Interesting Slide Show of Vintage Ford Dealerships
powderbrake replied to scannon's topic in Off Topic
I'm not a "Ford" guy, but I admire the company for keeping the script FORD in the oval as it's logo. It maintains the continuity back to Henry Ford, and reinforces the brand at each viewing. The logo is the same on the new dealerships. -
The Passing of One of America's Most Decorated Veterans

We owe so much to the military, that it difficult to imagine what it would be like without their great sacrifices. -
My daughter is in Gitmo, visiting her husband (he works there, and is not behind bars), and she said they could feel it there.

It's interesting that the corporations and the individuals who try to build electric vehicles are at the mercy of the battery technology. Gasoline is a wonderful way to store a lot of energy in a small, lightweight package. The latest, LiPo is sort of a hand grenade in disguise. The problems with exploding cell phones, and the battery's ultra thin separators give them extreme susceptibility to rough handling. The model airplane guys use them, but they put them in a ceramic jar when charging, because if anything screws up, they burst into flame. The active surface area of a LiPo battery is huge compared to it's size, and when something bad happens, enormous currents are generated. I believe we have a very long way to go before the battery powered car is practical. The replacement cost and disposal problems are not resolved, as well as the fact if everyone plugs in at night, our power grid can't handle it. Of course those are development problems which will eventually be solved, given enough time and money. It has to be a profit driven endeavour, not just the Political Correctness effort that it is currently. Companies loose money on electric cars unless they are priced in the Tesla range.

More Engineer stuff: YOU MIGHT BE AN ENGINEER IF... The only jokes you receive are through e-mail At Christmas, it goes without saying that you will be the one to find the burnt-out bulb in the string Buying flowers for your girlfriend or spending the money to upgrade your RAM is a moral dilemma Everyone else on the Alaskan cruise is on deck peering at the scenery, and you are still on a personal tour of the engine room In college you thought Spring Break was a metal fatigue failure The salespeople at Circuit City can't answer any of your questions You are always late to meetings You are at an air show and know how fast the skydivers are falling You bought your wife a new CD ROM for her birthday You can quote scenes from any Monty Python movie You can type 70 words a minute but can't read your own handwriting You can't write unless the paper has both horizontal and vertical lines. You comment to your wife that her straight hair is nice and parallel. You forgot to get a haircut ... for 6 months You go on the rides at Disneyland and sit backwards in the chairs to see how they do the special effects You have Dilbert comics displayed anywhere in your work area You have ever saved the power cord from a broken appliance You have more friends on the Internet than in real life You have never bought any new underwear or socks for yourself since you got married You have used coat hangers and duct tape for something other than hanging coats and taping ducts You know what http:// actually stands for You look forward to Christmas only to put together the kids' toys You own one or more white short-sleeve dress shirts You see a good design and still have to change it You spent more on your calculator than on your wedding ring You still own a slide rule and you know how to work it You think that when people around you yawn, it's because they didn't get enough sleep You wear black socks with white tennis shoes (or vice versa) You window shop at Radio Shack You're in the back seat of your car, she's looking wistfully at the moon, and you're trying to locate a geosynchronous satellite You know what the geosynchronous satellite function is Your checkbook always balances Your wife hasn't the foggiest idea what you do at work Your wrist watch has more computing power than a 300Mhz Pentium You've already calculated how much you make per second You've ever tried to repair a $5 radio

I just found this on the Corvette Forum. I haven't used it but it may be handy to bookmark, and use when you are changing wheel/tire sizes. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

I liked it MUCH better than the remake. The girl is much cuter as well.

A heads up for those men who may be regular Lowe's, Home Depot, or Costco customers. This one caught me by surprise. Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two very good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say "No", and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds. You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen Sept 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also Oct 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 28th, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at K- Mart and bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Lowe's, Home Depot, and Costco. Signed, A Man Taken Advantage Of

Coleman's talk is terriffic. he agrees with me, how convenient. Since the ALGORE believers don't believe that sunspot activity has any affect on the climate, and want to deny that it has been colder recently, and can't count well enough to notice there are more polar bears, not fewer, and want to ignore the climate cycles, the link won't have any impact on them. Lets drill, baby drill. Strip mine the Earth, we'll do the other planets later. There is no reason to change our lifestyle, in addition to squashing the recovery from the recession, and I for one, will continue to breath out CO2, in spite of it being a "dangerous gas".

It's amusing that people will discuss the climate changes within their lifetime, when the climate cycles are 100,000 years long. As to global warming, I say Hooray!! If it wasn't for the warming, we couldn't drive our Se7ens because we would be under 1000 feet of snow and ice, from the last Ice Age. How come global warming is never welcomed for longer growing seasons for the farmers? Here is something regarding periodicity and orbits and sunspots and stuff that the "drive by media" never discusses. Lots of interesting links on his pages. http://www.mikechurch.com/joomla/kingdude-library/global-cooling-for-dummies-pt.-i.html

Tiger has been thinking with the wrong head. My wife asked me if worrying about his other women was the reason his putting was bad last season, I said the reason was, that he was worrying about his wife finding out about the other women. I wll miss watching Tiger on the tour this year.... wait, I'm not going to bother watching until he returns.

I have the Harbour Freight aluminum "racing" jack, and it has served me well for 5 years. The only problem is that "racing" jacks have large pistons to make them rise quickly. I would prefer an smaller piston to get more control over the lift. They also drop like a rock if you open the valve too far. The drop is more critical than the rise, and the other smaller jack that I have seems to drop slower and more controllable.

Fantastic, thanks for posting.

Very handy, thank you. I have been operating off of a CD which I purchased on ebay.

It's amazing that she just happened to have a golf club in her hand, so she could break the window to "save" him. It all sounds a bit mysterious, but I doubt if we will ever learn what happened, and what happened is really his business. I only hope he is not seriously hurt. He is the singular reason to watch any golf these days.

Dale: Your previous cars look terriffic. I am sure that your seven will be equally impressive. I look forward to seeing the build progress. As the owner of an S2000 powered seven, I can testify to the ruggedness and reliability of the S2000 engine and transmission. I haven't done anything to the engine except change oil regularly. I have never touched any other nuts or bolts on the engine & transmission, and have never even replaced a spark plug. I actually did look at one plug when assembling the kit, but it was OK, and the engine only had 1500 miles on it, so I didn't check the others. Hondas seem to be bulletproof.

It looks like a fantastic deal. Those Superformance S1's are the "plushest" sevens. Very high quality, it's like having a "real"car. Great buy, I am sure it will serve you well.

I saw it at the SEMA show, awesome looking machine. Of course it was just sitting there , but you could see that it was a serious machine.
