The press release said curb weight is approximately 3350 lb. Actual weight usually comes in higher than curb weight. I have a feeling that the actual HP and torque numbers will be higher than the "at least 100 hp per liter" in the release. IMHO the car has a Hot Wheels look, although I still want one.

A Se7en is too honest to ever be a politician.:flag:

http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1666533646_DSC03192.JPG I don't know the brand or model as I bought it used off the internet and the seller didn't know what it was. The emblem in the center is from a Caterham Super 7 nose cone. The wheel is about 1" larger diameter than the MOMO wheel that came with the kit. It also had a different bolt circle than the MOMO so a friend machined me the adaptor shown below. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/531242951_DSC03193.JPG

The motorcycle guys should give him their Iron Butt award.

His uh, getaway car doesn't look all that complete, unless he is swift of foot you shouldn't have much trouble catching him.

I did a little digging and found some more info related to this video. Can you imagine 21,000 km in 100 days in China in a Se7en? Here is a Slide Show, great photography. Here's the Main Website. What an adventure.

Caterham on a U-Haul Vehicle Trailer?
scannon replied to xflow7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Measure the inside spacing between the wheels and see if your track is wide enough for their trailer. They should be able to tell you that with a phone call. You can minimize the breakover by disconnecting the trailer from the tow vehicle and using the tongue jack to raise the front of the trailer as high as it will go. Maybe even put a block under the jack to maximize the elevation. Have someone watching the underside of the car while you slowly drive it up onto the trailer. -
Alaskossie sent me this one, I thought it should be shared here: Clicky

How about MOTUS7 (Monster of the United States 7)? -
Many years ago I had a '61 A-H 3000 in which I had installed a 327 Corvette motor and transmission. The car was totally reliable after that expcept one time. The starter refused to engage and as I was parked on a gentle slope I decided to push it off and bump start it. I got it moving pretty good and as I jumped into the driver seat, the toe of my left foot touched the pavement just long enough for the rear tire to catch up with it. The car had wide rear tires that projected about 1.5" beyond the body. The tire forced the foot forward and down and ran over the sole of my shoe and on up my calf, fortunately exiting to the right before it hit my knee. My foot was smashed into the pavement with only a sneaker between it and the asphalt. My world turned bright orange with unbeliveable pain. It took a few seconds before I could see and act again by which time the car was doing close to 15 mph. I pulled myself the rest of the way into the car and got my right foot on the brake and pulled off the road. I had four broken bones in my left foot and some road rash on the knee. To this day, once in a while one of those bones will get out of place and I will be limping for a while until it works back in place.

The speedometer that came with my '04 Caterham would not work with either my Mazda sensor or with a sensor on the front wheel. I bought a newer model that is more programable. The one for sale is the 4 dip switch speedo and it only has two settings. > Low value 8380 pulses per mile (sw1,3and 4 off) (sw1 on) > High value 8790 pulses per mile (sw1,3 and 4 on) (sw2 off) I am assuming this is to accomodate the 3.6 and 3.9 differential ratios. The odometer reads about 100 miles. If you have the Sierra trans and Caterham sensor, this speedo should work for you. If you need the sensor, I traded the one I had to RMSC and I suspect they still have it available. I paid $305 for the new one, this one can be yours for only $150. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1924816459_DSC03186.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1450228287_DSC03187.JPG

Offer to buy the car but put $2k - 4k of the price into escrow. Get the car to your shop and fix it and then come to terms with the seller on how much goes to you and how much to him. Get it all in writing (with a notary signature) and in addtion to any parts required include $s per hour for your labor that he would have had to spend anyway. That way you will know the work is done right and if it requires a total overhaul, you will be mostly covered. OR, just negotiate the price down and take it as is if he is not willing to do an escrow.

Good article and pictures. Two things stood out that don't quite make sense. One is the price as tested at just under $38k. I don't believe that includes the engine & transmission. I went to the RMSC website and priced out a Roadsport SV. Equiped as mine is (an '04 Roadsport SV), the kit would have cost over $38k and they didn't show the option for the 16" wheels both the test car and my car have. I don't have anything on mine in the way of options that wasn't on the test car. RMSC lists the SVT Focus engine starting at $9,400 so the test car is closer to $50k by the time you get an engine and transmission in it. The other thing is that the weight at 1,440 lb is 100 lb more than my car which has a cast iron turbo and manifold as well as an intercooler and plumbing that the test car doesn't have. I would have expected it to come in lighter than my car.

SPA mirrors in black plastic (NOT carbon fiber) with adaptors from Sevens & Elans for the Caterham windscreen. On the car for about 2k miles, no scratches. I can powdercoat the mounts flat black if you wish. $100 for the pair with mounts. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2117887583_DSC03172.jpg

WCM Ultralight featured in Latest Kit Car Magazine
scannon replied to scannon's topic in General Sevens Discussion
That car is intended to be a very high performance Turtledeck T hot rod, it's not the upcoming Se7en body however the Se7en will be built on the same chassis using a C5 donor car. -
It is on the cover and a closeup of the front suspension is on page 3. The four page layout starts on page 66 with a short history of Chapman, Lotus and the Seven. The car is beautiful and the article praises the owner's workmanship. Al Olseen is the owner, are you lurking on this forum Al? Great car. The magazine also mentions that Dragon Motorsports is planning a Super 7 body kit for their basic C5 Corvette based Dragon chassis. Should be the widest Se7en yet. http://www.dragonmotorcars.com/

What Peter doesn't mention is that he got to drive his old Seven while at LOG27. I chatted with Peter several times over the LOG27 weekend and offered to let him drive my Caterham but he politely declined. I think he was savoring the experience of driving his old car. He did agree to autograph my pedal box cover.

If you want more centrally located tracks, there are several in Colorado and a new one in Hastings, Nebraska. We should be getting a new one located about 1 hour east of Denver sometime in 2008. None of these are famous like those mentioned above, but they are still fun to drive and could be slotted in after a visit to the Dakota/Montana/Wyoming area.

I'd love to have that particular Cobra replica. One level deeper gets you this package for a mere $25k

And other uh, mods!

Not quite, he passed 23 of the 65 cars in the two laps shown. Still pretty amazing. He was gridded on the 7th row so everyone he passed was slower than he was from the git go. In the last frame you can see many cars way up the track from where he was. His engine stalled and wouldn't restart on the grid so he got a bump start from gravity after the rest of the field had gone around him. Starting grid is a bit down hill. You can watch him roll off slowly, then see it slow down as he pops the clutch, then when it fires, he's off to the races. He was doing an excellent job of driving, I wonder where he finished.

I'm interested. When you set a date I will add it to my calander and see how it fits with other summer activities. I like the idea of combining it with the British car show and then some Se7en only activities. Is a track day possible?

We hit 78 yesterday for a high, right now it is 37F.

Gary, I have an 18' H&H aluminum speedloader. I wanted something big enough to haul larger cars as well as the Se7en. The version I got is 8.5' wide with an 18' bed and weighs 1,400 lb. It is a hydraulic tilt bed with dual axles and brakes. Cost was $3,750 with a winch, led lighting, E track, spare wheel and tire, break away package and removable fenders. I have towed my Seven (1,340 lb.) on it behind my Legacy GT with no problems although I now have use of a GMC pickup with a small V8. I was concerned about burning out the clutch in the Subie if I got stopped on a steep grade. Here's a picture of it with two Sevens aboard. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1465943812_DSC02863.JPG
