  1. Caterham did sue Birkin in the South African courts and lost their case. That's the reason the Birkin is able to look so similar to a Series 3. There's a good write-up in Dennis Ortenburger's "Lotus Seven & The Independents" or you can read about it here: http://www.saflii.org/za/cases/ZASCA/1998/44.html
  2. Kiwi - If I'm not mistaken it should be this one here: http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=4452 BTW - Nice looking car!
  3. John - Nice job on the trans tunnel cover!
  4. I saw these for sale on the Good-Win Racing site. They are a good fit for Birkin owners with a 4x100 bolt pattern and a 30mm offset. I think the centerbore would have to be machined to fit the Birkin hubs but I think Dave K had that done on the wheels for his ex-Birkin and it was reasonable ($10 per wheel if I remember correctly). Here's the link to the ad: http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-030023.html And a thread with Dave's old car (different color wheels): http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2702 Might be a good update for the "Silverstone" car...
  5. The same car was for sale last year. Personally, I think the best thing he could do is swap out the wheels if he wants to move it: http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3801
  6. Interesting car. Reminds me of a Dellow with modified bodywork.
  7. Back on Ebay again: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-Lotus-1998-Caterham-7_W0QQitemZ250568726055QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3a570f5627
  8. That has to be one of the best bargains in $$$/mph that I've seen yet! Let us know how you make out Mazda!
  9. Thanks Skip, what a great dog!
  10. This is for sale by the gentleman who bought my 2002 Birkin roller, and he was a pleasure to do business with. The car has a $17,500 Buy-It-Now price which looks to be a good deal to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-Birkin-S3-Lotus-Super-Seven_W0QQitemZ280457211634QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item414c8d6ef2
  11. Finally found his site: http://www.electric7.com/ And the construction: http://www.electric7.com/construction.html
  12. No affiliation, etc: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lotus-seven-replica-kit-with-yellow-bodywork_W0QQitemZ200429889152QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item2eaa8d6680#v4-36
  13. I don't know what to think about this one. Some of it seems to work and I think it would look better without the wacky paint job. When I first saw it I thought it could have been a futuristic update of a Lotus MKVI!
  14. Sorry Bob, never used them on anything other than the Birkin. I know some people have used them at the track in heavier vehicles, and the general consensus is once they get hot they tend to get a little loose. Maybe this year I'll be able to do a trackday to see for myself.
  15. If you can use the 195/60-14 (I'm sure some of the Caterham's had 14" wheels), the price would be even better at $184 shipped.
  16. I'm running these on my Birkin and I think it's a good all-around tire. With the rebate, the price for (4) 205/50-15 shipped would be $244. The rebate is good till 4/30/10. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/falken/product/submitProductSize.do?pc=18501&typ=Passenger%2FPerformance&tmn=Azenis+RT-615
  17. Looks like fun! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-JAGUAR-HWM-1956-JAGUAR-HWM-IN-CALIFORNIA-FABULOUS-CAR_W0QQitemZ200426417557QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item2eaa586d95
  18. That's the plan!!
  19. Thanks, but it's too late. Someone already has the keys!
  20. What a great video! Thanks for sharing Skip!
  21. There was also a Birkin that was converted to electric power a while back. Not sure how it turned out because his site seems to be inactive. I think his name was Carl...
  22. If you have a little time, check out this thread: http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?showtopic=63980 I wonder how many Mini's you could fit in this one?
  23. I'm the VERY proud papa of two granddaughters ages one and almost two, but yesterday our oldest daughter Jen delivered our first grandson Angelo - nicknamed 'AJ'! Mom, Dad, and AJ are all doing fine and should be home tomorrow. AJ weighed in at 7lbs - 7oz....do you think that's a good sign???
