Can anyone tell me where to find what Zetec I have by the serial #, or other ways? I have looked but I’m unable to find any charts or info. I do know it isn’t an SVT other than that I‘m in the dark. I sure would hate to order parts for the wrong engine. Gary :7rain:

Dave, where did you find the light "Spec brand alloy pressure plate" listed? I have not been able to find any. I have plans on pulling my engine this winter due to a rear main seal leak and adding the billet oil pump gears. I would like to do all at once. I need to miss a few meals to fund the project. My bug converted deflector / aeroshield reduced weight as well a major drag reduction. It makes faster RPM that you notice starting in the top side of 3rd and all of 4th as well as 5th. It was a 5 hour & $50 project. Gary

Dave, That is the way to go. What flywheel & crank pulley did you use, and is the engine staying cool with the undersize crank pulley? If you don't mind, where did you purchase? Gary

EvelRomeo: Here is my fun 7 purchase story: I had been looking for about a month. I still had not looked at any, other than 2 at the Pittsburgh Vintage GP. I had seen Mike & Franks Caterham there. I had wanted a 7 for several years prior, but never took a close look. I found a 3,000 mile 7 (Birkin) listed on: USA7’s.org that looked like a reasonable price. It had some spares as well as the heater & wiper kit in a box. I have a friend that removed his rear seats from his A/C. We flew up in the afternoon to Syracuse, N.Y. and met the owner at the airport. He showed up with a great looking car that was as advertised. I paid him and we loaded the parts & extra wheels & tires in the A/C, had lunch and we all departed. When I got home the parts were in my hanger. Problems: At the first fuel stop I sat by the gas pump and cut the sides from my gym shoes I used for hiking. I also stuffed some waded up paper towels in my ears, due to the drone @ 70-75 MPH. I had about a 350 mile trip home; all but 20 miles were on interstate roads. I arrived at home at 11:30 PM after stopping for a great dinner about 120 miles from home. The wife looked into the garage and said there was no way she would ever ride in it as it was too small for the road. After the first ride the next day that changed, she has become a real pest for rides after that. I spent several hours over the first 3 to 4 months adjusting pedals and seats to fit me, repacking the muffler, and after modifications I wanted, I was done. In the 4K + miles I have done in the 11 months, it has been bush start button and drive car. I feel cheated; I missed all the hair pulling, good thing as none to pull! OHIO LUCK!

If the weather gods smile, I'll try to make it.

1050 hours on the one in my RV-4. -
Cool rain this AM, no roof so a good day to look the 7 over in the warm hanger.

As I once told a very well developed young lady on inline skates: I couldn't grow skin fast enough to try that! She was much like one I passed on a very rough trail ust outside Colorado Springs on an MTN Bike, not a mark on her. I was in a fast walk & just didn't want to fall. In either case, I would have had people sending flowers to the E.M. Mazda, you didn’t add a hydrogen peroxide motor on it did you?

My R888's are my driving tires as well as A/X, I can drive them to the event. I have RT-615's for a rain tire and will be using them if I go any place that could have hard rain. I just ordered another set of Team Dynamics for my V710 slicks that just have been sitting. I got them delivered for $539 from: http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Parts/Miata/Wheels-Tires/Wheels.html I like the 13.6 pound weight & price. I'm starting to think I'm collecting wheels & tires.

Lotus/7/Cat emblems for wheel caps or .....
gjslutz replied to DB6's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
I purchased some Lotus badges on ebay that snapped in the caps that were on my Birkin wheels. This was after I had a friend cut the proper size hole in them. I also found a nose badge that I replaced the Birkin badge with. My care is titled as an 67 Lotus. I didn't want to give an excuse to someone to tow the car. -
I have the R888s, wet is fine, but as said above look out for standing water. They come up to temp very quick. They have a good feel up to the limit with plenty of warning.

Arya, both of my kids are in their 30's. I'm still a kid in my "mind" only. I had a late WW II vet tell me he just got back from a reunion with the kids he went to HS with. He flew PBY's in the war. I told him he had not been a kid for 65 years. The center of the universe is 2” behind one’s eyes, all measurements start from there so you are safe.

Arya, good call! My 16 year old daughters first car was a VW GTI with "recaro seats". My son's first car was a 37 Bentley 4 1/4 dorp head coupe that he & I restored. When he sold it and reinvested the money. It paid his way for his E.E., with help from his co-op, and very little from us @ U.C. in Oh. He was a very cheap one to send to school. He had enough after school to purchase a Mazda RX7 twin turbo to play with. He finished up with more money than he started school with.

Al, yes I'm cornerweighed for one. The new lift is great for this, prior it was a pain to do end to end to end to end all day long. You are like me as a pax. There is few I can ride with and relax, so I won't put my self through the stress. Years ago when I took my then new wife on the Tail of the Dragon it was in the fall in a Porsche with rain & leaves on the road. At one point she asked me to slow down some as she was getting sick. After a few min she said she felt beter and I coulld continue drifting. She has not changed 36 years latter. It is a different story if she gets inverted in the A/C.
-
I have let a few car type driver type frends drive mine. They drove it after a breif of the handling. If I felt they couldn't handle it I didn't offer. I'm a poor pax in a car that is being driven hard on the road, so they drove it alone. As we all know the handling is best when it is solo. I also

Hank, you are correct, that is our house. Martin,On the east side of the runway we rent out some hangers for 30+ airplanes. We give one free hanger use for his large tractor and one to a guy to take care of the mowing. I only mow the 1 acre my house & hanger is on. We purchased the airport in 1992, and we have a great pilots association that takes care of the hangers and grounds in return for very low hanger rent and fuel at cost. Everyone wins with this deal. At one point in time we even raced our golf carts. That stopped when I dropped in a 750 Honda 4 in my Club Car. I then had to take my fun to the road that runs along the S side of the airport. The looks from the folks that looked in their mirror and then got passed by a golf cart @ 70 to 80 was worth the risk. Now they get the same experience with the 7. locostv8, we have a great country setting, but not views as good as the Va MTNS. I love the slow life out here in the country! No beach & no city, just small towns, in the "locost" area of the U.S., great place to be unemployed.

Many years ago I told several people that asked, it took me 2 years to build my Miura S. All thought I was a great builder.

Jerry with 3000 sq. ft. I will likely stick with my old beat up epoxy floor. I was talked into a water based epoxy that was fine for the 1st year, then it was trash. Gary

Jerry, If I remember correctly the stuff you moved in was a new Corvette to sit on the lift. My floor never looked as good as yours. I don’t know how you do it while doing very high quality wood work. I have 18’ ceiling height in the hanger. So the “used $1500” Rotary with the extension was about 16’ high. It fit very well. Gary

Mazda, everyone warns me what I’m exposing my grandson to. They are afraid he will be a speed freak like me. My son was exposed to all of that as well as teaching him acro and formation flying at an early age. My son turned out ok and is normal. Unlike you after he got his E.E. he lost his interest in cars and aircraft. Can you imagine a Honda sedan? I’m glad to see your wife like mine is supportive of your illness. With mine our agreement was I could have anything W/O a pulse. -
Even if the wife didn’t understand after she found me with those two, the judge would. What dream?
