1. Very nice prints! I've seen the Seven prints for sale on ebay.uk in the past.
2. I know there are better photos of the TOTD group shot but this is the only one I have. I can't remember the total number of Sevens at the event but I think it was in the 70's. Quite a memorable event for those that were there!
3. Nice looking car Jim, congrats!
4. Kitcat - I'm a little bit bigger at 5'10" 170 lbs and fit fine. My son is 6'0" and 190-200 lbs and fits ok but he is built bigger than me and is a little more cramped in the upper body. He doesn't have any problem driving it though! I have the seat all the way back and the pedal assy adjusted to the most rearward position. I'm pretty sure there were several Birkin owners that were in the 6'2" - 6'3" range. I did a quick search and found a good post by Bernie Long on how he fits in a Birkin. According to the post he's 6'4" and about 230 lbs: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/birkinowners/message/12362
5. Hank - Thanks for the link, those are nice!
6. Here's one persons version of a modified sump: http://www.dwjenkins.plus.com/short-sump.htm Don't forget to shorten the pickup tube as well.
7. Nice photos, thanks for sharing Skip!
8. The original design might have been French but I'm pretty sure the Caterham DeDion tubes were made by Arch so at least it was made in the UK. Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with a live axle and drum brakes in a Seven but I would probably replace the 4-speed with a 5-speed if it were mine. Nice looking car either way!
9. The Scholarship suspension was live axle. Lots of info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caterham_Academy#Scholarship_years_-_1995-1999
10. A '96 model Caterham could have been either a live axle or DeDion and I can't tell which it has by the photos. I think you could still get a live axle car up to 2002 or 2003 when it was phased out.
11. That was the SVT model, correct? That's amazing!
12. You could also try Redline Components: http://www.redlinecomponents.co.uk/
13. Very nice Drew!
14. Steve, I never heard from anybody on the Birkinowners list but I'll continue to keep my eye out for one. Good luck!
15. Jason - It was my pleasure to finally meet you and your family, and to help you with your car. I'm glad it was a simple fix. Your car looks even better than when it was sitting in my garage! To anyone interested in this car Jason has spent a lot of time and money to get this car to where it is today. Are you sure you want to sell it now???
16. Glad he was ok!!
17. Steve - Congrats to Betsy! Not sure which year/model you bought but a friend has one and it's quick. I think 0-60 in less than 5 seconds with a twin turbo 6-cyl. Comfy too and it doesn't mess up your hair with the top down....well, at least compared to a Seven! In case you haven't noticed the price on that yellow CSR is looking pretty good.....
18. Jeff - Sorry to see you selling your car, but good luck with the sale.
19. Welcome sequential7. The photo of your car in the other thread looks somewhat familiar. It wouldn't have matching exhausts on both sides would it?
20. Looks like a nice start. No affiliation, etc: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Locost-7-kit-Lotus-Seven-replica-father-son-project-South-Florida-/300731887165?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4605046e3d
21. Stephen - I can't help you with the IRS set-up but I think most of Birkins are using appr 1/2" more ride height in the rear compared to the front. With my narrow track front end and AVO shocks we set the front ride height by measuring the distance between shock eyes and setting it at 294mm. I then set the rear ride height so it was 1/2" higher than the front. I could probably lower it all around but I like being able to drive on some of our crappy roads and not bottom out the sump. I think the measurement on my car at the point you're requesting is a little over 6" unladen.
22. It came out beautiful Jason, good luck with the sale!
23. How about this to tow it with: http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20143/lot/257/
24. I checked out jlumba's car back when Croc owned it and if my memory isn't completely gone I thought it had the stock SVT motor in it that's why I mentioned the Ford return-less system. No problem, it's all good! As far as your lean condition at high rpm, if you can't fix it by increasing the injector "on" time and your fuel pressure is ok, you might have to go to bigger injectors. Typically you don't want to use injectors that have to be "on" more than 80% of the time (80% duty cycle) at maximum fuel demand. There are formulas that you can use to determine appr what size injector you need for a particular application. On my Emerald ECU you can see the injector duty cycle displayed on the live adjustments screen as you're driving. I'm hoping on your Pectel you have the same info available to you. Can you hook up a laptop and monitor what's going on with it running? If not I'd get an appointment with a knowledgeable dyno operator to fix that lean condition before it causes bigger problems. :ack: After seeing Sean's post it sounds like you could have a fuel pressure problem...
