotus Elite body onto a Seven chassis. Great idea! Wonder what happened to his post tho? I also got an e-mail notice of a post by Xcar late last nite on the politics, etc., forum that is not there.
  16. Yes, now that I have offered support here, I too am being spammed, via the PM function here, by KoprbGype. Guess he feels personal about this:). Am turning off the PM for now.
  17. Mazda-Thx for doing this thankless task.

Programmable implants, what will they think of next?
  19. I am still in. Cost of travel/room/board are all taken care of so this isn't that much of a stretch. OTOH, it is pretty boring to run on an empty track:ideally I am chasing or being chased. But 4-5 other cars should do the trick.
  20. Skip is right about the value of the BDR engine. They seem to command $15+K all by themselves. Someone here w/a X-flow could buy this, swap out the engines and sell the less powerful S4 for $19K?
  21. If you do a search for words like ''transport" you will see some other threads on this topic, which seems to pop up every year or so. A big variable in cost is how soon you want it. If you are in no hurry you can save 50% or more. I am going to hazard a cost of $3-4K coast to coast as a wild guess? I think it cost me $2K for enclosed shipping of my current Cat, Seattle to Cincy, which is close to 2.5K miles. I could have paid 3x that.
  22. Lottsa nearby trees and sturdy lamp poles to hit also. Hopefully, the final version has been de-fanged a bit. The video was during '13 construction.
  23. Yes, put me down for Monday also. If I am only doing one track trip a year, I want to maximize it.
  24. Tom: Is the timing belt in the SVT Focus engine the same as a regular Zetec engine of the same year? Thx, Mike
  25. I would add on the plus side of the sequential trans that it makes an inadvertent down shift from 5th to 2nd (rather that 4th) much less likely. (Not that I speak from experience or anything:)). And when you are sporting a $30K motor (like YellowSS), that could be a very expensive mistake.
