Push-button replacement for Dzus fasteners on Caterham nose.
CBuff replied to pethier's topic in General Tech
They used to be cadmium coated but I think the environmental folks didn’t like that. They also have zinc coated. these are more expensive but are powder coated (and black). I have not ordered from this place so no first hand experience. Not sure if ours are #5 or #6 https://dragracesolutions.com/black-butterfly-winged-head-fasteners-5-16-500-4pk/ -

I may eventually to a permanent change to the hardware. In the interim I got this which works well Bryke Racing Quarter Turn... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D954QJO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share -
@Croc thanks for this. Yet another amazing element from a great weekend.

what is this crazy hot 68R (resistor?) under my dash? 2021 Caterham
CBuff replied to Austin David's topic in General Tech
Glad to know it doesn’t stay that hot when the engine is running. I had the accessory on and ignition off when I was trying to located the turning beeper. So it was hot for sure. Another mystery solved. -

I have that as well 2023 420r. Found it while trying to muffle my turn signal beeper. Reaching around back there and came across that one. Very hot for sure. sorry no insights on what it does. But can confirm I also have it. -
My 2023 Duratec was filled with motocraft yellow I believe. It is easily available. If you are doing a replacement / flush I think you’re pretty good with any of their products. It’s just mixing that can be tricky.
-
Not sure what year your sigma is. You could do a motocraft but just check about comparability. Some coolants don’t mix well with others. https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/quickref/coolantsEN.pdf

I am very biased. But love the green. Good luck. I can’t offer many insights as mine was factory built but happy to take pictures or measure anything on my car if you need. Mine is a 2022/2023 so it should be very similar.

I have been taking a deep dive into all this over the last year. I plan on eventually installing a msd solid state switch with addt fusing for a variety of things. but you can scale it up or down pretty easy. You can run a power lead to the master cut off so it will be cut off with mco. Also keeps the battery from having too many leads coming off of it. Make sure you fuse appropriately. if your not in a hurry we can run thru options when we meet up again. I also have a giant box of wiring , fuses, switches etc you can raid.

Maybe the clockwise running at the track. Ie more right turns than left. Heavier compression on the left side the car ????

So slight update. Fuel gauge mod has been working great. Inadvertently ran it all the way down to empty ( a needles width above R) at the USA 7 event this weekend. No issues but opted to fuel up at the track. Took 9.5 gallons (assuming it’s a 10.8 gal tank (SV)) with 1.5 gallons unreachable with the pickup. likely won’t push it that close in the future but very happy with the mod. Thanks again @BruceBe And @CatManDo

It’s on the wish list as an upgrade.

My first pass at throwing something together from the weekend. I took the liberty of poaching some photos and video that was posted up here. Please let me know if you have any issues with that or if you would rather not be in any of the video (I can re- edit). Thanks again to everyone for sharing the experience and being so gracious with your time and knowledge. I will likely make another version of this when some more photos and video becomes available. (and apologies for some of the footage quality - iPhones with no tele lenses makes it tough).

since @Croc gets dragged into any type of chat, reprimand or formal hearing for any attendees at the track event. He gets a chance to put a real name and face the online handle. (This group gets a solid C with its “adulting”) Thanks again Mike for everything!!

I’m surprised you could raise your wine to your mouth after that upper body work out

And Mike before your comment, yes, to be clear. Apexs were missed.

not my best lap. But shows some of the data and video

Race chrono does overlay video. I just have to sit down and sort thru with the go pro and download those files. I think it can have up to three cameras. im trying to avoid too much ragging from the amount of crap I have bolted onto my car. I have more information coming in at the moment than I can process. But for me it’s the fun part. And the fact that starting from basically scratch small changes based on yours and others feedback translate into big improvements. Which makes it all the more fun. As with most things as I get better things improvements are harder to attain. Knocking off almost 10 seconds in two days is a great reward. The next 10 seconds will take a lot longer to shave off.
-
I was going to say “camera distortion” but that photo is pretty hard to argue with. I was getting better, mostly thanks to you and the other guys. Thanks again to everyone for being so generous with their time and knowledge. Note: I think I did hit the apex once or twice. (Working on linking the video )

After attending this years meet up. I noticed a similar issue on my 2023 420r dry sump. While I initially chocked it up to over filling the oil (I drained some after I noticed the spray). It continued thru the day. The breather catch can never had any oil in it - but did have residue. I believe it’s just passing thru somewhat aerosolized and then dripping down the inside of the side skin. Of course it then drips off the rail and, at speed, ends up giving the rear left wing and my elbow a nice coating. @11Budlite are you still happy with the radium tanks performance? Other than gaining some height by installing it in the scuttle was there any other motivation for placing it there ? Since it only really happens on track I think this will slot into a winter project.

Must have been an earlier session. I could have sworn the latter runs were mistake free ;-)

You could get something like this and either have it charged at home. Have it in the boot charging (depending on your 12v situation - cig lighter or if you have a 12v in your boot ). That way it’s there and always charged. Jump the car when needed. But agree it’s not a long term solution https://a.co/d/7AdSgNj battery cut off would buy you much more time. I don’t believe you need to get the caterham one which is much more complicated (connecting to a variety of things in the car). https://a.co/d/3y6OsRG
