Purple meanie did a big write up on coolant layouts. Not sure if this helps. https://purplemeanie.co.uk/index.php/2025/02/02/simple-engine-cooling-explained/ https://purplemeanie.co.uk/index.php/2017/09/23/build-session-17-5-caterham-420r-water-and-oil-overview/

Just saw this from Toyo. Proxes sport R coming in 13” sizes in Q1 2026. They seem to be street dot compliant 200 tread wear. Likely less effective on track than the r888r but maybe for the road going crowd another option. https://www.toyotires.com/product/proxes-sport-r/

Well I think my 2025 miles are about done with the salty roads here in New York. Missed my goal by 70 miles. 9930 miles as of today. Still happy since it’s just from last June. And roughly 14 tracks days as well. Thank you all for helping motivate me.

Vintage green. Caterhams take on brg. Grey stripes with gunmetal pinstripes fuel mod 12v. My setup is fully reversible. I did drill some holes in my fuse box cover for two 3 way switches and and aux power outlet. So I have a new one on hand to reverse it if needed. https://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/121/75643/10002/-1?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22902591282&gbraid=0AAAAAD6OBREVMM7s_bU_lGIlKFr9QH24f&gclid=Cj0KCQiAi9rJBhCYARIsALyPDtvwfnhcwQJIRLnT4kruVFfr2RF-lRSf3QDhU5UbqmgrKe4Kn7arhjkaAkelEALw_wcB I can switch the boot outlet and dash stuff to ign switched or constant power. It’s still post master cutoff so I can still cut off the entire but I knew I was a baubles and bolt on kind of guy. So having a bunch of fuses open for additions has been helpful so it’s not a mess (more of a mess ) under the dash. system. insulation - I’m in the northeast so heat hasn’t been that much of an issue. I usually run without doors as well. On super hot days it’s warm for sure. But at that point don’t think insulation would mitigate that. And yes much to the chagrin of the die hards I have a heater. Which I like and use.

I pondered / did many on your list. third level brake light - I did the caterled add on. Mounted it low on the vertical members of the roll bar. I very much like them I did the fuel gauge plug and play mod. Easy enough. I think some new owners have reported it’s not an issue. But who knows if caterham fixed it or it’s just variance build to build. battery tender - I redid my entire auxiliary 12v system with an msd solid state 4 channel switch (I think it’s written up in my 420 New York write up). This allows me to just plug the tender into the 12v cig outlet in boot or under dash. Although I have been driving enough I don’t really use the tender much. shift knob - I was pondering this at the beginning. My brain recalibrated so I no longer get jammed up on the bottom of the dash. My hands just naturally work around it. So likely won’t address. mirrors. I did the pillar mount. I rarely run with doors. And have traded the door opening all the way for not having to address mirrors when doors come on and off. I think door mounts also have a certain amount of vibration that cannot be avoided. For my use I vastly prefer. radiator protection - I saw vanderhall folks addressing this and briefly thought about it. I think the grill does a sufficient job. My instinct is that the radiator will shake itself apart before road debris hits cause it to fail sun visor, heat insulation, and horn. I haven’t felt the need to address these.

He was trying to grab his front fender as it sailed by.

Skid plates and knobby tires ? (Is this joke running out of steam?). I will stay quiet, with these upgrades and you making it more to the track, I’ll be at the back of the pack soon enough.

Copy. I’m out in Wayne Thur and Friday. Happy to grab whatever

Man I want to make a joke at your expense. But you have far more knowledge than I.

I would be interested in dropping the rpms. Not only my high speed cruising. But on track I am often hitting the limiter in 4th. And sometimes end up going to 5th very briefly but I think the extra shift negates any time advantage.
-
I told Steve it was a bmw 3.91 unit. And he didn’t mention any issues. The 3.6 would give me higher rpms correct ? I am already ripping at 4100 rpm at 80. Hate to bump that higher even if it puts me in a better power band on track. I mentioned the diff situation to Greg @time machine. He was surprised it happened so quickly (12 track days 9900 miles). i want to get it up on stands and check preloads and try and confirm it’s actually the lsd that’s the cause of the issue. It’s certainly still drivable so won’t rush to take it off the road. But will flush out my options.

I had checked that website. It’s minor but was toying with the idea of the heater knob extension (yes yes. I have a heater). I think my “big” gift I was toying with was a transport lsd. I have been getting some wheel spin (?) during hard acceleration under hard cornering. Was going to check my preloads next time the car was up in the air to try and confirm is the lsd. since my mechanical skills are limited. Was going to go the @BlakeJ route and have Steve perks source a new diff from caterham and drop the transport into it and ship the whole unit to me. And try to install myself ? Likely with panicked calls to you all to get it installed. Roughly £3,000 plus shipping. For the lsd, diff and install) As suggested maybe have him tap a dif drain plug for future service. https://www.tracsport.com/lsds I didn’t like the idea of trying to find a transmission person who would know what to do with this thing. As well as have her off the road for extended persons of time with the diff out. not 100% committed. Want to check the preloads and confirm it’s the lsd first but seems to make sense.

I have the same issue in my 420r. It likely doesn’t affect performance. But sends my ocd into overdrive. Interested to hear people’s thoughts / solutions to this

@Anaximander you seem to know a lot of the brunton world -
I was debating something like this. I think someone on here had this set up. https://alumaklm.com/products/utility/single-heavy-axle/7814s-tilt-trailer/
