I have my suspicions too for the same reason plus it refers to the car being an automatic but then the original price of $45k is pretty outrageous for a 2003 Zetec kit build no matter how perfect it is. Also I doubt it being a 1.8L Zetec as that is the first I have heard of such a US Zetec build - they were all 2L.

I like the new Apollo wheels - they are much nicer than those old wagon wheels you had. The lower headlights are also an improvement. But you are sellign too soon after buying it last year!!!!

After much trial and error with my various cars over the years, I only use Intercity now for long distance auto transport. Enclosed and insured. You can get cheaper elsewhere but its not worth it from a stress or hassle point of view. They are bringing the latest toy from Texas to me.

Hey Stewart Good to hear from you. My logic is to evaluate what the price differential would be. A BDA of that spec is seemingly around $8k+ on Ebay these days. So if a Caterham thats very attractive and well sorted like yours with the regular cross flow is marketable at around $23k (give or take) then would a BDA engine version bring $31-33k? To me it feels slightly rich and not realistic for a sale price? That said BDA Caterhams have advertised around there in the past so its ballpark - just a harder sale to find the right buyer wanting to pay that much more. A Twink engine standalone is about $7k last time I looked at Ebay. $30k makes no sense for a sale price when a twink is packaged put into a Caterham. I would stick the standard crossflow into the Caterham and sell it that way then sell the other engines off separately. There is a much bigger market for BDAs and Twinks within the broader Lotus community so they should be more readily saleable at a greater price. I think Steve wants a BDA for his Caterham anyway. Its a great question Beagleguy. I don't get why it has not had more interest at that price? It is a fairly basic spec based on todays crop of cars and that could just be it. Its also way out there for location for a lot of people if they want to inspect in person.

Well.... ....yes it was me and it was the most fraught auction I have ever participated in. The plane was due to take off 15 minutes after the auction was supposed to end. But with the BAT 2 minute clock extension for bids within the last minutes, that safety margin was rapidly eaten up. Add to this a very slow internet and more than expected bidder interest running me up to the bid limit I set myself and I was sweating. The final comment post after winning the bid was made just as we left the runway. It is nice to buy a bucket list car after missing out on another of my bucket list cars on BAT earlier in the week. It will stay on tarmac - no dirt. I have known about this car and watched out for it since 2011. It truly is a labor of love for the builder and former owner and has to be studied to appreciate the effort that went into it. For that reason I could never trust Xcarguy to drive it as it would likely end up airborne. Yellowss7 would never go fast enough to get heat into the tires. It will need one very specific important job attended to before I can drive it "enthusiastically" but that should not take long. Expect to see it on track on Wednesday July 4th at NJMP at the test day, hopefully with the newly re-engined Group 4 BMW CSL and Group A Holden.

I think some father and son bonding is needed. I would buy him that cheap Stalker in Denver with the LS engine. Then you can play tag on track together. Bring him up to NJMP and you can show him what lines should not be used.

I can relate to this so well, living just half a mile from WTC in NYC. It is far more effort to brave the roads and enjoy a seven. At least feel good that you got to have a bucket list car for some time. Caterhams look sensational in orange with black highlights and stripes. Good luck with your sale.
