I have had good luck with craigslist. I bought a 2.2L engine out of Cali with ecu and harness for 1700.00 with 7k miles. Trans can be found for 800.00 . There are many eng/trans set ups on ebay for 3500.00 range. I will let you know when I find another deal. Brian has a few good transmissions for 800.00

Any low mileage engine I prefer under 30k miles for under 2k is a good deal.

I have been eyeing the Haulmark low hauler for a few years but never can seem to scrape the funds together. Keep us updated with towing mileage in comparison to the others you have had.

Is there anyone on the board that lives in Daytona Beach Fl.? I am looking at buying an engine on ebay but they wont ship. I need someone local that can pick it up and put it on a pallet. I will get a shipping company to pick it up. I will be willing to compensate you for your effort and time.

Read your XL/TZ story that was some project. Most people would have thrown up their hands long before you did. Congrats on sticking with it and getting the results you were after.

Sounds like an excellent trip. I can sympathise with you on the cold temps in the mountains. If you ever think you might do some more adventure runs in the cold I would highly recommend buying a heated motorcycle jacket. If you get cold just turn up the thermostat. Happy motoring in the Birkin. Hopefully you can come to the national event in Branson next year.

I am not so sure it is 1350 worth of parts but he certainly has alot of profit in there. I would never buy one but build one could be a different story.

Since Kevin and I have pulled some serious seat time in the Ultralite 750-1000 mile days I have a few suggestions. We found the seats really needed lumbar region support. We used about 3' medium denisty foam glued to the seat this way the cover still can get be removed and washed. We got some 2" foam from Aircraft spruce that is used for pilots on long trips. We made these into seat cushions but we found that they do tend to be a little on the soft side when its really hot out. They are a little firm when cold but warm up and do well after you sit on them for a few min. overall they cushions work really well. When we get to the track we usually remove them so we can sit a little lower in the car. Kevin also found a Gel seat pad from Homedics that worked pretty well and it was only about 1" thick. I once bought some seats from FLoFit that had a adjustable bladder for lumbar support that had a pump buld. It worked pretty well and lets you adjust the lumbar to your liking.

That is a good looking Locost. You did a good job on the construction from what I see. The price is very fair in my opinion.

Looks like that guy is a Rally driver or has alot of Rally exp. In my opinion Rally drivers are the best drivers on the planet. That is an awsome video. Andrew subbies are fun and can be made fast for sure. Just be prepared to drop alot of $$$$ to get them really fast. Oh and triple or quadruple your tire budget.

I-phone has so many cool apps. one I heard of the other day is, a song comes on the radio that you like and want to find the artist you just hit a button the phone listens to the song then searches the data base and finds the match. Then you can upload it to the MP3. The standard lap timer is pretty cool but I hope the GPS timer is accurate because the Iphone is on my short list.

Mondo use the Ultralite windscreens. They really work well. I have a pattern and some Mar Resistant 1/8 plexiglass. You might have to call Brian and see if he has any brackets left.
