It’s only be on for month so hard to tell the long term durability. But I have wiped them down with solvent and it doesn’t smudge. the smaller the wire the more it shrinks and the smaller the text gets. But still legible even on 18gauge tefzel which is prob equivalent to 20 or 22 gauge. if it was really exposed (under the car) I might throw some clear heat shrink over it. I tend to mark the awg on the label because the printed one on the wire is next to impossible to read.

Hijacking here. I got this label maker that prints on shrink tube cartridge. It’s over kill but works well https://a.co/d/c22XIey I also got clear shrink tube that you can use regular labels and just shrink it on https://a.co/d/1VQ5213 this was using the label maker printed on shrink tube.

I ordered some mil spec wiring from motecs subdivision https://www.milspecwiring.com it’s pricey but seems indestructible. Should my car burn to the ground I have visions of the wiring being intact in the charred remains. The sheathing does take some sharp strippers and you have to err on the smaller size for shrink connectors so you get a good seal on the smaller sheathing.

You Can Now Get An AC Cobra With Half The Cylinders
CBuff replied to CBuff's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Agreed on a cobra needing a v8. Was more interested in a 300hp n/a ford 4 cylinder and if it would be able to fit in an sv 7 (But the eco boost exhaust is on the left side I believe ). Or maybe that could solve the supercharger steering conflict in the 620 with a left hand drive (eco boost vs Duratec) -
@Number94 there is an HPc that is pending a sale (says they will know by Jan 6). In Illinois (maybe near you).

S3 Chassis w/ lowered floors Vs SV Chassis "try on"/Sit in.
CBuff replied to Walshy7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
420 sv non lowered floors with leather seats in New York City. Doesn’t sound like your travels take you up north. I am smaller on all measurements (not by a ton) and am happy with my choice. Might have done lowered floors if I did it all again but not so much as to wanting to change it. There is a 620 about to be for sale here. -
I wonder the groups thoughts on this. Is there a world in the future that this could be adapted to the seven? I know there is divergent opinions on turbos (with lag and extra weight of cooling plumbing etc). Might the electric supercharger over come some of this. And maybe even address the packaging limitations of the RHD only 620 with the steering rack conflict. https://www.cycleworld.com/blogs/ask-kevin/honda-electric-supercharger-v3-concept-explained/ what do the masses say?

Looking for well sorted LHD Caterham or equivalent
CBuff replied to Greg Davall's topic in Cars Wanted
I will check the usual track operators. Maybe we can book a Saturday at one and a Sunday and another and road trip around this summer -
My 2023 420r is titled as a custom vehicle here in New York. Insurance wise I originally attempted to register it as a caterham ( which they would do - Hagerty). Once I got the title and it was listed as “custom” Hagerty changed it to model= custom ( and the price went down). Anecdotally I would think that insurance will follow suite with the title. If you do agreed value then it shouldn’t matter as far as reimbursement goes. Not sure if AZ has any issue with the way it’s titled. I was very upfront with Hagerty ( especially since I started the process calling it a caterham ). A lot of my back up was from caterham and stated as such. So I was very transparent. They said “ if New York calls it a custom that’s what it is). So if it’s titled a 67 lotus I would think insurance will not question it. not sure if this info is very helpful but it was my experience.

It won’t be out for a while. But save the date and run thru all your belts (dated 6 pt). And make sure all equipment including hans is up to spec. You can ask any questions on the save the date link if you’re unsure of what’s needed. it’s a great time and a nice opportunity to meet the other owners. -

Had an oddly warm day today. Figured it was the last shot to get my 2024 miles in. Past my goal - 5035 miles

https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/forums/topic/266498-boot-floor-removal-please-help/ I don’t think you need to cut the boot floor. Some people say they do it to make it easier. https://caterham420detailedbuildblog.co.uk/2020/02/05/throttle-cable/ I was lucky and didn’t have to adjust my pedal or throttle cable. My 420 idles at about 1100rpm indicated (can bus data says it’s 945rpm but don’t know which to believe). my throttle cable end (the barrel that slides into the throttle body) came out when I was reving the engine with the throttle body once. When I got it back it my throttle wouldn’t rest on the idle screw and was reving higher. I turned the barrel a couple of times to tighten the twist on the cable (it was “unwinding a bit at the barrel). This allowed it to seat better in the throttle body and gained the slack to return to a “normal” idle.

I spoke with nova last week. They still have stock from the previous run of the 185 55 R13 zzs tires. Not so lucky with the rears 215 55 r13. Neither are part of their phase 1 production which goes thru mid 2025. No insights when or if they will go.

Already in the calendar. Thank you again @Croc for being so generous with your time and facilities. -
I’m still in the honeymoon phase. We will see how it unfolds long term. Trying to set the bar as high as possible. hoping to get some north east cruises together next year. Get the collective mileage up for all.

I’m not committing to the year ending yet. My goal is to pass 5000 miles. I’m at 4852 as of today (since early June).
