John - I found it when noodling for a new kit in 2009. It is hosted by a keen Caterham owner in France. Not sure where he found it from? The other information came from one of my discussions with Caterham senior management over the years.

There were a couple of things causing the decision to fall that way 1) It was easier to start with the SV chassis for packaging purposes while testing - the rear end takes up a lot of room 2) There was discussion about then engineering it for the regular chassis but it was cost prohibitive - it is quite an expensive chassis to build relative to the regular S3/SV since it still has to come from Arch and 3) I have heard it said that the original marketing plan for the CSR was to be a grand tourer and a range leading model that attracted a new segment of customers to Caterham looking for a more refined product - something that was partially achieved. There were at least 2 IRS cars built on the S3 chassis. I think one of those may have been a Caterham technician building his own personal car in his own time. They have come up for sale in the UK from time to time.

Welcome TNcoupe! Vovchandr - If you go the half hood approach then you should also get a mesh screen that velcros over the roll cage and runs vertically down to where the belts mount onto the chassis rail. Why? Well as you drive along a wet road, a fine spray kicks up and gets sucked under the halfhood from the rear, ultimately landing on your neck and back of the head unless you have the mesh screen there. Its pretty simple to make or look on UK Ebay for ones that appear from time to time. The SBFS one is not really big enough to wrk effectively.

Caterham are not a recognized US manufacturer of cars - they import kits and rollers. If they were a recognized US manufacturer then they would sell cars that meet all NTSB requirements - impact absorbing bumpers, airbags, been crash tested, etc. Clearly that has not happened... Each state then chooses to title and register Caterhams their own way. I bought a Caterham out of FL in 2008 and just checking the old title copy I retained, it shows Caterham on it.

I had the Holman Moody Mustang accepted to run this year but as I was travelling I had to withdraw. I have a tacit agreement to run in 2019 if I can get my calendar to coincide on dates. The course only troubles me if it is overdriven. Todd was being measured in his driving by leaving a margin of safety - you could see it in the video - but was close enough to make it exciting. Treat it as a display drive event and it will be fine. Treat it as all out time trial then trouble will occur. If I get to run it in 2019 then I will not be driving as fast as Todd as my little beast is a little more wayward.

Anti-clockwise tracks are not an issue. I have run many, they are just not that common on the US East Coast. I can see many reasons for concern: - turn 1 exit barriers get awfully tight. - drainage ditches right next to armco - bridge abutments look like a partial offset crash waiting to happen. - strange layout - very tight in the first third then wide open in the second two thirds. I guess layout was dictated by land layout? PCA are notorious for crashing. Their accident record is atrocious. So understandably they would be concerned and reach the obvious logical conclusion.

Not entirely answering your question but another datapoint, every sigma-engined Caterham I have driven on track in the UK has always had the water temp needle sitting in the middle of the gauge and not well up the top half of the gauge like you are experiencing. However, what I did not note at the time was the scale of the gauge which is what would assist you right now - sorry. I tried to decipher the gauge using my most recent video (310 = 150hp Sigma) but the quality of image and the current bumpiness of Silverstone thanks to its new poor resurfacing have stopped me from reading the scale.

No its fine. It just rattles internally. If that bothers you then you can open up the can and either remove or fix the baffle. You will find the sound absorbing packing will have disappeared over time so it will be a good opportunity to refill that anyway. Replacement would be warranted with corrosion or other visual damage that makes it unsightly.
