  1. One other thing - do you have the anti roll bar installed?
  2. Can you give us an idea of what speeds you are doing? Entry/midst/exit please.
  3. Just looked it up. I doubt there is any noise restrictions given the only neighbors are Chuckwallas (cute little fellas!). Long way from anywhere - 3.5 hours drive from LA/LV/Phoenix. I imagine it gets hot in summer? Just waiting to be told it is a "dry heat" so dont worry...

  5. Oh no Mark - you started this so you are in. If I go to CA to do tracks in my seven then you are joining me with your Birkin (I think I remembered right?). With your mischievous humor you will fit in just perfect! :seeya:
  6. 90db limit on Tuesday. My 65 Holman Moody Mustang has been tested at 115db at full stretch down a straight. Could you imagine the look on the noise tester's face?
  7. Down? Are you airborne again?
  8. It was a Ford Mustang. Crude but worked fine for me. The circuit was a vague disappointment. Spa was far far better. I think I need to go back to recheck my thinking - maybe with a better car.
  9. :smash: There is a space on a California track for you - come on out of Texas and join the fun. :seeya:
  10. Hi Rahul - Many thanks for summarizing the various track options and support options in the north. I was at Laguna Seca yesterday so know the drill with noise. Not sure I can get down below 90db. The double muffler arrangement I run in the UK gets me safely to 92db for Donington but I think it would be too close a call at 90db. To make this work I need another seven that I can leave hanging around in CA. Luckily I get first pick at the classifieds each week! Let me sort out that then revisit this for leaving a car in California to do fly in fly out track time like I do in UK/Europe. Apart from you and Senna223, is there any group of "seven" enthusiasts that get together for fun time on track? I know Darren with his CSR is active at Thunderhill so he would be a good addition to any group. cheers mike PS where is Panamericano who was trolling me on this topic earlier?
  11. To clarify - you get 1.5 inches thereabouts from installing lowered floors and then another inch or so from removing the seat slider mechanism and bolting the seat to the floor directly. I think you will hit the rear bump stops first. Neither have I. I leave that stuff for the ladies.
  12. Excellent news! Congratulations. We want photos when you get it!
  13. Hi Dermot Good to hear from you! Hope all is well? The kit just fits an SV or CSR - no dimensions needed. There is also an S3 kit that is narrower. I have the lowered floor fitted on my CSR - love it. It lowers both sides - driver and passenger about 1.5 inches from recollection. Two separate "pans" so you can lower just one. It does taper down from footwell to seat base. I never bottomed out on the floor as I bottom out the rear suspension on its stops first. The lowest point of the floor is just in front of the rear wheels. My concern was engine like yours. If you google "Caterham lowered floor" and look at the images options you will see various installations and can click through to the various websites underlying for owner commentary. If that does not provide enough height lowering then take the seat off its movable track and bolt to floor directly. That takes out another inch in height. 2.5 inches lower should be enough to fix the problem. I have the exact same issue. I went 2 ways and used both: 1) safety goggles over my prescription glasses https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-22179/Safety-Glasses/Uline-Cruze-Safety-Goggles?pricode=WB6729&gadtype=pla&id=S-22179&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrrXtBRCKARIsAMbU6bG7YAUpKJntaqas3gHwzSfzgsXDQOnNmosEthPqQrUVfGWgA-4fhkIaAohaEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.sportrx.com/oakley-l-frame-mx-goggle.html?child_product=01-631&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrrXtBRCKARIsAMbU6bGa5btbgZklLA5-Nnjcg3pvG0TtydrbeXHqO8AuaAM2GRJmiHIEIiUaAvJAEALw_wcB These work fine but the shape occaisonally gave vertigo in regular goggle variety eg the ULine ones. The Oakley ones were great. 2) prescription inserts in safety goggles https://www.sportrx.com/bobster-dzl.html?child_product=BDZL001&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrrXtBRCKARIsAMbU6bE2UB3RKkg1wS0Q8KJnlUUOltK1U4w93bAC_IQ5jr1Dm40b-2vkFlUaAqa1EALw_wcB Option 2 was much better. No visual distortion and fit was much better. This was my preferred option. Sorry I cannot help you with option 3 as I am losing hair elsewhere - legs, chest, etc. Saves my usual waxing I suppose?

  15. So continuing my thinking....what is a complete list of what is worth driving there? Laguna Seca Thunderhill, north of Sacramento Sonoma, north of SF Buttonwillow, north of Los Angeles I have visiting rights to Thermal but its a so so circuit. What other tracks are worth driving in CA? Altamont? Ventura? Willow Springs? What else?
  16. Good to hear from you Rahul. Hope you are enjoying the Stalker? Yep, photo confirms, no Panamericano. If I ship one of my Caterhams out to CA, I would want to keep it there a year to maxmise my ability to cover all the tracks. Who can store it/support it? By the way where is Senna223 located? North or south?
  17. Umm.... I have visited California 5 times this year - more than a Californian politician. Will be there tomorrow in San Francisco and in Laguna Seca on Tuesday. Will be my third time at a CA track this year. How many have you been to?
  18. LOL...if I was retired and had time to make it, yes. Always wanted to tour the country for months on end. But I am not retired sadly. Should be enough people in CA interested enough to join you on track days? Maybe you should road trip here and join the NJ sevens event?
  19. Wish I was on your side of the country!
  20. Yes, all it needs is Burt Reynolds in some moose knuckle jeans!
  21. I think the new mic set up worked well in the video. Also got my fastest time ever - 2.5 seconds off lap record for a 420R and that was with a 5 speed box with less than ideal ratios compared with the former 6 speed gearbox.
  22. As a practical joke my UK friends from the L7C decided to "register" my Caterham in New York, hence the license plate. You can also see I was experimenting with microphones in my continued quest for good engine sound from a Caterham on a track day. Two battery powered mics, split off the same mic in camera channel - one under the intake and the other just above the exhaust exit. The black fluffy thing is a "dead kitten" mic wind cover and not some animal I have run over.
  23. Donington is a very pretty circuit - wonderful views and elevation changes
  24. Some drivers had the skill to drive 11/10ths and use all of the track width - tarmac, kerbs, gravel traps, grass, dirts, etc - to gain the most possible speed and still keep it moving. Notice our erstwhile driver below still has the foot down "I can save this" he says.... And he did... Unlike others...
  25. Obviously the rental cars had a mixture of drivers. Some of which exceeded the track limits by accident: This is a lovely little Ginetta G40. 145hp 2L Zetec as you would get in a Caterham. Beautiful to look at. Little snappy on the limit.
