  1. very leggy girl....yum, yum
  2. Will running a 205 on the back and 185 tires on the front contribute to understeer or is it unlikely unless you are absolutely flying?
  3. I found this while searching for pics on the web. Super clean profile!
  4. Yes, I read it I was a bit sad to not see a traditional live axle supersprint In general EVO is awesome. OCTANE and MOTORSPORT are other great UK based mags
  5. Very cool to look at. The one thing I find alarming is the constant stream of information. I think our brains are getting trained to constantly need external stimulation. For example, my 9 year old gets bored so fast now. He seems to need constant visual stimulus (usually his Mom's iPhone). I worry about our grand-kids and their kids. Will they be able to "disconnect" from the media/information machine?
  6. Its been a tough year. So sad anf unfortunate for what I hear is a truly wonderful party of the world. Stay safe!
  7. I ike the pull the plugs idea. I had the oil changed before putting her away so draining and refilling is not that attractive an idea
  8. I was out in the cold garage looking over the car The dry sump appears to have drained into the shallow sump thru the winter. I'm thinking I'd better turn it over without spark to avoid damaging the pump or other parts while running And no it's not all drained onto the floor I picture a falf full bottom end
  9. wicked looking 7s
  10. Thanks I picked up racing in the rain. I will take that with me to Costa Rica after I'm done with Keith Richard's stream of consciousness autobiography. Its a good book but kind of all over the place. A good read for a stones fan.
  11. i know its nuts.....the cdn model is selling for 2.2 times the price
  12. http://www.allbookstores.com/Porsche-911-Story-Entire-Development/9781844259908 Paul Frere's book is a complete emersion in all things 911. It is a bit on the technical side, but it gives you deep insight into how each successive model has evolved from the previous. It also helps you understand what is the difference between a 915 vs G50 transmission, what is mechanically the difference in engine, braking system, etc.....between each model. Dive in and enjoy
  13. Hi, I'm heading on holidays for 2 weeks and am looking for a great auto-racing paperback. I recently read "Go Like Hell" and loved it. What are your favourite car related reads?
  14. http://www.albico.net/page14.html 480 KG Fireblade Seven. I bet that thing just rips!
  15. Skip. That is INSANE. You could write your own book on the best and worst cars of the 2nd half century
  16. as long as you are not in the snow belt, a mid 80s 911 can be driven into the 200,000+ miles territory before a rebuild if well cared for. Maintenance and parts costs are not outside of the norm by todays standards.
  17. http://www.paulmattysportscars.co.uk/showroom/stock-detail.aspx?id=2101 JPS Lotus F1 car driven by Nigel Mansell. That should get you a few admirers at your next track day? Should also bring you closer to God when you step on the gas.....hopefully just close enough to see him, but not so close he asks you to stay!
  18. Lastly, it does have 4 seats in a pinch. They are also wonderful track machines. Why did I sell that car!!!!!!?????
  19. Also, if you buy a really good one for $20K, it will still be worth $20K or more forever. Pelicanparts.com forums are a great source. If I had a 2 car garage, I would still have my 84' 911 (for life). They are also achingly beautiful. I'm unconvinced you need a more modern Porsche. If you really need strong A/C, get a 964 (89-92'), but that means more complexity. I think the sweet spot is 84-88'.
  20. I sold an 84' 911 carrera coupe for my seven. Before that I had an 81' 911 SC targa. I have to say the tactile sensation of everything in the 84' was so engaging and confidence inspiring. The decades of incremental engineering can be felt. There is also something so classic about an 80's porsche 911 interior. They are also the last of the hand built air cooled cars. The 81' felt more agile, while the 84' felt more planted. I think you should seriously consider driving a very well taken care of air cooled 911. A magical driving instrument. The sounds are also intoxicating.
  21. Two years ago, I was on business in NorCal and took a full day off and rented a Corvette. With the help of local Porsche guys, I drove some of the best roads with some great guys. So jealous of NorCal drivers! Here is a link to the pics and story. Sun up to sun-down with the "hammer down"! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/511871-california-guys-need-some-p-car-guy-travel-advice-3.html I was not a big fan of the Corvette, but it sure made some good sounds at full throttle.
  22. I want to learn more about Ayrton Senna. I came across this video after watching some other ones that show his skill at driving on the edge. What I find interesting is that just like in ABS where the brake is pulsed to release the locked wheel, Ayrton pulses the throttle to keep the car on the bleeding edge of traction. Man, does he ever hammer this NSX-R. I think I will have to find more 80s footage. I wish I had paid more attention back then....but I was only 12 years old.
  23. I love watching these kinds of videos. Monster sized cahunas! YouTube - Che Onda . Big WAVE
  24. OK, so you thought you were going to see some babe in a bikini. Lets get real....I'm talking the ultimate gear head chick, Sabine Schmidt. Queen of the Ring. She is the ultimate dream wife: Fun loving Blonde Winner of the 24 hours Nurburghring race Probably owns an entire stable of wicked rack cars. Talk dirty to me in German, Sabine!
