  1. Bruce, I use the half doors/screens on my Caterham if I am not using the full doors. The half doors help by taking the blast of air from the rear fenders and direct it away from your face. They also help keep the small stones and sand from coming into the cockpit.

    LOG 29

Where can I get information on the tech inspection for the Monday track day? Will the standard roll bar pass inspection? Do we need to have a Snell Automotive helmet or will the Snell 2005 motorcycle helmet be accepted?
  3. I believe all you will need to do is take the title and proof of insurance to the county license center and they should be able to transfer title and give you plates on the spot. If you do need to trailer the car for inspection contact me directly and I can help you out with a trailer. drew...
  4. Checking the VIN and having the paperwork for the major components was to establish the information required for registration in Minnesota. It is also to insure that cars and motorcycles are not being rebuilt from stolen parts. If the car has been registered in another state you should be able transfer that registration with proof of sale and proof of insurance. Minnesota no longer has emission testing so that obstacle has also been removed.
  5. MNLotus - a track day at the new BIR "short track" would allow for a great opportunity to correct those problems! Welcome.
  6. basically fabricated an aluminum cake pan with 1/2" tapered sides and replaced the flat section from the 1" square tube in front of the seats to the rear upright wall of the cockpit. three sides of the pan attach to the holes that formerly held the flat floor in place. The front of the pan attaches to the rear vertical surface of the brace in front of the seat.
  7. about 2.5" with no one in the car - caterham S3 with SVT motor - I did have to machine down the motor mounts a quarter inch to get the variable cam timing solenoid to clear the hood during construction. I have also lowered my floors 70mm - which hangs ME right down there with the oil pan!
  8. I find gas mileage in the se7en to be inversly proportional to the amount of fun you are having driving it!
  9. I am in agreement - nice job on the calender Martin. Thanks for the efforts. I am however partial to November.
  10. Two of my favorites: The first at speed on the "longest straight away" in North America at BIR. Taken by my wife. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/141907804_PICT0358.JPG The second taken in the garage - I call it "The Need for Speed" http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1443404343_PICT0962_2.JPG
  11. Bob - I heat a ~950 sq ft garage (3 exterior walls) with a 45000 Modine unit here in wonderful Minnesota (-16 without windchill this morning). Recovery to 45 degrees after opening a double garage door can't be much more than 5 minutes. I can time it if you would like.
  12. Sounds like there might be a niche/niche market for a lightweight pneumatic lift system that would lift a seat 8" off the floor to aid in egress. Kind of a powered 7 Barcalounger!
  13. 04 Mini Cooper S - 120 mile round trip drive to work through the western and northern suburbs of Minneapolis - averages 30.5 MPG Lots of fun to drive. Not bad in the winter - snow tires go on this week.
  14. Count me in for a track day at Hallet - from what I remember from the SCCA crew days it was a great track.
  15. WHERE DO I FIND THESE??????????
  16. As I was told this past weekend: "We're never too old to enjoy a happy childhood"
  17. One of my favorites - taken by my wife at Brainerd International Raceway during a BIR Performance track day. This photo is exiting turn 10 which leads onto the "longest straightaway in north america". http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1713152247_PICT0327_2.jpg
  18. check out my avatar - I am partial to PPG color cool blue!
  19. "Diana Kennedy needs a seven, and she needs to do more articles. She is an excellent writer". I will second that sentiment!! Great newsletter.
  20. but "tits" is such a friendly sounding word!
  21. Two suggestions: Se7enly Gathering or Se7enesk After a days blat 3099
  22. Based on past experience with autocrossing and SCCA showroom stock racing the car would be covered to and from the track but any damage on-track is definitely out of your pocket
  23. Have any of our LSiSers participated in a track day at Road America? It has been a dream of mine to drive this track since the early seventies but I have not found a group / club etc. that offers track days there. BTW: 2950 miles after 150 this weekend
  24. I heard mention of an alternator going out at the track - I have had one go out at each of the two track days I have done. Have others experienced this with the SVT Zetec????? I've been told it is likely battery related and replaced the battery from the stock garden tractor battery to an Odyesey PC680, which works well for everyday but have not had it back for a track day.
  25. It is rare that someone recognizes a Caterham let alone a LSiS but yesterday while at work an early 20's something associate notices my screen saver and asks if that's a real Caterham S7. Before I answer him I ask how he knows what a Caterham is, he answers "It's the lightest, best handling car in "Test Drive" so he always chooses it. Obviously, I need to give this young man a ride.
