  1. Tom, Thanks for the info but I doubt I will be heading East this year. I am leaving for Laguna Seca next Wednesday for two days on the track with the Caterham (although it is a Miata only event, the Cat qualified because of the Miata engine and transmission).
  2. No Speakah De English A bus stops and 2 Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation. The lady sitting next to them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of them say the following: “Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more! Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time.” The lady can't take this any more, “You foul-mouthed sex obsessed pig,” she retorted indignantly! “In this country we don't speak aloud in public places about our sex lives!” “Hey, coola down lady,” said the man. “Who talkin' abouta sex? I'm a justa tellin' my frienda how to spell ' Mississippi '!’ $500.00 says you're gonna read this again
  3. MY PRIVATE PART DIED An old man, Mr.. Wallace, was living in a nursing home. One day he appeared to be very sad and depressed. Nurse Tracy asked him if there was anything w rong, 'Yes, Nurse Tracy ,' said Mr. Wallace. 'My Private Part died today, and I am very sad.' Knowing her patients were a little forgetful and sometimes a little crazy, she replied, 'Oh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Wallace. Please accept my condolences.' The following day, Mr.. Wallace was walking down the hall with his Private Part hanging out of his pajamas. He met Nurse Tracy.. 'Mr. Wallace,' she said, 'You shouldn't be walking down the hall like that. Please put your Private Part back inside your pajamas.' 'But, Nurse Tracy I can't,' replied Mr. Wallace. 'I told you yesterday that my Private Part died. 'Yes,' said Nurse Tracy, 'you did tell me that, but why is it hanging out of your pajamas?' (You've gotta love this .) 'Well,' he replied, 'Today is the viewing.'
  4. In this article they are putting the Busa engine in a Miata but the adapter parts are going to be marketed and might be an alternate solution for BECs. http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/articletype/articleview/articleid/1519/project-miatabusa-part-1-what-the-hell-we-are-thinking.aspx BTW, the reverse gear on a Miata transmission is synchronized. The only other car I know of that does that is the Lamborghini.
  5. Spotted this on CL in Denver. I have a similar one for hauling my Caterham and it tows very well and fits a Seven and even a Miata. This one is a flat front while mine has the V-nose. The V-nose makes it a little easier to tie down the front of the Seven. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1667492704.html I have no fiduciary interest, etc, etc.
  6. I put in a call to Hamlin Fabrication (707-935-6825) to see if they are the manufacturers of the loop. I'll post back after I hear from them. Edit: I got a call back from someone Hamlin referred my name to. He has them for Birkins only. I called Hamlin back and talked to Roger Hamlin. He thinks the one in the above pictures was probably a prototype. The production run he made for the Birkins was several years ago and was a flame cut plate rather than the U-bolt type. It requires two holes be drilled in the frame members. He said he may do a production run for Caterhams if there were at least 12 of us willing to pay around $150 each. Anyone else interested? It will be a plate type, not a U-bolt like the one above.
  7. Where can I buy this Hamlin propshaft safety loop? I googled it six ways from breakfast and the only actual hit was the Caterham for sale ad above. Would one loop on the front end of the shaft be sufficient or should there be one on each end?

7even, I signed it. What a waste of taxpayer's money for the gov to try to regulate something that has been used for years by many so people with so few problems.
  9. I think it is working now, at least it works for me. It also worked yesterday as I tested it when I first posted it. Strange things happen on the internet.
  10. http://dingo.care2.com/cards/flash/5409/galaxy.swf And here's a virtual flyby of Mars FWIW, I worked on the HiRISE camera project for a short period at Ball Aerospace.
  11. ACT, the high performance clutch company came out with one piece chromoly flywheels for the Miata a few years ago, I have one in my Caterham. 8.5 lb and I have no worry about it exploding on me. It may be worth checking to see if they make one for the Zetec engine. I just checked their website for a Ford SVT engine and they don't have one at this time.
  12. Welcome aboard. Is this your new Caterham? That's quite a stable of performance cars you have. I also have a turbo Miata.
  13. Great concept. I was frothing at the mouth to buy one until I found the price, $4,450, probably not including shipping from the UK.
  14. I was curious so I called Ben at CaterhamUSA. He thinks there are 10 - 12 CSRs in the USA.
  15. I believe CaterhamUSA has brought in at least four of them. I've seen two different ones in their shop. One was pretty much totaled, requiring a new frame, suspension and bodywork. IIRC, three of the four went to the NW part of the country.

  17. The Se7en plate has been on that car for over two years while the car was being built. All the Alaska DMV required was a peace officer's VIN inspection to issue plates even though the car had never been in Alaska. It doesn't get any easier than that to register a new kit car. After four days of warm Spring weather, it is raining this afternoon and the forecast is for 6 - 10" of snow in Denver by tomorrow evening. The unidentified Seven in the second row belongs to Andy Aust whom I don't believe is on this forum.
  18. Alaskossie's ESL has a mountain bike brake cable for the throttle cable. Nathan needed one with a built in 90 degree bend to clear the roller throttle bodies as it came out of the pedal box. It looked pretty tiny compared to the throttle cables I am used to seeing.
  19. Oops, too many names and cars to keep them all straight.
  20. Lots of flashing lights and sound to distract him as well. An excellent job of driving, especially when he holds the wheel with his knee while circling inside the barriers with his hands off the steering wheel.
  21. Bruce, I'm not that familiar with the Zetec world but with the popularity of that engine there should be alternatives out there.
  22. I got word from Tom this morning that he made it back to Gypsum with no problems. He now has the less than pleasant task of finding an intermittent electrical gremlin.
  23. Take the money and run. Have you ever seen a car where the flywheel exploded? I have and the driver lost both legs and wiped out a very nice '56 Chevy. That appears to be a two piece (not counting the timing ring) flywheel with a replaceable friction surface. If so, find one that is a single piece design in chromoly, much safer. They cost about the same and are much safer.
  24. Here's a link to some more photos taken when most of the people had left.
