  5. Guys, slight (but important update to our route). Based on info from a coworker, I have changed the breakfast meeting place... updated map is here Here is a link to the restaurant ( http://www.theapplehouse.net/index.html )
  6. I'm a little confused... when you say "build one from a car already registered in Canada", by "car" do you mean a donor, like a S2000, or another Seven? You said you're asking for nose and fenders only. Are you looking to build your own frame?
  7. ain't that the truth... I'll be happy if I go at 79 but still have an active life right until the end, or 60, and have an active life right until the end. I don't want to end up unable to do anything (I realize I'm screwing up the festive mood in this thread).
  8. That's the Odyssey PC680. I think I bought mine for $119 from ebay. I eventually switched to the PC925, which is slightly larger. PC680 did a fine job cranking over my V8 even in cold weather, BUT, it does not have much charge if you keep any accessories running (without engine running). I found my car had just enough drain on the battery that if you didn't start it every 10 days, it needed a jump. With the PC925, no such problems.
  9. oh, and i'll be bringing the charcoal too. if you have any, bring your own camping chairs for sitting outside. I can't remember how many there are at the house. Dean, are you coming alone with with SO?
  10. guys, i'm planning to bring some marinated chicken on the skewer and some beer. bring drink of your choice, and some other items to throw on the flames.
  11. 24 second mark, back row :yesnod:
  12. oh, and the weather is still looking, well, AWESOME! low 70's and Sunny!
  13. I thought Tom finally got tired of his Rover mill
  14. Alright, some more details... Map with meeting points (MEETING POINT UPDATED!) Point B - McDonalds in Marshall, VA - Proposed meeting point with VA folks (Dean, Scott?). I plan to be there at 9:20 - leave at 9:30. Point C - meeting point for others (Jack and Jen, Roman?). I plan to be there at 10:00. This should be a breakfast joint. 1 hour break here. Ignore Point D. Point E is our destination. We should arrive around 3:30, depending on how many stops we make along the way. Once we get there, we have a few options... we can either: Chill out at the property, go for a hike, sit around and have a few cold ones, etc... OR Go for a spin along area roads. If you are feeling adventerous, we could go through the Highland Scenic Highway (google map of route) The full drive is 1.5 hrs each way, but we can go part way and turn around. We can make that decision when we get there, and see how tired everyone is, how much daylight left, etc... For dining, we can either bring bbq stuff, start a fire and barbque, or run up the mountain (9 miles to the top) and have dinner there. If you are interested in dining out, I will call ahead because this is the silly season between summer and winter. Here is a link to Snowshoe Village dining choices (not all will be open). I was planning on the campfire thing, but would not mind going out either. Again, chime in with your preferences and we'll go from there. BRING WARM CLOTHES. As the crew from our last trip will tell you, it can get COLD up there. We went the 3rd week of Sept last time, and in the morning, it was 30 degrees, even though the day was just delightful.
  15. Gert, I think long wear on brakes on a seven is no surprise. In addition to being light, it has the aero of a brick, and combination of aero and engine braking really reduces wear and tear on brakes. These cars also handle well, so I think without realizing it, we take alot of corners without using brakes, whereas with our other cars, it's not so. yeah, cold high performance brakes can be a bitch. I think an F1 driver once said (of cold brakes) "It's where you rest your foot on the way to a crash".

Olympic great Dawn Fraser knees intruder in groin with titanium knee SYDNEY — Elderly Olympic swimming great Dawn Fraser fought off an intruder who threatened to kill her by kicking him in the groin with her titanium knee, she has said. The 72-year-old Australian swimming legend said she "lost it" when she confronted two youths who woke her when they entered her daughter's home in Noosaville in eastern Queensland state last Friday night. Fraser, who became a global sensation aged 19 when she shattered the world record to win gold in the 100 metres freestyle at the 1956 Olympics, said she snapped when one of the youths threatened her. "Out came this guy who then grabbed me around the throat and said 'I will kill you', and with that I grabbed him around the ear and hair and kneed him in the groin," she told Channel Seven television late Monday. "I was threatened by the way he spoke to me and I'd never been spoken to like what he called me ... I think I lost it. I have got a titanium knee so it must have hurt him," she said. Fraser, who turns 73 later this week, used her reconstructed knee in self-defence while vacationing at her daughter Dawn-Lorraine's house. "(I) came up for a holiday and here I am being threatened with my life and all our security has been taken," she told the television station. Police said they had referred two youths to child protection services over the incident but said they were treating the investigation as a trespass incident, not a burglary, because no homes were broken into. Several youths entered properties in the Noosaville area on Friday night but no complaints of assault or theft have been received, they said. "A couple of the men were disturbed while this was in process," a police spokeswoman said. Fraser won eight Olympic medals, including four golds, and six Commonwealth Games gold medals during a career that spanned three Olympics. She retired in 1964.

  20. Morgan gave me a ride in Orange. Sweet deal there. Take him up on it when everything is worked out. I only lasted about 10-12 minutes before I had to ask him to pull over before I barfed [hangs head in shame].
  21. beautiful. congrats
  22. at 100 my car feels no different than lower speeds. but it's quite a bit heavier than the average seven, so that probably has alot to do with it.
  23. While riding in my Cadillac, What to my surprise. A little Nash Rambler was following me - About one third my size. The guy must’ve wanted to pass me up As he kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep! I’ll show him that a Cadillac Is not a car to scorn. Beep beep. Beep! Beep! His horn went beep beep beep. I pushed my foot down to the floor To give the guy the shake. But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind; He still had on his brake. He must have thought his car had more guts As he kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep! I’ll show him that a Cadillac Is not a car to scorn. Beep beep. Beep! Beep! His horn went beep beep beep. My car went into passing gear And we took off with gust. Soon we were doing ninety - Must’ve left him in the dust. When I peeked in the mirror of my car, I couldn’t believe my eyes: The little Nash Rambler was right behind - I think that guy could fly. Beep beep. Beep! Beep! His horn went beep beep beep. Now we’re doing a hundred and ten - This certainly was a race. For a Rambler to pass a Caddy Would be a big disgrace. The guy must’ve wanted to pass me up As he kept on tooting his horn. I’ll show him that a Cadillac Is not a car to scorn. Beep beep. Beep! Beep! His horn went beep beep beep. Now we’re doing a hundred and twenty - As fast as I could go. The Rambler pulled along side of me As if we were going slow. The fellow rolled down his window And yelled for me to hear, “Hey, Buddy, how can I get this car Out of second gear?!”
  24. that sucks man. I hope it gets better by then.
