I think it came out pretty good. It has some super heat reflective material around the muffler section (not that stuff in the seat) and the rest of the shield has enough air space so that it doesn't get hot.
Sure hope our Birkin friend there doesn't get caught "enjoying" his car too much.

Yeah, we waited about an hour just to get off the freeway exit.... the sad thing was as we got close I could see that someone could of stayed in the moving left lane, went past the exit, gone about a mile to the next one and there was no line coming from the other direction:(
You might want to remember that next time... I won't be back for a while after this experience.
Went to the Air Force Base's show Saturday. Good show but the traffic in and out was horrendous!
That F22 is absolutely awesome in it's ability... don't know how practical in warfare the stunts and ability to pitch over to make a loop is but it is dramatic when it's nose practically stays in the same place as it flips and then it virtually stops when pointing straight up... bizarre looking.
Some new pilotless planes on display too.
Definately go to another DMV. You should be able to register (get all the paperwork done) a few weeks ahead so when you show up all they have to do is dial Sacramento.
My local DMV wanted the paperwork done early and the first person that registered early was number 1 when getting thru to Sacramento (happened to be me;)). They told me not to even come in that day as they'd call me when/if they got it. Not to worry you more, but the first time I applied (2008) my DMV never got thru before they notified all DMVs they were out (around 10:30). I went a year on temps which I don't think they allow anymore.
I suggest you find a DMV who's supervisor is familiar with SB100 and sounds like he/she has a plan (like taking early registration).
While the 500 allotted may not all have completed their final inspections. I can't imagine SB100s being given back. I think that's part of the problem... people get them before their car is close to being done and they sit on them. I don't think there's a time limit so technically it's yours no matter how long it takes to build. Personally, I think you should have to complete your car in the year awarded or forfeit it. I know one custom builder that told me he has "extras". That ain't right.
I bought the weather kit and regret it. I should of gotten some side protection... I wanted to add that lower side bar (not a double bar set up) but it wouldnt fit with the kit.
Live and learn
I like the Caterham full-cage set up but don't know how that would work with our cars.
Hey, it's just now starting to be driving season for me... up until the last few weeks it was too dam hot (did a couple night drives for ice cream along with a few early morning drives...)
currently:
finishing a new fuel pump sump in tank
heat shield for exhaust pipe
new fuel filter & spark plugs
installing a 7 in grill
might re-inforce fender brackets in January (only month too cold/wet to drive)
In California, I got to think if you went to the DMV office, which is always pressed for time, and and just handed over the registration paperwork they wouldn't handle it any different than a '69 camaro.
I'm not sure about it standing up... it just felt more natural to break hard and ease off as I started leaning... more of a flow thing. Of course I never lost the front wheel so I might of changed my tune after a low slide;)
Yeah, almost got a trackbike but my racing days are over and knowing me, I'd start hot and heavy and then go to trackdays 3 or 4 times a year. Figured I can do that with the 7 and still go out regularly for some early morning low flight reconnaissance.
I'm probably not the best guy to ask about tires.. I've only had it on the track once so far (fixing a G-load fuel starvation problem as we speak).
I do know that the tire pressure makes a huge difference. I'm running 20psi all around but am going to lower the back a couple pounds and check it out as the fronts are like glue but the back lets go first. But that probably has a lot to do with me.
I just found out you should have all your braking done before turn it... on my sportbike there was a little more easing off as you leaned in; guess that's not best approach for this car;)
Will be interesting to see the LM complete... and see how it cuts thru the air. I noticed "Pearl" has a more traditional cowl set up, hadn't seen that before. Nice stuff!
Awesome bikes!
I actually looked at getting one of your frames a few years back (love cycling but really didn't have the time anymore).... soooo, the money went into the S2K (you don't have to be in shape to take it out for a century ride).
It would of really been personalized as my name is Kirk as well;)
More conveniant than a Sedgeway... still comes off as if to say "how lazy can we be". Hopefully there's a benefit for some. Video is in English

Don't know if I'm repeating myself (feels like deja vue)... I've got 17x8 (225s) & 17X9 (275s) offsets are 35mm in front & 43mm in rear. I have 5x114.3 all around due to an upgraded STI differential.
I have to thank WestTexas for the dimensions when building mine, came out perfect.
I think this is about max for street..
How sad is that.... now you'll have to wash all the clothes and start dinner when you get home while she unloads the car and spends her time in the garage wiping it down etc...
Don't forget to get her a beer while she watches SCCA racing on SpeedTV and tells you what they're doing wrong. Next time you beat her she'll start accusing you of changing the car set-up to favor you...
Just kidding, I wish I could get my wife to go out there and share the feeling. Your a lucky man. I bet you'll be able to get a lot more performance parts and go to more tracks as she's into it as well. Enjoy it!
Well you likely wouldn't use the suspension bits... though Toyota, might be a bit of a hassle partswise and troubleshooting any ECU issues etc.. considering it's a Japanese spec
