What kind of camp? Any pictures?

If you like history, you will like these videos. They are the real thing from the 1920's. Win Perkins, a real estate appraiser who specializes in airport properties, has posted on his Website, a video he created of Charles Lindbergh's famous and risky takeoff in the "Spirit of St. Louis" (20 May, 1927). According to Perkins, this is unlike any other presentation of the take off footage. Perkins said he "painstakingly assembled news footage from five cameras that filmed Lindbergh's takeoff from Roosevelt Field, Long Island "and "mixed it with enhanced audio from the same newsreel sources." When you click on the address, episode #3 comes up ready to play. I suggest you first click on "CONTACT" to the left and select #1, then watch them in order, #1 through #4 (Each time going back to "contact" and selecting the next one). What guts it took for Lindbergh to overcome the odds, and accomplish this amazing feat! It puts the competitors into perspective ... over a dozen planes and crews were poised or attempted the flight. http://www.airportappraisals.com/

My Caterham is not wrapped in vinyl but it is completely covered (except for the louvers) in 3M clear bra. It has held up very well for 7 years and 25k miles. There is a small area below the rear fender rock shields that is not protected and there is very little blue paint left there. I had it done by a free lance woman who came to my shop to do the work. She is an artist with clear bra but unfortunately she has moved to parts unknown. I have thought from time to time about wrapping my car in yellow, but it costs about what a paint job would.

That front fender looks to be the type that is mounted to the chassis rather than the upright. It won't move up and down or left and right with the wheel. -
I was thinking it was more for Caterham than Cowell.

So what's the story on the Cowell car? Only 76 miles, how many of those did he put on it? Was it just a publicity stunt?

I've had a set of the cast hole type show massive micro cracks after a couple of years of street and track use on my Miata. Since then I have only used the blank ones. If you go with the drilled type make sure the holes are cast in rather than drilled. The drilled disks are more prone to cracking than the cast holes.

Dave, Add my congrats to the rest of them above, great color and great looking Seven. How does it drive and I'll bet it goes like a bat outa hell with that S2K motor.

A crusty old Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young, idealistic ladies in attendance one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation. She said, "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?" "Negative, maam," the Sergeant Major said, "Just serious by nature." The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action." The Sergeant Majors short reply was, "Yes, maam, a lot of action." The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself." The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner. Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?" The Sergeant Major looked at her and replied, "1955." She said, "Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously! I mean, no sex since 1955!" She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to "relax" him several times. Afterwards, and panting for breath, she leaned against his bare chest and said, "Wow, you sure didnt forget much since 1955!" The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his matter-of-fact voice, "I hope not, its only 2130 now."

Find the local chapter of the Cobra club (for clones). They will have been through the process many times and probably have a writeup on the process. Found a Texas Cobra club for you. You have to join the club to get access to their FAQ and such but it looks like it is free. http://www.txcobraclub.com/home-mainmenu-1

Depends on your DMV. Some will issue temporary tags to get you through inspections and such, others do not. When I built my Caterham the Colorado DMV was not issuing temps for kit cars, now they do. I had to trailer my car to the Highway Patrol office that did the inspections.
-
Also thanks for the heads up. Just for some context I also recorded the following episodes on the Alfa 4C and Bugatti Veryron.

It will depend on the fender stay clearance if you have cycle fenders on the front. If not should be no problem. I run 205/50-15s on my Caterham SV with cycle fenders. Close fit to the stays. It will depend on the casing width, not all tires of a given size are the same width. Also there could be a problem with the cycle fenders themselves. There are two sizes for different wheel sizes, it will depend on what wheels and tires your car came with from the factory. Order a set through Discount Tire, they will match the Tire Rack price and likely source them from Tire Rack. If they don't fit as has happened to me twice recently they will take them back and get something else or you can go elsewhere.

Easy enough to lengthen the shaft as it comes out of the dash. Just loosen the impact clamp and slide the upper shaft back a bit and retighten the clamp.

There are similar cam covers out there for the 1.8 Miata engines as well. I've seen what happens when a rock gets thrown up into the timing belt of a running engine, not pretty. But then the Miata engine is a non-interference engine so no immoral intercourse between valves and pistons and the attendant mayhem of interference engines.
-
That must have been quite the surprise. Was the car ordered through Superformance or Caterham USA in Denver?

I have that article in higher res jpegs if anyone is interested in reading them. They run around 2.2mb each so I can't post them but will email them if someone is interested.

That's a Crazy Cart under that mini F1 Lotus. Sort of like the Ken Box video.

I am planning on doing it myself. What could possibly go wrong?

Can you imagine having to start all those engines before you can ride? There is a video out there showing them starting that motorcycle or one very similar. The new Predator engine arrived this AM. It will be awhile before I can start on the conversion but I'm looking forward to more HP.

It's all fairly familiar as Sevens go as well: an off-the-shelf Ford engine, some uprated internals, a dinky steering wheel and not a lot else. The Seven 480 will cost $52,900 (£31,480) and appears similar in spec to the Seven 485 homologated for European markets last year. With 240hp it will hit 60 in 3.4 seconds and a 140mph top speed. Might even be quicker than a Corvette away from the lights. The Seven 360 is perhaps most similar to the Supersport R offered here with 180hp and a 4.9-second 60mph sprint. The name therefore relates to its power-to-weight ratio rather than a predilection for doughnuts... It costs $44,900 (£26,720). Caterhams have been officially on sale in the US since January through Superformance. It's not a simple process though, with the cars shipped part-built and sold in Superformance dealers as rolling chassis for customers to complete personally. But surely the effort would be worth it for some American track days? Just imagine a Seven 480 at Laguna Seca.

What I'd really like is a small four cylinder motorcycle engine back there to get the sound right but there just isn't enough room. I may have to cut a hole in the rear body panel for this larger Predator engine to clear the valve cover.
