"Love the RHD! No burning legs on the exhaust,..." Man up! I love my RWD even with the exhaust on the right side. As I can testify (wife too), you will only burn your leg ONCE! You never forget again.

Love that red dash. Great job!

Don't talk like that around pony car vintage racers though. They all think they need (can handle?) 150 horses more than Parnelli Jones or Mark Donahue had back in the day.

But is that not what dragster style hood scoops are for? If you can cover a big blower on a Chevy...

Well, about time. I had noticed that Croc had been holding back with the pithy remarks for a while.

Good think you removed the "shield". Makes your car look like one of Jay Leno's Aero or Tank powered monsters. You would be a hit with the kids that put a 5 inch chrome tip on their Hondas. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15591&stc=1

Andy 69, Welcome to autocross with street tires. I have an old (86-89?) Birkin and have never had a problem not being able to rotate it. The understeer (205/50/15 x 4) is due to modern tires not working with light weight. As already stated, a hard lift or brake should help. Alignment / corner weights ditto. Without being a serious (huge slicks) autocrosser, Mine is almost neutral, rotates easily and is a blast, just not very fast. I have not splurged on AVON ZZS 15", and continue to hear good things about R888R Toyos. Don't know their wear rating. Someone here does... May try them. How old are the tires? If you don't know, they are probably too old. Rear fenders don't like cones. Below is a photo of mu cone catcher, just on the off side, I don't hit my side. It is removable. I am only disappointed that it has not sliced a cone off, leaving the base in the square.

"Took Mrs69 for a spin and she burned her leg on the exhaust getting Reassure the Mrs. that people only burn the leg ONCE. Won't do that again. Mind your rear fenders: they may not survive a cone strike. I can witness that one (twice), then got a cone catcher made for the off side rear fender. Fortunately, a cheap body man will repair the crack (stresses at the top) and paint for only $200 - 250.

Would you trade your occasional Seven problems for troubleshooting a Stanley Steamer? Maybe not. Interesting photo of the plumbing. Let it cool? Know which valve to shut to avoid a lobster effect? I don't even see the odd towel around. I wonder if California counts that as a near zero pollution vehicle?

Andy69, Congratulations and welcome to the virtual asylum. Do try to get your kid to go. A Seven is just his size. At stops, I get every kid I can into the driver's seat and they love it. Don't fret about the RHD. It's not a problem. More authentic looking too. Funny when a passenger tries to get it and discovers they are on the wrong side.

Croc quote: "I was thinking overnight (don't look shocked!)" Somehow I am not shocked that you think more clearly asleep than awake. That explains a lot. Cheers.

23b replica. One for the folks that love to build: https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2019/05/08/hemmings-find-of-the-day-1999-xanthos-23/?refer=news

The turn signals seem like a good idea, but it's one more electrical to keep working.

Great job. A nice, useful mod.

I notice that the Slingshots all end up customized or painted special. The new Pantera? Before they were actually sold, I was a bit excited at the idea - $20k for brand new! Once I saw one, I was very disappointed that it does not have anything my Birkin misses, one less wheel, etc.and weighs 500 pounds more. Just too heavy. Frame looks like NASCAR roll cage and the Fiberglass is really thick. Great concept (take that, regulators).

Not much to do with a Seven, other than the inspiration for the Elise, with a couple photos. Essential viewing for Elise fans. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2019/04/21/a-bit-more-of-a-dynamic-car-how-lotus-created-the-elise/?refer=news

Croc, Thanks for clearing that up. I guess we should stop making fun of the way you talk.

Croc, or other informed person, Explain why a double anti-submarine belt is better than one. If you have two, they are so close at the contact point that it may as well be one? Depending on "which side you carry on", I don't see any benefit. With a 5 pt., you won't submarine and the rest of the harness is held in place? More important to pull everything tight. I have see many that do not. When I rallied, after a multi-day event I would have bruises on my shoulders. I liked that.

Ah yes. The front engine juniors are so under appreciated. Seems everyone wants a lot of power. (Don't get me started) The juniors are beautiful, like a 3/4 Formula One from the fifties. Sounds like you had good fun.

Seems I remember a post about a new project a couple weeks ago. Someone with a handle similar to Alligator denied it and insisted there was nothing new in the works. NOW there is something new. Hardly seems fair, with such a collection already. Giving anything up?

Lucky, See if your state has a paper tag for temporary use. For example, in Texas, I got a 30 day temp tag for $25 (actually many times). Beats a rush job on a trailer, and takes the pressure off the INSPECTION/registration process. Used the frame number, insurance, and no inspection required. Most states also have a "trip tag" for unregistered vehicles, but you would fudge a bit, since you're not going anywhere one way, but it may give you something to laminate and hang on the car going to inspection, etc.

Project? Yes, we loves Project. Tell, Master Croc.

At last, the cone catcher photo.

If one is only going to hit cones (not tire walls, etc), you can use a cone catcher. After a couple repairs, I decided to let the cones suffer. (Darn, nevwer had a problem attaching photos before)
