  1. Don't sell yourself short and give yourself too little credit. Myself and I'm sure plenty others look forward to updates to this thread on the regular. Whether we already have one and are just curious about others for sale or somebody is a potential buyer as using your thread as the ultimate "7 for sale" reference guide that it is. My join date might be recent but I've been a lurker of this thread and forum for years.
  2. I agree. The car would have done much better with both seats in and probably one single color. I was surprised to see reserve over $30k as it didn't seem like the owner was hard out for money and he just wanted to let go of the car to make room in the collection. Thats far too much money to put into it and not drive it, and yet keep it. I paid considerably less for my Zetec and it came with extra goodies and its an SLR. To each his own though. I also wouldn't own 150 cars. My 13in problem got resolved with some 888r's that I managed to source. Still debating on ordering another set and holding on to it so I don't run into another sourcing problem 5 years down the road. Not the ideal tire but it does in a pinch. I still have way less than 1000 miles under my belt with the car I got earlier this year. It came with original tires to begin with from 2001, wasn't going to push those very hard.
  3. Makes me wonder what the reserve was or how close it got to it. I would say that 40K is very close to the price ceiling that car would see.
  4. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14832&stc=1 I also have the small bend somewhere that I had to cut but that should be an easy match. I think these might be the pictures that match by googling them online http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14833&stc=1 http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14834&stc=1
  5. I did that as well. If anybody needs Zetec part #'s I can help with that.
  6. I would like to point out that I recently realized that my tail lights are "backwards". I don't believe they've ever been replaced or taken apart (messing with a lost power for one now) Surprised nobody has ever pointed that out yet.
  7. I was hoping to make your list smaller but my Locost had 2 buyers fall through so far. :willy_nilly:
  8. Jim, have you had a chance to dyno yours yet? I know you have done a few mods but overall our engines are probably from the same breed and should be very similar. Mine has always been claimed through its history to be "200hp" motor but I'd like to get how relatively true that is. I think I also have a headgasket issue going on. VCT was eliminated, also have the ITB's and whatever the work that the dealer did as part of the "SLR" package. Old email correspondence mentioned cam work.
  9. As far as running hot this is the post I've been referencing. Not sure of it's validity http://www.zetecinside.com/xr2/zetectune.shtml?fbclid=IwAR0CEllGTWp4pxdvzcjat0vQKc_r61oGy7nyIgxNXD28sxrKeUekNhRFwfQ "The Zetec needs to run oil temperatures of above 100°C which is why it only has a 3.8litre sump capacity. If the oil temperature falls below this engine wear increases rapidly"
  10. Edit: I realized I might have had a long week and completely mixed up coolant/oil temps. At this time I do not know what my oil temp is but the reference is, Zetec likes to run hot.
  11. My Zetec came with one on the radiator. I can take a look and see what I can gather on it.
  12. I read advice somewhere in the 7 community and stuck with it while troubleshooting all my fluid leaks (when I started I had coolant/oil/windshield washer/fuel and transmission leaks). With me having an Accusump system, remote filter and an oil cooler it was a LOT of lines to try to nail the leaks from. The advice was to take paper towels and zip tie pieces around connection points. 90% of the time it has worked every time. Now I'm down to leaking from the bell housing and I think the washer bottle loses fluid under hard right turns and spits it on the windshield. Regardless give that a try.
  13. Yeah, you are a ways away.Never been to Palmer but it's been on my radar. Maybe, just maybe. I'm ok with meeting halfway as well for some reason or another. Been meaning to go to Boston for some time (haven't been in 15 years) but when I do, I doubt I'll take the 7
  14. Cool! Good luck. Subscribing
  15. Where are you located? You sure those are 4.5in lights? 2000 came with 7in and later years came with 5.75in I believe. You don't happen to have the mounts as well?
  16. I'd be quite open to idea of CSR's if they weren't all SV based =/
  17. Congrats! How for from Albany are you? You might be the closest member to me. I also still have my NA Miatas. They feel like a luxury car after getting out of 7. S60R feels like a tank (and yet another luxury step up from Miata)
  18. Mildly interesting. Mine also made it from San Diego to NE earlier this year (NY) San Diego 7's reunited across the country. Better yet, we both used Intercity Transport. Might have even been the same driver!
  19. My SLR not only came with carpet, but it even has floor mats :willy_nilly:. From what I hear full OEM top is bulky, heavy and a PITA, so my plan is to have a rain cover and a half hood from softbits to get me around with inclement weather. Should do the job.
  20. After a decade + of riding bikes and just recently getting a car of my dreams (Cat) my advice for you decision is to decide whether you want a fun car or a 4 wheel motorcycle. And I mean that with the negatives as much as a positive. It sits next to my bikes (I have 7 total) and for the first time in my life I find myself asking when I'm going to find time to ride them as when the time and weather agree for the bikes they also agree for the 7 and I find myself for now to just be taking the Caterham. Until I get a roof I find myself being even more weather averse with the 7 as the bikes don't melt in the parking lot if I take it to work and it rains, but I really don't want to be drying carpets and have other issues with the car being soaked.
  21. Another member just registered his Atom in FL which is something I couldn't even dream of in NY. I got lucky with the fact that it was already titled as "Cater" Caterham in NC earlier in it's life and NY DMV didn't give me any issues. As a matter a fact the lady behind the counter looked up a few other owners in the state and said that there are at least 4 others within 100 miles or so.

  23. Jim, I just checked my build sheet, appears to be build in the same place! You're right center caps in the link are wrong and original are MIA and I can't find a replacement everywhere. I talked it over with a machinist friend of mine and he doesn't see that it will be a problem to make a few blanks and put center cap stickers on them. I'm going to have a hard time describing to people the new theory if it being a Chinese replica I bought on Aliexpress... A few pictures from this past weekend cars and caffeine http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14610&stc=1 http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14611&stc=1 http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14612&stc=1
  24. I like that description. I think I'm going to give it a try next time. I don't think I'm going to have to wait too long for the opportunity. I remember seeing that car. I also remember thinking to myself how similar it is. I believe they came from the same location. Mine was also assembled in VA. I believe we have sister motors too, I have a yellow top Zetec as well. I was having a hard time trying to find out where it came from, I believe its a Cougar motor. They are both also unusual because they have their VIN plaque on the vertical wall instead of the horizontal panel like most do. The center caps can still be ordered. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/badges/48-centre-cap-badge-silver.html I do not have the cool SLR dash plaque however
  25. Jim, I agree which is why it caught my eye. From what I gathered everything was done by original owner who owned for only 1 year. Then it had the life of light SCCA racing and then mostly nothing. Last owner collected some parts and did misc things, which is why I now have a spare Duratec motor and a supercharger.. I still have to order the center caps etc from caterhamparts.uk, making a big shopping cart to save on shipping. From what I gather on pistonheads, spare carrier should have been on SLR's due to their nature of being SLR... I'm glad I have the heater though (and red carpets, even red floor mats!). Spare carrier was chopped off by the previous owners which is why I plugged the holes. Any pictures of yours? Tom, I've always had slight desire to go to NJMP with my bikes but with NYST being around the corner that desire died (amazing local track with elevation changes etc). NJMP might be boring in my view for bikes but I'm certain it will be a great experience for our cars. You're absolutely on the money with all 7's being unique. Speaking of tires, 13's were certainly a PITA to find as replacement. Got to the point where I started looking at hub adapters to fit any of my Miata 4x100 15's to make that work. Safety glasses are always on. Ear plugs are overrated. Never wore them on the bike and not particularly bothered by the wind now. My better half however commented on how dirty her ears get in a low car without a helmet! Endless questions were expected. This certainly is on par or more popular with strangers than my Honda Grom. I've decided to give up on proper pronunciation of the car when talking to strangers and go with the American path. I still have to iron out the story but it typically comes down to me explaining that it's an old British roadster. Mostly I get kudos and thumbs up. Not a whole lot actually converse on it.
