  1. The guys at GMT Racing in Newtown Ct are more into vintage race prep and support, but when a friend had a cracked weld in an early 90's Caterham chassis, they were able to do a beautiful job repairing it. Been to their shop several times and there's always lots of interesting stuff to be seen, including a nice selection of Lotus Seven vintage race cars.
  2. Your friend has a nice looking Bugeye, my first car was a '61 that I bought for $275 so I have a soft spot for those. Thanks for sharing your photos Bob.
  3. Thanks Vovchandr! I would have done the stripe too but I have an all yellow Caterham nose at home and want to be able to swap out the nose cone for a different look. If I had the stripe I'd have to swap out the bonnet and scuttle too. Was thinking of getting another spare nose cone painted BRG with an orange band to replicate the BRM colors from the sixties. Would look like this:
  4. Thanks Mike! The build is supposed to start in June with delivery in the middle/end of August. Couldn't go crazy so the only options are what I originally listed.
  5. Thanks Kenny, I've been VERY interested following your build. I'm expecting delivery around the middle/late August. The only options I went for were the 310 engine package, lowered floors, leather seats, and tonneau cover. Still recovering from my divorce so couldn't go too crazy! After spending almost 4-5 years of my spare time fixing/modifying my Birkin, this build should actually be a lot quicker. I've been reading the build manual but I'm sure I'll have questions so thanks. Would love to see your car someday!
  6. And another customer here: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?12280-My-New-Caterham-310S
  7. I've been out of the Seven scene after having to sell my Birkin several years back, but I'm excited to be getting back in the game. Placed an order for a 2019 Caterham 310S, in BRG w/white nose band, lowered floors, leather seats, and a tonneau cover. Was interested in the BRG Caterham roller that was on Ebay a while back, but ended up speaking with Jon, Ross, and Josh at Rocky Mountain Caterham and decided to order a new kit and build it myself. Didn't want to miss out on that part of the experience! Exciting times ahead!!
  8. That Locost project looks to be a heck of a deal. Too bad it's not closer, I'm sure my son and his Miata friends would be interested in making a AutoX/track car out of something like that.
  9. Thanks, I'll have to try that out. You're car looks great!
  10. Not sure if this has been posted before, but Caterham has a cool configurator that you can waste a lot of your spare time playing with. https://www.caterhamcars.com/en/configurator?pagemode=web&configuration=%2B270%2BKBT%2BNDR%2BNTR%2BNTK%2BCLB%2BBPTPGBS%2BIC7PP7I%2BA01%2BRBCPGBS%2BSZ3%2BFST%2BSPC%2BNSD%2BNFW%2BNSO%2BGS5%2BSRD%2BNAB%2BBST%2BMIN%2BSML%2BNCP%2BINTPINC%2BDSHPDSS%2BCST%2BLRSPLLS%2BISB%2BMOMPMOL%2BHTR%2BSSF%2BITTPITV%2BNAP%2BNIR%2BONC%2BOFW%2BORW%2BAFCPSLP%2BCPCPSLP%2BSSS%2BHHL%2BLPO%2BINPPOAW%2BESE%2BMBF%2BSRB%2BWST%2BNWD%2BHDOPITV%2BNAU%2BNRM%2BNHO%2BNBG%2BBOOPITV&width=1920&height=1080 Not sure if it's possible, but it'd be nice to "draw" up a car and save the image, but I haven't been successful yet. Any ideas? I know I've seen it done on other forums...
  11. That's beautiful, thanks for sharing!
  12. Looking good Kenny, fun times to come!
  13. Glad to help Mike, just keeping you on your toes!
  14. Just to add to what Mike said: Quantum Mechanics is actually located in CT not too far from my house. I bought the T9 kit for my '64 MGB from John. I also had good luck with BGH in the UK when I put a "2.8 Sporting Close" gearkit in my old Birkin with a T9. Nicest transmission I've ever used. Here: http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/bgh_home.html
  15. Some nice looking cars there, thanks for sharing!
  16. Congrats Kenny, glad it was a defective relay and didn't involve a miswired or defective harness. You've made great progress, keep it up!
  17. Kenny - I found an assy guide for a Ford Sigma that has a wiring diagram at the back. Not sure if it's the same as yours but it might be of help in case Caterham hasn't gotten you the chassis diagram yet. Check it out here: https://www.sevener.fr/articles_redac/Assembly_Guide_Sigma.pdf From this wiring diagram, it looks like the four wires at the starter relay are White/Red, Brown, Brown/Red, and Black/Red. There's also this one but I didn't see a wiring diagram: https://www.sevener.fr/articles_redac/Caterham-Assembly-Guide_Edition-1.0_Screen.pdf Good luck, I'm going to be doing something similar 6 months from now!
  18. Looking good Kenny!
  19. Sorry, I just saw this. The closest tracks to me would be Lime Rock Park and Thompson in CT. Both of these are small road courses a little over 1.5 miles long IIRC. If I get the 270, or more probably the 310, it'll be more street oriented. I do have a RHD rolling chassis made by Vintage Racing Services in Stratford that I'm hoping to setup as a track car, possibly as a vintage race car. Still trying to decide what's the best way to go. Thanks for your input!
  20. I agree, that's the best looking new model I've seen. Congrats Eddie!
  21. Wow, you're making great progress! Very interested in your build because I'm contemplating a new 270S, 310S, or 360S in the very near future. Good luck!
  22. Good stuff Ron, thanks.
  23. Stewart, Mike, and Mike. Thanks for the really in-depth replies....enjoyed the videos too! I saw the 2014 BRG Caterham roller on Ebay a while back and have been doing some investigating since it was setup for the 1.6 Sigma. I did talk to Jon N. and Ross R. about that car. Not too concerned about top speed but if it's close to a 5 sec 0-60 time that would be sufficient for me. Trying to get my garage in order and it will probably mean selling my '64 MGB and an old BMW motorcycle. I'm looking to get a Seven that I can drive on the road and possibly on the track as well, and hopefully have it for this year. I do have another Seven RHD roller that's set up for the track that will take some work before it's driveable. Unfortunately I recently moved to a new house that requires some work/upgrades and it's taking away from time spent working on the Seven. I will post some photos and info about the RHD track-build when I get a chance. I'll be looking for opinions on that one too. Thanks again guys!
  24. Does anyone have experience driving the 1.6 Sigma powered Caterham 270S. It only has 135hp, but on the Caterham website they have it listed as 0-60 in 5 sec with a 122 mph top speed. https://www.caterhamcars.com/en/models/the-iconic-range/seven-270 That seems pretty quick for 135hp but I've heard it's an all-aluminum engine so maybe the weight is lighter than some of the other options. Probably wouldn't be a great track car, but it seems like it has the potential to be a good all-rounder. Opinions anyone?
  25. Good luck Kenny, looking forward to the build photos!
