  1. Still planning to go. I'll see what I can do about hotels, or camping, since I am but a poor artist. http://herb.linkrealms.com/tour_for_web/Rainy_Camp.jpg
  2. That supression system's only review says to be aware that it can not be exposed to freezing temps. Well that ruins it for me. My car is going to freeze once again tonight in the garage.
  3. I'd cut an angle starting from the body and moving upward to the edge by the wheel. Just a couple inches of angle there will do a lot to help the fender look better. My Birkin does that, and I have to say Birkin did a great job in adding very subtle angles and tapers to improve the looks of that fender. What we 7ers have to try to avoid is the "trailer fender" look. Birkin angles the front fenders leading edge quite a bit and I like that too.
  4. Strange. Looks like something spewed fuel into the cockpit? One thing I don't like about the 7 design is that it uses the gas tank as the rear bumper. Whats worse, for some reason the fuel cells have doubled-or-more in price in the last few years as if nobody wants to make them and there's no price competition anymore. I just cant afford a fancy one. If I get hit from behind, I hope I can get out fast and reach my extinguisher under the passenger dash if I cant.
  5. I can't even imagine that kind of power in a 7. I'd have to learn how to drive all over again.
  6. I have a 2003 Birkin S3 and it's very reliable. I've enjoyed the heck out if it and have about 22,000 miles of mixed driving in it. Any problems I've had have had nothing to do with Birkin's kit, but rather, the parts I installed on it (Such as a cheap alternator etc). I highly recommend Birkin. I look at the new suspension designs they have and I admit I am jealous. I don't think there are many things I've purchased that I've been so happy with (and that includes the various Russian and Asian brides). To be honest I don't know why Cat gets all the attention and nobody in the USA thinks about Birkin, when its such a great machine and soooooo sexy looking! http://herb.linkrealms.com/lotus/Birkin_July_2014_01.jpg
  7. Now thats how to build a car. Frankly nothing the major companies produce has me the slightest, and I mean slightest, bit interested. This car seems to be something special, like the Elise. I wish I could afford one. Of course, how many sports cars can a guy use? heh. PS, if you want to send that beat up old nasty prototype my way, I'll promise to give it a good home.
  8. It must be the lead fumes and aluminum dust keeping him so well pickled. I met a guy in California that did that exact thing. Its really interesting to me-- I'd love to have the time and money to try it. Takes a lot of tools and space, though. It'd be awesome if aluminum noses were available for the 7s. I've seen a few but not many.
  9. I hate to say it but I would NOT race on the same track as that guy in the white car. I've seen better racing manners at the bumper car gokart track. The other drivers are "WTF?" as he cuts right across them whether they're ahead or behind. Looks like he finally got wiped out doing that at 13:35.
  10. Toyo RA1 for the win. I've had them on my Birkin for 22,000 miles. The first set wore out the backs at 16K. Thats pretty good life for how I drive (spirited daily driver). I could not be more pleased with these tires. They're $150-ish each. I got mine from tires direct.
  11. Darling, whats that stink? My God, James, there's a weeks old dead fish in the heater vent! Great googly moogly! And I thought it was your octapussy!
  12. You know the civilization is about to collapse when you start seeing the elite building ever crazier pyramid projects.
  13. Yeah just looking at it I'd have said 2003. And a nice one it is!
  14. Its the tires that would have scared me at any speed.
  15. I remember seeing some Chinese cars that crumpled up like that after taking a 40mph hit.
  16. I've considered doing a wrap next time I need to paint the car, but I'd have to experiment with it to see how well it handles the 100 louvers in the hood. That could be a serious problem.
  17. Now help me out here. I thought the ultimate subsonic aero shape was essentially the shape of a bullet-- Blunt nose, smooth sides, then a flat backside. Some car company made a hideous prototype that looked like that and said it was essentially impossible to improve on that shape. Of course, some bullets use that shape, such as a .45, while others like a .223 have a pointy nose. Boat-tail bullets are sort of a specialty round, so I always assumed they were for supersonic loads. So what about the bullet shape? Judging from the stuff I've read above, it'd be among the WORST shapes.
  18. You REALLY need to get some rock chips on that car. Pronto!
  19. You get used to the wind. At first it makes your left arm hairs tingle for about 10 minutes after a long drive. Your scalp tingles too, even though your hair has stopped flailing around. But I have a solution! It works for me: The bald look. I don't even notice the wind anymore. Try it out!
  20. Well the Russian's tires were just inner tubes with some kind of spring-steel straps holding it together. It would need to replace that with some kind of purpose-built tire to really be useful. The concept is interesting though. Imagine if they had those in WW2!

    technology

Everything that CAN be invented HAS been invented. Close the patent office.
  22. I cant believe you guys are making jokes about this crash. Cant we all just pray for the survivors and mourn those that didn't make it? The press is saying the Russians did it but I blame Kiev's trigger happy army.
  23. That was a lot of fun. Thanks! And frankly, perfect for this forum
  24. The zoomer sure is good looking. Imagine it with a real interior. But I love the lines on that car. Someone knew just how to enhance the lines of a 7. Of course the price is the 'collector price'... It'd be neat if people building locosts would experiment a little like that more often. Very nice stalker. Whats with the stalkers? They come up for sale a lot in proportion to their production numbers. I wonder if it is because the people that buy them tend to be more of the American hot-rod crowd and there are so many other awesome cars that appeal to them that its less likely a stalker sticks with the same owner for its whole life... Anyhow, the only cars I'd be interested in these days would be the latest Birkin or a Stalker or one of those little Xanthos things. Like I say I love Birkins, but that one is hideous Isn't it funny how the 'woman's purse' industry has bullsh*tted itself into that price range? Beany Babies but made with baby seal nose leather. Bleh. I think that the frame is rather too expensive. I know perhaps its worth that much if one added up the time and materials to build it, but we car guys know that you can never recover what you put in to a hot rod project. Unless you're building a Birkin (hand bag) and can make 19,900% profits on a day's work LOL
  25. I have a $20 serial-to-usb adapter that works perfectly with my Megasquirt 2. I got sick of using an ancient POS laptop. Your MS housing is a bit bigger than mine. I mounted mine in the same place, though. Its funny how hard it is to find room for something so small in a 7.
