  1. My daughter starts college in September... this is not looking good...
  2. You scrimp and save, you plan, you research, you gather advice... then you go on eBay and 'win' one of these... :banghead: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1995371477_PRS II.JPG Next year....
  3. "My darling husband, Before you return from your overseas trip I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pick-up truck when I turned into the driveway. Fortunately not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don't worry too much about me. I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake. The garage door is slightly bent but the pick-up fortunately came to a halt when it bumped into your beloved Ferrari. I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you my sweetheart. I am enclosing a picture for you. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again. Your loving wife. XXX http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/927116045_truck on ferrari.bmp PS: Your girlfriend called...
  4. So are doughnuts... I'm in the crowd on the right at the beginning BTW
  5. I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about what I might do differently - upgardeitus and all that - but, ultimately you get what you get and make the most of it. One of the best things about my first Caterham was the home build. I also loved the flared wings and 'classic' twin webber's. And it was a hoot to drive. I got my used standard Zetec here in 03 and, apart from changing the wheels (16's to 14's) have done nothing much but drive it - 8000 miles in 4 years - and it hasn't missed a beat (I've missed a couple though...). Having said that, I agree with Brad, longer 1st gear would be good. And throttle bodies, bigger brakes, hot cams, lighter flywheel... Help :banghead:
  6. Interestingly (or not), Top Gear started out as a rather forensic look at the car business - fronted by a guy called William Woollard, if I remember rightly. It would look seriously boring now, but at the time it was the only car show on TV so had a pretty loyal audience - me included. It will be interesting to see if the US version is as politically incorrect as the UK original because that, along with the choice of presenters obviously, accounts for much of it's current popularity in the UK. The core audience used to be old farts like me - it's much younger now.

    Lotus XI build

Excellent. Another chance to post the XI photo I took at the Goodwood Revival meeting - 98 I think. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1928743980_11 at goodwood, web.jpg
  8. Bob, I remember nearly catching one of your overflow bottles on our West Va blat - was it coke or Pepsi?
  9. Glorious Goodwood that be. Very quick circuit
  10. It's all in how you position the lights on a Seven... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/451096562_big cans061.jpg
  11. Great idea, but get the engine in before the
  12. Bob, I've done this. The answer is 70. Wrap up warm :yesnod:
  13. Doh! Eldersburg, MD, obviously
  14. I have a torque wrench (bought for the exact same reason) that I could bring up to DC if that helps. When I did my rear hubs I went to my local garage and borrowed a 41mm socket for an hour - they didn't even charge me - it's worth asking 'cos it's probably (hopefully) a one time use thing. I could be around to help with installation, where are you exactly? Steve.
  15. Great engine. I had three Sierra Cosworth's in the UK back in the 80's, which were stolen a total of 9 times between them Here's the last one http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1497528719_cosworth green090.jpg
  16. Send it to Ali Ansar at Caterham, he seems to be up for innovations...
  17. Welcome aboard Gary :hurray: Where in Northern Va are you? There's a pretty active Autox crew up there (as you probably know already from the forum). I'm sure they'll be along soon to give you 'advice' Steve
  18. That looked suspiciously like the Top Gear dog in there... :hurray:
  19. Welcome Terry. That is one sweet looking seven

    Lucky Escape

    And some... http://www.break.com/index/luckiest-rally-car-fan-ever.html
  21. A lot of the UK boys are running the 888's on the street now - I've seen them advertised at around $100 each in the UK. They're not great in the wet from what I've heard...
  22. I almost forgot (and having started this thread, I should have thought of this sooner...), on the wall in the boardroom of Ford of Europe is a large painting - and quite a good one - of a Trimotor banking over the Ford factory in Detroit. Beautiful.
  23. I'm late getting to this... Here's my Momo - 260mm http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/165575700_momo.JPG And here's the wheel that came with the car originally, a 'Mountney GT' approx 12" diameter. I'm be happy to part with it if anyone's interested. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1767986422_mountney.JPG Happy holidays!
