  1. My windsheild uprights and exhaust heat sheild were clear anodized aluminum originally. I took them to a local anodizing shop and had them chemically stripped (back to bare aluminum). He returned them to me so that I could prep the surface - basically heavy duty scotch brite to approximately a 400 grit draw polish. They then black anodized the parts for me. They have held up well over time - the catalytic convertor will cause the black anodize to lighten a small amount, almost a reddish hue to the black. These shops generally work on a lot charge basis - you should be able to get this done for $75-100.
  2. I installed a 12v socket on top of the transmission hump in front of the shift lever for the same purpose. I ran a two lead wire (Battery-Tender type) directly to the battery, this can then power the GPS or its a simple connection for the battery tender when stored. If you remove the cover from inside the car it is a straight shot forward to run the wire to the battery.
  3. Jackal - thanks, my wife and I have put a great deal of time into the planning and construction. We wanted a working garage that could have projects on-going and still have a place to relax. The theme from the start was to have an old garage feel to it. All of the old weathered wood started out new and was antiqued with a process my wife came up with. Even the wood floor on the mezzanine was "detailed" to look like a 50 year old hardware store floor. It took the two of us about 3 years to get it to this state and much like the Caterham the garage is always a work in progress. MoPho - while yes it is a man-cave (we call it the garaj mahal) it is only possible because my wife enjoys working there too (generally a lot harder than I do - she's an incredible detailer) I do put the toilet seat down - I figure it is a very small price to pay!!!! drew...
  4. the car color is "Cool Blue" by PPG - IMHO it looks great against carbon fiber. The garage is a 30X40 in a garage condominium complex called the Automotorplex. I like to think the garage is "drew-worthy"
  5. MNlotus, Are the clear wind deflectors still available? PM me please. drew...

http://www.customdynamics.com I attached a set of Custom Dynamics miro-lights to the roll bar and drilled an 1/8" hole to run the wires through the passenger side of the roll bar. I was then able to tie it into the brake light positive.
  7. Tom - I have been using the HANS device for track days in the Caterham for the last year and a half. I have the three inch harness and it works very well. Our mounting points for the shoulder straps should be the same although I use the lowered floors. Bottom line I won't do track days without it - once in the car and strapped in the only time you'll notice its there is when you try to turn your head to back-up. But that's what mirrors are for! I would recommend going with the sliding tethers - I've tried with and without and prefer the sliders. drew...
  8. If your willing to give up the pre-wired "defroster glass" a good quality auto glass replacement business can cut and install a new windshield for less than $150. I delivered the cracked glass with the frame and a local shop replaced it with standard windshield glass for $130.

consider a pnuematic scissor jack - scissor on each side of the seat with a pnuematic cylinder running parallel to the driveshaft to actuate from one side
  10. If legroom between the seat and steering wheel is an issue or the length of the upper torso leaves you looking at the top of the windsheild - consider going with the lowered floor.

  12. consider pulling the plugs (compression relief) then turning the motor over until you get oil pressure built up.
  13. Mazda - We Minnesotan's consider those temps a warming trend :cooldude:
  14. I'm partial to photo #5!
  15. Steve - I run the Spa CF center mount with convex glass. My only complaint is that with my lowered floors the stalk is too tall. The mirror is great - I just need to lower it 2-3 inches. You should have a photo from the end of the day at Barber (Log 29) drew...
  16. Maybe not to the same degree as was experienced at LOG30 but LOG29 had much the same feel regarding the new Se7ens vs. the "classic 7's". I do not foresee attending another LOG event - the most enjoyable experiences at LOG29 were the Barber Track Day, breakfast and blat to 29 Palms (USA7s) and TOD - all events really separate from the LOG proceedings. We would definently be interested in a USA7s event, (still kicking myself for missing 7/7/7!).
  17. Met covers 4 cars, including Caterham, home, separate garage plus umbrella - no mileage restrictions. (Probably helped that the underwriter who reviewed the policy prior to it being accepted new what a Caterham was)
  18. Dan - sorry, didn't see your post until now. It was rivets or screws. Looks like it turned out well.
  19. Martin, Add 1/2 teaspoon of 30W oil into each cylinder before handcranking to protect the rings and cylinder walls.
  20. How does MVP Tracktime handle the broomstick rule on a se7en with an air deflector? I am considering the Road America weekend but would need to understand how this rule is inforced.
  21. Dan- Stop by at Cars & Cafe on May 1st and I will give you the correct snaps for the center of your cf "windsheild. -drew...
  22. PC625 under the intake stars the SVT motor with no problems - going on two years.
  23. ANOTHER???? 80-100 horsepower? Some might say there is a point of diminishing returns but I don't think there will be many in this group:jester:
  24. Mick - my wife snapped this photo at Barber last summer. Was this your last ride in a se7en?
